What is Mindfulness?

The concept of mindfulness has actually been around for thousands of years. Its origins can be found in the earliest Buddhist teachings (2500 years ago). It has been used over the centuries in traditional eastern contemplative practices like Hatha Yoga and other meditation practices. Zen masters taught mindfulness to enlightened monks in the ultimate acceptance of their own existence.

However, the way we use the term here, Mindfulness should not be confused with inward focused mysticism or spirituality. Today Mindfulness not only refers to the acceptance of one’s reality but what one does with that reality. As we use it, Mindfulness is the skill of living in the moment and relating to the world in a nonjudgmental and reflexive as oppose to reactive fashion.

In recent years, science and westernization have adapted Mindfulness so that it can be cultivated daily, used without years of practice, and be compatible and useful within almost any modern human activity. Mindfulness is simply an introspective method for grounding your thoughts, emotions and behaviors in the reality you are currently experiencing, so you can stand back, observe, understand yourself more fully and take care of your needs.

The act of Mindfulness is the ability to focus your attention on your inner thoughts while letting go of past or future worries. It will take some practice to witness your thoughts popping up and then going away without self-criticism, but it can be achieved by most people without extensive training, just daily practice. For instance, just watching your breathing can have a calming effect on your mind and slowly restore your sense of well-being. When you quiet your thoughts about what you have to do and your feelings dictating what you want to do, your intuitive mind takes over. Here you gently move from dwelling on the past or future to being focused on what you are doing right at this moment. Being in this state of Mindfulness allows you to listen to your gut and discover what you truly need. Mindfulness allows you to acknowledge your feelings, witness your thoughts and redirect yourself away from distraction.

We live in era of constant upheaval and change. Actually, most of us get through life on autopilot. Our brain gets filled with restless ideas and memories that are hard to keep track of especially when we become stressed. We tend to “tune out” and just “try to get through the day.”

Everyone’s mind naturally wanders, but when you practice Mindfulness you are aware of your mind wandering and can gradually redirect it back to the present. Mindfulness allows you to gently quiet all the noise in your head. Paying attention to your breathing, tracking your thoughts, or scanning your body for tension are just few of the many ways to reduce mental chatter. With Mindful practice, you can learn to remove the tendency to jump to conclusions, make assumptions and idle judgments, and recognize that your negative or positive feelings are coming from you and not the external world around you.

Dr Marsha Linehan, founder of Evidence Based Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) says we need to adopt a “Reflexive Mind” in order to cope with distress and change. Here, your mind is trained to act like Teflon, nothing sticks to it long enough to attach. Mindfulness has been shown to bring calmness and patience to those who embrace the practice. People who practice daily Mindfulness are processing life rather than analyzing its content. The ultimate state of Mindfulness is mental resiliency.

In fact Mindfulness can also help you stay focused and aware even when you are engaged in mundane activities such as driving, eating, and walking. Research has shown its positive effects on boosting the immune system, managing pain, reducing stress and cultivating personal awareness.

A beginning Mindful sequence may involve:

- Sitting in a quiet and comfortable location

- Thinking about where you are and what you are doing at this very moment

- Closing your eyes

- Allowing thoughts about what already or will happen move in an out of your consciousness with your non-judging mind and gentle persuasion

- Focusing on the sensations of breathing each breath and noticing what that does to your belly, nostrils and lungs

- Making note of every thought and feeling that comes up and then returning to your breathing to further anchor your attention

- Observing your mind but, not getting stuck on any one particular thought or feeling as your breathing becomes more natural, full and steady

- Opening your eyes and looking at something you have seen before with a fresh perspective.

What are Affirmations?

Affirmations are declarative statements about something you now know, did, or intend to do. When you use an Affirmation you are not only being aware of your thoughts, but you are taking conscious control of them. When you say, write, read or even think of an Affirmation, you are, in effect, taking steps to acknowledge what is worthwhile about you.

Studies have shown that most of our daily thoughts are negative. Working with Affirmations makes you aware of how self-defeating thoughts chip away at your creativity. Affirmations help you create a new reality and visualize what you essentially want out of life.

Negativity can threaten your health and happiness. In fact, when you are not paying attention to your thinking, you are more liable to pessimistic and not realistic or optimistic. The more you are aware of what you are actually telling yourself, the more upbeat you will sound. Using command based phraseology, keeping the Affirmation in the present tense and making it reality based offers you more reinforcement. Repeatedly telling yourself that you are, or will be, deserving, healthy, and successful, the more your positive determination will flow. You’re more likely to see a bounce in your step and a lift in your life by using daily Affirmations.

What are Mindful Affirmations?

Mindful Affirmations ” are not just inspirational sayings. We use the term as thought provoking phrases that loosely derive from Mindfulness ideas of Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, who founded the medical and meditative models of Mindfulness. He came up with Eight Stations of Mindful Meditation:

- Smile

- Breathe

- Arrive

- Attend

- Find the essence

- Slow down

- Listen

- See things with a new perspective

Mindful Affirmations incorporate one or more of these active stations into each passage in order to support the Mindful notion of keeping an “open mind,” where possibilities have no limits. They are not meditations as used by Dr Zinn and others. Mindful Affirmations take ordinary Affirmations like “Your self-confidence will carry you on,” and make them more reality based so the reader can gradually acknowledge and accept the truth about their life. An example of expanding the above Affirmation into a Mindful Affirmation would be “I barely thought of my own self-worth until I saw myself going backwards in life. Letting myself go and losing all I had gained made me feel stuck and dependent. I now see how harnessing my self-esteem can help me not only find my way but, carry me through life.”

This phraseology helps to evoke not only the reader’s subconscious mind, but keeps the reader focused on the key of Mindfulness, just being in the moment.

Pain is about growth and is inevitable. Unfortunately, too many of us have become addicted to suffering… but suffering is optional! Mindful Affirmations make our conscious and subconscious minds look at our pain and release our fears about the unknown. Our inner subconscious mind has the desire for change but doesn’t know just what to change or how to do it. Our outer conscious mind desires to be relaxed, in balance and accept our state of affairs. When working in concert our two minds remove expectations/accusations and allow us to gently examine our feelings, thoughts and behaviors about the past without dwelling or being judgmental.

When Mindful Affirmations are written in the first person they can help the reader not only empathize with the writer, but slowly begin to accept and validate their own pain, saying inside themselves, “I guess I am not alone.” Mindful Affirmations not only break down the reader’s self-imposed isolation but offer them options for change such as in the passage, “I now see that responding rather than reacting will build a healthy interpersonal world for myself.”

It has been my clinical experience that each time I ask a patient to read a Mindful Affirmation, they mention to me that they now see their old problem in a different way. One of the core values of Mindfulness is to be able to see yourself and the world around you with a “new set of eyes.”

The focus is on accepting, commitment and learning (refers to “ACT” therapy) a new way of living or looking at life. Mindful Affirmations help the reader’s mind stay engaged while supporting the surrender of old baggage and unfulfilled expectations.

Mindful Affirmations use positive assertions like “I feel happy,” but allow our present awareness to reinforce our declaration giving us clarity of thought to see our options. It is a coping strategy. For example, the statement “When I am stressed I make myself sit and take notice of my surroundings,” supports your inner desire to stay calm and centered rather than be overwhelmed and scattered.

The book takes Affirmations to the next level by first talking about how “I” (the reader) arrived at the state of not being able to take control, what resulted, and how “I” plan to take command of my life in the future.

Using these three components to the Affirmation not only supports the drive to do better, but plants the seed more firmly that “I” will make progress and “I” can learn from my past. Mindful Affirmations are cyclical in nature. Each time a negative feeling comes up the reader has a choice to make good or bad decisions. The truth is that we are more likely to accomplish what we set out to do, if we are keenly aware of how the past made us feel and what consequences may lie ahead.

Mindful Affirmations help you not only face reality, but look beyond it by challenging your old mental dialogue with a new perspective. Mindful Affirmations allow you to step back from life enough to examine regrets and embrace new options. Mindful Affirmations help you discover that who you really are is what keeps you alive, vital and present.

Getting Started on Your First Blog Project

Yes you can make a fortune from simple blogs. For those of you who don’t know what a blog is, the term is short for ‘web log’, which is basically an online log of your activities and experiences in a certain subject area.

You can use a free service for your blog, such as blogger.com. This is a great way to start out, as you get your blog higher up the search engines using this service. However, in the long term, you’re better to have your own website with blog software installed. A good free one is WordPress. It’s a PHP script, and most good web hosts provide it free with simple one click installation.

At the start, I recommend using Blogger.com, and buy your domain name and get hosting at the same time. Reason for this is it takes quite a bit of time building a website and getting ranked well in the search engines. In the meantime, start building a basic website on your chosen subject area, while making your first blog posts on Blogger.com.

Pick a subject you are knowledgeable of, preferably a hobby that you are passionate about. this way your blog post articles will flow naturally and you will enjoy the process more. you’ll also likely to find readers for your blog more easily, through personal contact, your friends on Facebook and so on.

Here’s a quick recommendation when choosing your domain name for your blog site – use the top keywords in your niche, and try to get an older domain that’s over 5 years old. Search engines such as Google will rank higher for sites that have been around for longer. Sometimes people ditch good domain names not knowing this, maybe had bad marketing results using old style marketing techniques.

Now, for making money from your blogger.com blog in the early days, the quickest and simplest way is to use affiliate programs. For those of you who are new here, an affiliate program is where you sell other peoples stuff and get paid a percentage of the final sale price. The easiest place to start out with affiliate programs is ClickBank.com. They have thousands of digital products like eBooks, software and audio/video products too. They’re the easiest to join, with no background checks or long sign up process.

So go over to ClickBank and select about five products related to your chosen subject area. Get your affiliate links and you’re all set to go. Now don’t just go blasting your blog with loads of affiliate links. This comes across as being spammy and your readers won’t like it. So I advise to first provide quality information and interesting stuff. Then plug in some recommendations for your chosen affiliate programs – about twice a week.

Taking the next Step …

Then once you have some traffic coming to your blogger.com blog and making some sales through affiliate program links, then it’s time to get your WordPress blog up and running on your site. Now you can use the same articles you had on your blogger.com blog, but I recommend re-writing your them because the search engines will flag your posts as duplicate content.

Now because eventually you’re having a blog on your own website rather than Blogger.com, you’ll have to perform promotional activities to get your blog noticed. The best way to do this is having many backlinks from other sites. So what you do is join the top ranking forums in your subject area, and begin making posts. Now don’t just go blatantly posting links to your blog. Instead take part in the conversation, answer peoples questions and establish yourself. Create a bio and profile page first. Only after making about 5-10 reply’s to threads and maybe a few of your own, then post a link or two to your blog page. be careful here as many forum editors hate lots of links on their sites.

Blogging Do Not’s

Notes on Using Drip Feed Software

Now many of you reading this may have come across software that will post articles to your blog on a drip feed, say making a few posts a day. You know the sort, they offer you a 10,000 articles package and install it on your site with Google AdSense or affiliate adverts and banners programmed into your blog. Now let me tell you that I have tried this and it does not work! Don’t be fooled by this. Those ten thousand articles are all duplicate content, as the other thousand or so people who bought them will have the exact same content on their blogs. Google are wise to this, and your blog will never show up high in the search engines.

Now, using drip feed software is fine if you’re using your own original articles, but not with duplicate articles. You can actually get your website banned from the search engines for that, as using such articles can be seen as breach of copyright, so beware.

Providing Out of date, Irrelevant Information

Nobody wants to read about stuff that is no longer relevant and out of date. It’s ok to reference old stuff if you find it useful to your audience, but keep your blog in tune with current times and your most recent experiences. The search engines want pages with quality information that people are searching for right now.

Blogging About too Many Subjects

Keep your blog posts focused on just one subject. If you have another subject you wish to blog about, open another Blogger.com account or a new website. Talking about two different niches from the one blog will confuse the reader and looks unprofessional. Also, only promote about three or so affiliate programs at a time. This way you can maximise your ClickBank paychecks.

Sending Traffic to Crap Affiliate Pages

Before deciding to promote a ClickBank product, don’t just go with the one with the highest commission. First check out their sales page. Does it look enticing? Is it too hype filled? Check out reviews from previous buyers. Visit sites like Alexa.com, or type the name of the product followed by ‘reviews’ into the search engines, and do some research before spending your valuable time promoting something that won’t sell well.

Beginning Eras of Anime (Japanese Animation)

Beginning Eras of Anime (Japanese Animation)

Anime, or Japanese Animation, had its start in the beginning of the 20th century. Anime is Japan’s competitor against the high-budget Hollywood in America; Anime allowed Japan to create films under tight budgets and without location restrictions.

First Era of Anime

Recently discovered in 2005, the earliest known Anime was created around 1917; it consisted of 50 frames sketched onto a strip of celluloid. The clip is about 3 seconds in length and depicts a young boy donning a sailor suit writing the kanji for moving pictures (katsudou shashin) on a board. He then turns toward the viewer, removes his hat and salutes. It is unknown who created the clip.

This is one of the few complete clips that have survived from this period of animation. One of the reasons for the demise of most clips was due to these reels being sold to smaller cinemas – after they had their run – and being disassembled to be sold as strips or frames.

One of the pioneers of early animation was Kitayama Seitaro; he used a chalkboard method technique and eventually moved onto paper animation, sometimes using pre-printed backgrounds. Kitayama Seitaro went on to start his own animation studio called Kitayama Eiga Seisakujo which eventually closed down due to lack of financial success.

Second Era of Anime

Kitayama Seitaro had several influential students while his film studio was still in operation. Ofuji Noboro, Yamamoto Sanae, Kimura Hakuzan and Murato Yosuji were his most influential students during the late 1910′s and early 1920′s. The Great Kantou earthquake in 1923 destroyed most of Seitaro’s studio. With Seitaro’s studio destroyed and knowing how lucrative animation production can be, the students spread throughout Japan and founded their own studios.

During this era, the Monbusho (Ministry of Education) began supporting and encouraging films that contained educational value. This created a high demand for animation films and created a lasting place in academic, political and business use.

The War Era of Anime

When the Japanese government began enforcing its policy of strict nationalism in the 1930′s, strict control and censorship of all published media began to shape the Anime landscape. Animators were pushed to create films which promulgated the Japanese spirit and national affiliation. The films were shown in News-Cinemas and as News-Cinemas boomed, so did these Anime films.

Disney played an important role in molding the Anime of the era. Due to the lack of financial backing of animation studios, Japanese animators fell short of producing the same quality as Disney and were often pale in comparison.

Also at this time many of the smaller studios closed or were merged with larger studios – by the end of this period only 3 large studios remained. The merging of production companies allowed for bigger projects, which gave Anime a leg of its own to stand on.

Momotaro’s Divine Sea Warriors is the first notable animation of length made in Japan. After the war, the rapid economic success of Japan allowed Japan to emerge as a world leader in animation.

Certification Requirements For Beginning IT Professionals

Those who are interested in going to work in the information technology field are probably aware that certifications are very important. When hiring IT workers, employers frequently look for candidates who have specific certifications.

For entry-level positions, employers want to see certifications that validate that applicants truly have basic skills and an aptitude for IT work. Some companies will not even consider hiring entry-level candidates who do not have at least one professional certification. Even in cases where certification isn’t mandatory, it is certainly something IT employers view favorably.

Which Certifications Do I Need?

There are many different types of IT skills and jobs. Accordingly, there are many different certifications, each of which validates a specific skill set. The type of certification that you will need depends upon a number of factors, including: the industry you want to enter, the geographic location where you want to work, a company’s requirements, your background, and many other variables.

The New Age Thinking regarding the use of affirmations can be somewhat frivolous. The idea that you can simply think about or affirm what you want and then get it is decidedly absurd. Yet, there is no doubt that thinking is a formative force in the materialization and fabrication of our world view and the conditioned circumstances in which we exist. How we view the world, and ourselves, as we are in and of the world, determines how we act which in turn results in effects. Our current situation–all the conditions of our present life and the various contexts in which we find ourselves, is a direct result of our past, specifically how we have used language in describing ourselves, our capacities, abilities and goals all of which is a precursor for behavior which, again, is causative meaning it brings about effects.

Language is not only our tool for communication. It is also our tool for thought. We think in words as well as mental pictures. But, language is a rather crude instrument. In English, with a mere 26 letters, we codify and represent all our experience…and communicate that experience, as best we can, with language. How can 26 letters encompass not just decades but ages upon ages of experience?

Language is tricky…it’s not always easy to understand the true meaning of a word or phrase. For example “love” has many different shades of meaning. When we say we love that new restaurant down the street, is that the same as when we say we love our mother? And when we are told that we should love ourselves, what kind of love do we apply? The kind of love we have towards our pet? Our sibling? One of the most common New Age Affirmations is something along the lines of “I love myself.” What does that mean? Really? Do we love ourselves the way we love our spouse? The way we love our neighbor? We don’t do those very well, so how could we possible love ourselves any better?

Because thought, which uses language, is a formative force. Affirmations are important. What we say to ourselves, and how we say it, does have an impact upon our mind, our body and our behavior…which, being causative, brings about effects. It behooves us to consider the positive and accurate use of affirmations as part of mental health hygiene. Just as you brush your teeth twice a day, so taking a few minutes to use language and thought in such a purposeful way that the mind is imprinted with positive impressions, is healthy. And, just as toothbrushes come in different styles and choosing one that works well is a consideration, so too designing an effective and accurate affirmation takes some meditation.

There are some basic guidelines to the proper use of affirmations: relatively short, first person singular, realistic, and yet not necessarily a present reality, vividness and kinaesthetic intensity, which is feeling. An affirmation is generally no longer than a few sentences and mostly just one simple sentence. The most common beginning of the sentence is “I am” and this is actually a very good affirmation to start with. After you brush your teeth, look in the mirror and say to yourself “I am.” After you’ve done that for a couple of months consistently, you can add on to it. For example, “I Am Healthy.” Of course, exactly what “healthy” consists of is not detailed, nor should it be. The word “healthy” is associated with dozens, if not hundreds, of other words, phrases, images and feelings. It’s those associations that gives that word its meanings. As you say “I am healthy” the subconscious mind automatically conjures images of what that means. As you repeat that affirmation as if it is a mantra, the images and feelings become intensified. But, you ask, what if I am not healthy, as many people in fact are not. You can still affirm this statement. It is not a hope or a want, it can be a statement of fact…even though it may currently be a lie.

Many of the beliefs and world views we hold today were built up through repetitive use of affirmations…simple sentences…which were, at the time, untruths. But, having repeated them so often, in first person singular, with vividness and feeling, these simple statements which were not at the time realities, became so. For example, a child growing up and learning language might imitate their parent who might often say “I’m such a klutz.” The child begins to imitatively repeat this affirmation and, although not a reality at the time, can easily become one.

To affirm something in the present which is not currently a reality is not a lie. It is simply a conflict. The subjective reality of the affirmative statement, coupled with vividness and feeling, is in conflict with the objective reality of consensual agreement. As the new affirmative statements are repeated the conflict increases. During this period of conflict there may be very strong thoughts attempting to convince one that the objective consensual reality is “the truth.” By continuing on with daily affirmative statements the creative subconscious mind begins to work towards conflict resolution. One of the two “realities” must be dissolved. There is tremendous force and momentum behind the objective consensual reality. Yet with simple persistence, the new subjective affirmative reality which was in conflict with the objective consensual reality begins to take dominance. The objective consensual reality’s basis, which is nothing other than established internal, subjective, affirmative statements becomes less rigid…it begins to crack. It becomes subordinate, and diminishes, and eventually dissolves away. Objective indications of the new affirmative position begins to be noticed in the world of consensual agreement…a new personal reality begins to emerge which is also substantiated by growing objective consensual agreements.

So, you may currently be very unhealthy. That does not matter. You can still affirm “I Am Healthy.” Be warned however, that as the weeks and months pass, as the conflict between the objective consensual reality and the newly forming subjective affirmative statements increases, there may be tendencies to prove to yourself that you are unhealthy. These tendencies need not be acted upon and, like storm moving through the region, they too pass; and then you may find yourself engaging in behaviors which are more aligned with the newly forming subjective reality of being healthy. What these new behaviors are will vary from individual to individual. There is no prescription as to diet, exercise, etc. The behaviors arise from the subconscious mind which is now accepting the newly forming reality. Although some may argue that you must affirm specifics, this writer believes the more generic, the greater the chance of allowing the creative subconscious mind to organize and formulate the necessary components of that reality without undue influence from the conditioned conscious mind.

There are a number of simple, generic affirmations that can be practiced. For example, “I am competent,” “I am efficient,” I am relaxed,” are some very simple affirmative statements that if practiced regularly can impact the subconscious mind in such a way as to bring about behaviors that are in alignment with that affirmation. Here is a longer affirmation that can be useful to repeat upon awakening in the morning and upon retiring in the evening: “I am a unique person, wonderful in many ways. I am gifted with the freedom to make choices and the means to act. I live in a world of possibilities and respond with intelligence. I am alert to what is happening around me. I can communicate. I am able to reason and I can learn. I will often remember…I am a unique person, wonderful in many ways.”

Few would argue the formative power of thought. Every single tool in our culture, from a simple hammer to space shuttles was first a thought in the mind. And clearly language plays a critically important role in thinking. Sometimes crafting an appropriate and accurate affirmative statement requires some assistance by a psychological wordsmither. RC Airplanes – A Guide For the Beginning Flier, Part II

RC Airplanes – A Guide For the Beginning Flier, Part II

Flying radio control aircraft is a thrilling hobby and a fantastic way to spend quality time with friends and family. “How to” books and videos for both RC airplanes and helicopters can be helpful to hobbyists of all skill levels, but particularly those who are new to the hobby. A quick on-line search will reveal a wide range of instructional materials on RC airplanes, and you can find informative and entertaining videos on various aspects of RC flying on the Internet for free.

Another option which I highly recommend, both for learning and honing your aviation skills, is virtual flying with an RC flight simulator. It’s almost like the real thing, it can be done in any weather, at any time of day or night and, believe me, virtual crashes beat real ones every time. You can’t completely avoid crash landings – even the pros make mistakes sometimes, and your plane will eventually get damaged as a result – but a flight simulator will give you the experience you need to lessen those mishaps and so end up saving you money in the short and long run.

RC simulators are available for either RC airplanes only or for both planes and helicopters, and can be downloaded or purchased as kits. Prices have come down quite a bit since flight simulators for PCs were first marketed some twenty years ago, while the graphics and handling response have improved immeasurably; the realism of some the flight experience on the higher-end models is incredible! And you’re not just limited to one model or even category of aircraft–the better simulators allow you to learn to fly electric and internal combustion-powered RC airplanes, as well as helicopters, jets, even gliders. Having a good quality simulator is like having dozens of aircraft to train on! For learning the basics of radio control aviation, simulators are the next best thing to the flying field, and will allow you to continue to sharpen your skills and learn new techniques, as you move past the beginner stage.

The Thank You Economy (TYE) by Gary Vaynerchuk Business Book Review – 6 Beginning TYE Company Ways

The Thank You Economy (TYE) by Gary Vaynerchuk Business Book Review – 6 Beginning TYE Company Ways

Entrepreneur extraordinaire, Internet rock star and Crush It! author, Gary Vaynerchuk, returns with his second book, entitled The Thank You Economy.

The Thank You Economy heralds an era when companies, big and small, are developing authentic, meaningful interactions with customers. Those bonds are nurtured by Web 2.0 technology, known as social media. Consumers are now empowered to make or break a brand or business via these web applications.

Success in the Thank You Economy depends on obsessively caring about the customer, Vaynerchuk says. That concern must originate with a company’s top brass and filtrate throughout the organization. To ensure that the correct message is being shared; concentrate first on your employees instead of the competition or customer service. Vaynerchuk describes six strategies on how to incorporate the Thank You Economy in your establishment:

1. Begin With Yourself. Strong self-awareness makes a strong culture possible. Remember who you are, whether you’re a CEO, an executive, or a mid-level manager, and the qualities that have produced your current success. It’s extremely important as you work towards developing, sustaining and spreading the company culture. Once the Thank You Economy is ingrained in your overall vision and strategy, you can successfully incorporate it throughout your business or department.

2. Commit Whole Hog. Commit mentally first to embrace the Thank You Economy, which includes investing in social media initiatives. Unwavering company leadership determined to create a culture of supersized caring, will persevere during inevitable setbacks.

3. Set The Tone. Leaders committed to building a caring culture; need to send a strong, clear message about their intent. Employees should be able to feel the difference immediately. They should be able to view their leaders as examples of the care, concern and one-on-one customer interactions expected of them.

4. Invest In Employees. Too many leaders insufficiently invest in their employees. They fear losing out when employees leave. Any employee investment you make will be safe if they believe you really care about them and their future. Prove that you value your employees above all else. Give them the freedom to ask for what they want, to experiment and be themselves. Employees who choose to leave for bigger and better positions at other companies are ambitious people. Ideally, you want driven people on staff because they preserveyour company’s reputation as a place where people can advance their career. You’ll attract the best and brightest talent. When people are happy they want to make other people happy. To make your customers happy in the Thank You Economy; begin with your employees.

5. Trust Your People. Creating a Thank You Economy culture becomes easier as you begin hiring people who share your commitment to caring. Create a culture of openness. Let your employees’ blog and tweet as much as they like. Let them be themselves. Authenticity is a vital part of what makes social media initiatives work. If an unhappy employee uses social media to malign your company, question their intent. Today, there is very little an employee can say to hurt your company that you can’t fix if you act with speed and good intent.

6. Be Authentic. Legacy trumps everything. People can sense insincerity. Social media often decides how a brand or company survives a false story in the Thank You Economy. It has the power to spread articles, images, video and audio recordings worldwide within minutes.

If you’re new to the Thank You Economy experience, or interested in it’s latest information, Gary Vaynerchuk, a quintessential entrepreneur and visionary, leads the way.

Cooking Tips For the Beginning Cook

Cooking Tips For the Beginning Cook

Learning to cook takes a bit of practical knowledge. Here are some cooking tips for those new to the process of cooking, some may seem like common sense while others may leave you with that wonderful aha moment. Today we will focus on boiling and how it is done to achieve the best results.

Boiling or “the preparation of meat by hot water”, though one of the simplest tasks in the cooking process, requires a bit of attention. Boiled meat should be tender, savory, and full of its own juice. Often though, through lack of care and even plain old ignorance of the chef, it is too often sent to the table hard, and tasteless.

To make sure that you boil your meal successfully, the temperature of the stove must be regulated with a watchful eye, the right  amount of water must be kept up in the pot, and the scum which rises to the surface must be judiciously removed. Use filtered water, if at all possible. Otherwise some of the chemical taste of tap water will become part of the taste of your meal. If you do not drink from the tap, then why would you cook with it?

When boiling water, it does not matter if you reach the boiling point gradually with a medium heat setting or if you place the stove on high and get there faster. Once water is at that  point it is as hot as it will get. So place the temperature of the stove at a point that is convenient for you. If you are going to stay by the stove, by all means set it on the highest setting. If you want time to chop vegetables and prepare then set it at a medium setting. As a rule, the pot should be kept in a simmering state; a result which cannot be attained without proper care.

The scum that rises to the top of the pot while boiling needs to be carefully removed, otherwise it will attach itself to the meat. As you can imagine, this is not the most attractive thing you can allow to happen to your meal. You must remember to skim the top during the whole process.  So if you do intend to do other preparation during this process, do it close by so you can keep up with this skimming process.

When you take the pieces from the pot, they must be wiped with a clean cloth. Do not allow it to stand too long before you eat it, as boiled meals are best eaten immediately after they are removed from the stove.

How much time does it take to cook meat in this way? This is dependent on the size and quality. Generally speaking, twenty minutes, from the moment when the process begins, for every pound of meat. The longer you boil it, the more tender it will be.

And that is the long and the short of it. This process of cooking does not have to be difficult. You simply need to pay attention to the heat, and the time and to keep skimming the top of the pot. As far as cooking tips go, it is fairly simple.
