Choose the Best Gaming PC for your Needs

Choose the Best Gaming PC for your Needs

Computer game technology is a rapidly-increasing field. In terms of both hardware and software, companies are constantly striving to push the envelope and increase performance. As the intricacy of individual games increases, however, it becomes important to select a computer gaming system that will best fit your particular needs. Unfortunately, there is no shortage of gaming PCs available on the market. How, then, do you select the best gaming system? By answering several questions about your gaming and financial needs, you can determine which direction to turn in terms of a proper gaming system.

What Kinds of Games do you Play?

The specific types of games that you tend to play will help decide which hardware configurations will best meet your needs. All games are not created equal, and depending on the genre developers will devote more of their energy to different aspects of the title. Strategy and simulation games, for example, tend to be less graphically-intensive than other types of games and thus can be run on a less powerful gaming system. As a point of reference, the specifications for Civilization IV, a lush and detailed strategy game, are as follows:

-1.8GHz Intel or AMD processor

-512MB RAM

-128MB video card

Compared to many of the newer gaming computers on the market today, the demands for running Civilization IV are not all that high. As with many strategy and simulation games, a greater weight is placed on AI and game calculations rather than graphics, and raw hardware power becomes less important to run the title effectively.

Conversely, first-person shooters (FPS) and action titles tend to rely more heavily on graphics and physics to create the proper ambiance and environment. As such, the system requirements for these types of games are usually significantly higher than other genres. Titles like Half-Life 2 and Quake 4 bombard the player with graphically intensive scenes, and the physics of the game are precisely calculated to create the most realistic scenarios possible. In contrast to the specifications listed above, the recommended system configuration for F.E.A.R., one of the more advanced FPS titles in terms of graphics prowess, are as follows:

-3.0 Pentium 4 or equivalent processor

-1GB RAM

-256MB video card

Although F.E.A.R. and Civilization IV released at roughly the same time last year, the recommended system requirements for the former are nearly double those of the latter. This is often the case with FPS titles; because developers largely intend these games to be “showcase” pieces of a particular technology or graphics engine, a more powerful gaming computer is usually required to run them in their full graphical glory. The graphic rendering takes enough resources, but when you figure in the requirements for precise real-time physics calculations, these get bumped up even further. As you can see, the types of computer games that you play invariably affect the hardware that you should purchase.

Must you have the Best Graphics?

Genre alone is not the sole deciding factor in determining which gaming PC to purchase, however. Many titles, including such showcase pieces as Half-Life 2 and Doom 3, provide the player with the option of scaling back the graphical effects in order to run the game smoothly on a less-powerful system. While FPS and other games often require a behemoth of a system in order to run with all graphical effects turned on, they will generally run adequately on older rigs. If you can live without such taxing effects as particle shading and frame rates in the hundreds, chances are that you can spend less on a gaming computer and still be able to play the latest games.

What’s more, in many cases game developers and players will discover ways to make a game run more smoothly and stably shortly after it releases. It is generally expected that, in the rush to hit the marketplace, many games are not truly “finished”; that is to say, the code behind them could stand to be optimized slightly more. Therefore, developers and publishers will usually releases patches or updates in order to fix certain technical problems. In the case of F.E.A.R., many players reported shortly after its release that the frame rate would often drop down to unplayable levels mid-game, chugging along even on powerful gaming systems. Once the game was patched, however, this shortcoming was largely rectified. Similarly, avid players or members of a gaming community will often find ways to improve a game’s performance on their own through hacks or tweaks. When this happens, their findings are usually released online in short order, and a game that might have taxed your gaming computer beyond its capabilities may suddenly become playable. Again, it’s not always necessary to have the absolute best hardware in order to play the latest games.

How Much do you Plan on Spending?

Naturally, all of this technology comes at a price. As the adage goes, you have to pay in order to play. Everybody aspires to one day own an ultimate gaming computer; the specifications are mind-boggling, and there is no shortage of companies offering monster gaming rigs. However, the cost of owning one of these machines is often prohibitive. Keep in mind that the newest and most powerful video cards tend to hit the market at the $500 price point. Additionally, the most powerful processors can be priced at $1000 or more. When you design a system around these top-level components–a system that can take the latest game releases, chew them up, and spit them out–you can expect the cost of it to soar. It’s not unheard of to see dedicated gaming PCs priced at $4000 or more for the tower only.

Obviously, the first two questions influence the third quite a bit. If you don’t play many graphically-intensive games, or if you are willing to live with slightly degraded in-game graphics, it is simply not necessary to spend that kind of money on a gaming system. There are plenty of computer companies that have in their lineups midrange setups that are perfectly capable of playing the majority of games on the market today–and at a significantly reduced price. Don’t despair if you can’t afford the latest and most powerful computer technology; while economic means may be the most influential of all deciding factors, it won’t necessarily prohibit you from playing the games that you want.

Bank Foreclosures One of the Easiest Ways to Buy Foreclosures

Bank Foreclosures One of the Easiest Ways to Buy Foreclosures

Bank foreclosures are homes and properties that are currently owned by various banks or lenders. These banks own them because they are the result of foreclosure actions. The previous owners of the home had fallen behind in their mortgage payments and the bank foreclosed on the home. Bank foreclosures are actually one of the easiest and safest ways to buy foreclosures.

One of the reasons that bank foreclosures are easy to buy is that you get to deal directly with the bank. Banks are interested in selling their foreclosed properties because they are not making money on homes that they own. Some banks advertise their bank foreclosures in the classified ads or market them through a real estate agency. However, their main goal is to sell these homes and finance a mortgage for a new buyer. You can typically buy bank foreclosures 10-15% less than market value. While this is not as good a rate as you can get for other types of foreclosures, bank foreclosures are an easy purchase and make a good option for first time buyers or first time investors.

Another reason bank foreclosures are easy to buy is that there are generally no other judgments or liens on the property to worry about. There are usually no back taxes to be concerned about, and you don’t have to feel intimidated or sorry about evicting tenants or the homeowner, either. That can be a difficult thing to do, and buying bank foreclosures saves you those concerns. The bank is also usually very good about letting you access the property and to have various inspections. Bank foreclosures have a lot of advantages.

When buying bank foreclosures, there is nearly always some room for negotiation. You can negotiate a lower down payment, a lower interest rate, a reduction in closing costs and a discounted asking price. However, as the buyer, you need to ask for these things, and be realistic in your expectations. Banks are not going to give their bank foreclosure properties away; they need to make some money on these properties. After all, the business of banks is money. There are flexible lenders out there though, and it makes sense to track them down when you are looking for bank foreclosures. A flexible lender can make all the difference in getting the deal you want on a nice property.

It is not that hard to find good bank foreclosure homes. You can often find information by contacting a realtor. Locating bank foreclosures can also be done with a bank foreclosure listing service such as Foreclosure Data Bank. Listing services offer a lot of foreclosure information in one place which makes them very convenient. Bank foreclosures are just one type of foreclosed properties that are usually listed in Foreclosure Data Bank. When you want a fairly safe and risk-free way to buy a home yet still get a good price, bank foreclosures are one option you should definitely consider.

Green Energy Efficient HVAC

Green Energy Efficient HVAC

If you are looking for greener heating and air conditioning solutions, the first thing you should do is have a contractor give you a quote. You will need a system that is energy-efficient, so you can decrease your energy utilization. By lowering the energy consumption of your heating system, you can save up to 30% on your energy bills! Not only will you save lots of money, but you will be helping the environment at the same time.

Here are a few systems you might consider.

Radiant heating

This is another solution that is environmentally-friendly and has become very popular in recent years. Radiant heat works by circulating heated water through tubing in your floor. This warms the floor and radiates heat through your home.Because the tubing has to be installed under the floor, radiant floor heating is usually only recommended for new construction. Despite the expense and hassle of installation, many homeowners really like the energy-efficiency of radiant heating.

Hybrid heat pumps:

These are efficient combinations of a gas furnace and a traditional heat pump. When you combine two energy-efficient systems, you will get the best of both worlds. Hybrid heat pumps work like a hybrid vehicle by turning on the furnace when necessary to help with the efficiency of the heat pump. Switching between the two heat sources will allow the system to automatically adjust for optimum functionality.

Solar heating systems:

These are a great heating solution for hot water that’s eco-friendly and has extremely low operating costs. These systems can furnish up to 80% of your home’s hot water. This can mean major energy cost savings for you. Solar heating systems harness the energy of the sun – so its worth it to use this free resource. Solar hot water heating can be expensive to install, but it usually pays for itself in as little as five years

If you have time, take a look at gas furnace guides and reviews before deciding on one.

Your best bet is to contact an HVAC contractor to discuss your options before deciding on the equipment that you want to have installed. They can go over gas furnace prices and provide you with the good and bad of each system.

How to Roll Money Over From a 401(K) to an IRA

How to Roll Money Over From a 401(K) to an IRA

At some point or another in our professional career, we leave a company to move on to another job. But too often, we forget to pack our most important private contract in our moving box, our 401k!

The first thing we need to execute after getting a new job is to be sure they transmit our 401k. It is very essential to be sure that we do a 401k roll over properly from one job to the next. Many prefer to rollover to an IRA.

The best reason to transition from a 401K to an IRA is that with the IRA, the number of investment options we will have is nearly unlimited, while the corporation sponsoring 401K plan will allow only few choices.

If you want to roll over an IRA, I recommend that you begin to choose stocks or mutual funds based on your own research and preference, this can be much rewarding.

IRA’s can be opened at your local bank or an independent or online brokerage firm. I noticed that when you go online, you are charged fewer fees. Also, you’ll be able to compare different offers.

As soon as you choose where you want to have your IRA, the institution will give you an account number and form so the 401K plan administrator can deposit the distribution check.

Unfortunately, the whole procedure can take quite a few weeks or more. When the administrator transfers the money, it will be deposited in a “money market” account. At this step, you’ll be able to start searching stocks or mutual funds that you want to put your money into, I recommend discussing these options with an advisor. Confirming allocation occurs as a “buy order” that you place for your chosen investment option.

Also, you have two options for a rollover to be done. First, at your request, the previous employer can cash in the securities held in your account, then you’ll receive a check sent directly to you so you can deposit to your new IRA Rollover. But, you should be careful; you have only 60 days to deposit those earnings into your new IRA account without paying taxes or penalties. So, it’s very important to make sure that you receive the check from the 401k administrator and you deposit it on time.

The second option consists of asking your 401k administrator to perform a “direct rollover” or “trustee to trustee transfer”. In fact, this would help you to avoid unforeseen taxes or penalties and make sure that you respect the deadline. This procedure means that the check with the amount of your old 401k account will be deposited directly to the administrator of the new account. After all, your account statements will show the amount of the transfer.

An IRA lets your money to grow tax free until your retirement years which is comparable to a 401K but with so many more investment options. The IRA allows you to take in charge of your investments, you can make your own research and management, and this allows also, greater control over the growth of your money, so you can make big profit from it, which is very good for your retirement.

Finally, Simpler is better because simpler gets done. Move your money where you know you will keep your eye on it. Rolling a 401k to an IRA is a very easy process, but you still have to pay attention to few details.

Financial Retirement Planning

Financial Retirement Planning

Many people retire after they find themselves financially stable enough to support all their needs. There are also some who consider first how much they have already saved for them to say that they are already ready for retirement. Well, money matters really play a vital role in retirement and to become financially secure after retirement takes time, effort and of course, proper planning.

The concept on financial retirement planning is not something that is fresh or new to the people’s ears. It has been around for more than a decade now, and many successful retirees have considered financial retirement planning at some point in their lives. Now, if you are thinking about retiring from work, but you want to make sure that you will be financially stable when the right time to retire comes, knowing everything that is involved in the planning is definitely one of the best moves you can make.

So to start with your financial retirement planning, simply note that you are dealing not just with money here, but for a better future. Note that and if possible, save as much as you can as early as possible. As what many retirement experts have said, the sooner you start saving, the more time your money has to grow.

Set certain goals that are realistic and make those goals an important part of your financial retirement planning. You can project your possible expenses based on your needs. Consider how much your life after retirement will cost and try calculating everything that is involved. Settle only when you find out that everything is tackled and solved.

You can also consider a 401K plan as a special part of your financial retirement planning. The 401K is after all one of the best and easiest ways for saving after retirement. But before you consider the plan, make sure that you have understood everything that is involved in it, how it works and how you will benefit from it. There are also the IRA retirement plans for you to take. But as mentioned, know first what the plans entail and how they work to support everything you’ll need after retirement.

As you go along the financial retirement planning process, try to look at your asset allocation. It has been maintained that how you divide your portfolio between stocks and bonds will have a big impact on your long term returns. And, speaking of long term returns, several retirement experts have noted how important the decision of paying attention to the stocks and bonds is. According to them, stocks offers the best opportunity for you to achieve high returns over long periods of time, while bonds should not be considered heavily even in retirement for that will increase the inflation level, thus destroying the purchasing powers of the interest payments of your bonds.

Finally, when considering a financial retirement planning, it is best to consider yourself working part-time even after retirement. What you will earn on your part-time job will help increase what you’ve saved for your retirement. It will even keep you socially engaged.

Window Cleaning Tips and Product Review

Window Cleaning Tips and Product Review

Window Cleaning Tips and product review – Does Windex work?

I have been cleaning windows professionally in the Toronto Canada area for over 35 years. In this article I will discuss common questions asked, do a product review, and give some free tips and do-it-yourself advice for those who have small homes and businesses.

Spring is here and I get asked every day what is secret ingredient that I use to make the windows shine. That answer is very easy, but first let me explain some common misconceptions. Window cleaning is not rocket science but you have to understand some basic concepts. There are several theories as to how to clean windows. Some say use vinegar, some say use ammonia, some say you have to wipe with newspaper to get a shine. Many people think that they can just spray on some Windex and wipe it off with a rag or paper towel. It’s not that easy. First off I don’t recommend Windex. It’s not that the product does not work or that it is no good, simply put most people don’t know how to use it. It has a blue dye in it and a perfume substance and other ingredients that will leave a big mess if you don’t take it take if off properly. There are several more commercial products available that all claim to be especially designed for window cleaning. Believe me I have tried many of these expensive products and they are no better than the one product that 90 percent of windows cleaners use and is a tenth of the price.

What I’m about to tell you that is the greatest secret to having clean windows, which is: (drum roll) dish detergent.

That is all you need. Not only is it inexpensive but you can also use Eco friendly dish detergent which is safe on the hands and the environment. That wasn’t so bad was it. Please read on for more.

What’s important in cleaning windows it’s really not what solution you use, it’s how you use it.

Having a good quality squeegee is the most important tool you will need. There are many different sizes based on the size of windows you will need to clean. However a 12-14 inch squeegee should be

enough to handle most small homes. You can purchase these at most hardware stores. Get the brass one if you can. Once you have your squeegee you have to maintain it. Do not drop it or bend it.

After a few uses you should replace the blade. You can get replacements at any local janitorial supply store. Make sure you use both sides before discarding it for another.

Here are seven great Window Cleaning Tips to follow-

1 Only wash windows when there is no direct sunlight on the them. They will dry too fast and streak.

2 All you need is dish detergent. That’s what most of the pros use. It is cheap and works perfectly under most conditions.

3 Pour a small amount of dish soap (two or three ounces) into a bucket of water.

4 Use a rag or brush to saturate the window with your solution.

5 Use a standard brass squeegee that you would find at your local hardware store to clean the solution off.

6 Work your way from the top down on the window and angle the squeegee so that the water does not run off at the top.

7 Use a lint free towel or dry paper towel to go around edges and any streaks and make sure all the water is off as quickly as possible.

Theses tips should cover most normal window cleaning situations. As to anything other than dirt that is on the widows you may have to resort to other chemicals or tools to get those marks or stains off. In that case it may be the time to consult a pro. If you have very high windows or large windows it may be wise to leave that to the pros as well. I know of one gentleman who said to his wife, I’m going to get the ladder out and clean the windows. Off he went and ended up falling off the ladder. His place of employment would not compensate him for time off because he was injured outside of the workplace. They were in a sad state. So please leave the more difficult situations to the pros.

In conclusion, clean windows are a joy and there is nothing more beautiful than looking through a clean clear window. The simple tips provided in this article will allow you to enjoy the beautiful world around you with the least amount of time and expense. Enjoy.

What Do You Know About ATVs?

What Do You Know About ATVs?

ATV – All Terrain Vehicle sounds a mouthful when it is being pronounced in its full name, but just how much do you know about ATVs? You may have read stories about ATVs in the newspapers, magazines or even on the internet, but what do you really know about them?

How many of you know that an ATV is not just a big boy’s toy? If you are one of those who raised your hands, good on you but if you are one of those who are not sure if ATVs are just a big boy’s toys or not – well, we will let you in on a little secret, ATVs are not just big boys’ toys! ATVs are powerful and could be potentially dangerous machines if it is not properly handled or if safety measures are not taken when riding on one. Unfortunately, not many people “remember” this fact when they go out to ride on their ATVs. The recent report of the death of Hunter Benton, a 14-month old toddler, while riding on an ATV with his grandfather is a sad reminder that goes to show just how “forgetful” people can be when they choose fun over safety. It was reported that the machine’s throttle malfunctioned – sending both grandfather and grandson crashing into a parked sport utility vehicle. It is very dangerous to allow a toddler so young to sit on your lap while you ride on an ATV because most ATVs are not built for more than one rider. In addition to that point, it is important that you check your ATV first before you ride on it so that you are confident that your machine is in good working condition.

Children under the age of 16 should never be an “extra passenger” on an ATV or even attempt to ride on their own on an adult ATV. There are specially designed youth ATVs that are made for kids below 16 years of age. If you want to find out more about youth ATVs, try visiting http://www.jackel.com or http://www.kazumausa.com for some great models.

An ATV can travel at an excess speed of 60 miles per hour and weighs over 700 pounds. These machines can easily roll and tip over. Their unpredictable nature in off road conditions makes training and proper usage of ATVs very important. Just in 2003 alone, there were about 740 deaths related to ATVs that includes 140 reported deaths involving children. In 2004, it is said that an estimate of 136,000 ATV related injuries were treated in hospital emergency rooms. Just these figures alone should make you take up proper ATV training and riding courses as well as learning and practicing the safety rules and regulations.

There is just one thing that riders should never forget when they go out riding on their ATVs – and that is, you must always remember to wear your protective gears, especially your helmets. Never go riding on an ATV without your helmet. Another important fact about riding an ATV is that you should never ride on one when you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. When you are under the influence of such substances, your reflexes are usually a lot slower than your normal self and you may not be able to “detect” danger as quickly.

ATVs are a great sport to take up – if you adhere by the basic rules and regulations. If you are a beginner in ATV riding, you may want to check out http://www.atvoutdoors.net for some ATV fun. Remember, it is better to be safe than sorry – so don’t just remember the rules and regulations for ATV riding in your head, practice them!

What is so exciting about the startup ideas? Any startup idea is walking closely beside the newest trends in modern expertise and knowledge. The success of the startup idea is therefore based entirely upon the ability to sense and define the new born market niches.

The most striking instance of the latest growing technology that may provide for the startup company success is internet business. It is acknowledged that the online marketing, being one possible niche of the online business field, may provide a businessman with a better control tools for their timing resources and equally for their finances. Online marketing as an idea for the internet business is particularly attractive under the current circumstances when the entrepreneur possibilities happen to deplete in number. The number of internet users is growing rapidly as we are leaving the age of heavy industries and entering the information era. Top 5 Ways Fax Automation Will Increase Small Business Productivity

Top 5 Ways Fax Automation Will Increase Small Business Productivity

Today, most small to medium sized organizations understand outbound fax automation as the ability to send faxes with their computers using the email or internet. This is only the tip of the business productivity iceberg. Outbound fax automation is about saving time and money by eliminating manual fax creation and submission. It is the use of a computer based faxing solution in a specific manner for sending outbound faxes. All computer based fax solutions ARE NOT created equal. The selection of the best solution will depend on budget, fax volume, identified fax workflow inefficiencies and future eDocument Delivery initiatives.

For outbound faxing, the top 5 ways to increase the productivity are:

Automated Desktop Faxing

Fax Broadcasting

Sending Faxes using Email Distribution Groups

Fax-Enabling Billing and Invoicing Applications

Outbound Fax Management

Automated Desktop Faxing

Most office administrators or office managers are involved in the mailing or faxing of documents. These documents typically include reports, newsletters, invoices, announcements and marketing literature. The manual mailing and faxing of these types of documents is labor intensive, cost prohibitive and significantly time consuming. Automated desktop faxing eliminates printing, mailing and faxing of reports, form letters, newsletters, announcements etc by hand. Automated desktop faxing happens directly from your computer. Faxing tools are installed within your document processing applications Microsoft Word, Crystal Reports etc as well as your contact database applications (Microsoft Excel, Access, Goldmine, Maximizer, etc).

Fax Broadcasting

Fax broadcasting is another form of automated outbound fax automation. It significantly reduces repetitive steps and increases the speed of delivery of documents. For many SMB’s fax broadcasting is a vital part of their ongoing marketing, product announcement and customer communication strategies. With the influx of email spam and spam filters, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to reach your own customers. Sending a fax often eliminates this concern, because unlike email, faxes are always read and delivered when recipients are properly identified. When selecting a fax broadcasting solution ensure it is capable of performing the following steps:

Ability to create a highly legible faxable document.

Ability to create or use an existing database list from a variety of formats (CSV, TEXT, EXCEL, ACCESS, SQL,)

Ability to map database fields to the content of the fax document for personalization.

Ability to manage the entire process easily. Management includes tracking, monitoring and modification and resubmission.

Sending Faxes Using Email Distribution Lists

Fax automation is about leveraging existing technologies and resources. Sending faxes using email distribution groups allows you to use a centralized phone book or recipient list. It eliminates the need to create or maintain separate phone books. In addition, third party applications and other databases have links directly into email contacts or distribution groups. In addition, USPS mail costs 0.39 or greater for deliver and takes on average 48 hours for delivery and payment of the invoice generally occurs several days later. All of these manual processing steps and consumable costs are eliminated through outbound fax automation. Your billing and invoicing application can be fax-enabled and with a simple push of the key on your keyboard, invoices are be delivered to clients in seconds – with confirmation receipts!

Outbound Fax Management

Outbound fax management helps businesses grow in several areas simultaneously. Paper intensive SMB’s use outbound fax on a daily basis to market, generate and close business. This includes the review of fax usage (by department) in terms of transmission time, delivery destinations (by area code and/or recipient) and subject matter (invoice, P.O., expense report, announcement, newsletter).
