As people begin to realize the importance and value of our thoughts in creating the life we desire (or the life we have, but would like to change), affirmations can be instrumental in re-training ourselves in how to think. Before we begin thinking, we start out a relatively clean slate.

As we pick up beliefs and ways of thinking throughout life we begin to think that who we think we are is who we actually are.  This is not the absolute truth.  In actuality, we are much more than we could ever imagine and the negative stuff we have picked up along the way is something we can part with, because it’s not our true essence.

The purpose of affirmations is to affirm the truth and desires about ourselves and our circumstances. What can happen as we begin to focus on what we want and actually verbalize those desires in the form of affirmations, is the stuff that gets in our way will let itself be known.  This is the stuff that life has caused us to believe is really us.

Are affirmations a way to circumvent reality?  Some people use them that way, but clearly intentional use will yield the truth every time: affirmations only affirm what is really inside.  It just needs some affirmation to be fully realized, inside and out.

When people view an affirmation as a band-aid to a problem, the problem they are referring to is the stuff that has stopped you from feeling that the affirmation is true, through and through. Affirmations are most useful when put into practice as a tool to help one get to know him or herself better through clarifying wants and determining unhelpful thoughts and patterns so they can be released.  That ensures the affirmation is healing the cause and not being used as a band-aid.

Your True Self knows you are totally lovable and loving, that you have every resource available to you (even if it is in a different form than you may expect), and that you can make your life into what you want it to be. However, your ego or inner critic, will tell you otherwise.

Practicing affirmations deserves your full attention.  It is of great value to bring affirmations into your life to invite the stuff blocking your way to come up and show you where you can let go and let your True Self shine through. All you need to do is make a simple commitment to yourself: I will be open to be with what is coming up.

You do not always need to know exactly what the issue is that is presenting itself, or the root cause. If it does show itself to you, that is fine. If not, the feeling can still be tended to.

When uncomfortable feelings or thought patterns rise to the surface, much like bubbles coming up from an underwater spring, allow yourself to be with them. Take a few deep breaths and refrain from giving them names (if they don’t have a script running already) or getting involved in the story that goes with them. Ask your feeling or thought what they are about if you desire. Know that acknowledging the uncomfortable feeling will help it dissolve. Do not push against it for that is what has kept it with you to this point.

If you find yourself resisting feeling negative emotion simply remember that it is okay to feel what you feel!  Dealing with painful or stressful emotions or thoughts can be well handled through first allowing yourself to feel them by deeply breathing and following your breath into your body while imagining it cleansing and honoring the emotion, and second, seeking out some techniques to assist if they persist. Working through emotions can be achieved through a coaching session as well.

To get started with affirmations, it is as easy as bringing to mind some statements that on some level you know to be true or you would like to feel the truth of such as: I love me. I am perfect, whole, and worth of goodness. I am financially free. Begin by saying and writing these statements to yourself at least 5 times per day, 10-20 will have a more profound effect. This is the power of changing your thoughts with deliberate action.

As you progress, remember the importance of allowing whatever is standing in your way to come up and dissolve. It may also be helpful to ask yourself questions about your affirmations such as

How would it be possible for me to be financially free?

Why do I love myself?

What about me is perfect and whole?

It is initially natural to question one’s self so use your mind to your advantage in this manner!

Affirmations are not a band-aid.  They are an affirmation of who you truly are and what you can truly do with your life when you learn to believe them.  To believe something you must think it over and over again.

Using affirmations is helpful along any journey to self-love and conscious creation of your life.  It is important to realize that creating affirmations with clear intention is a learned skill.  Start with affirmations that are just out of your belief, but you think may be true. For instance, if saying I love me to yourself feels funny, but sort of true you can stretch it to include other affirmatve statements like I love me and I am fun to be around or I am open to loving myself and I am learning to like myself.

To help yourself get out of your own way, be gentle with yourself as you change and grow and modify your affirmations as necessary.  If an affirmation does not feel good, change it!  Use affirmations daily and often for as long as you desire and know that many people use them for months to feel and notice a substantial change.  We create our thought patterns that are not helpful and use them for decades.  To re-train ourselves it takes some time as well.  Perseverance pays off!

When saying an affirmation to yourself get centered first, take a deep breath, and connect with the feeling of your affirmation, believing it to be true.  In combination with becoming aware of what stands in your way and a commitment to unite with your true self, affirmations are a great tool to discover the true you!

Powerful Affirmations are a constructive and time-tested way to creating real change that lasts, but unless you have crafted your affirmations correctly to cater for your needs and desires, over time you may not experience the change or results you were looking for. You might have other great methods for making positive change such as goal lists, dream cards, vision boards etc. Though affirmations are by far the ultimate tool to add to your self-growth toolbox. Affirmations take on the role of aligning your desires with your personal beliefs.

When they do become in harmony with one another, manifesting your goals and dreams become virtually effortless. Using affirmations correctly is crucial to making them effective and aligning yourself. If you’re not using them correctly or you feel your affirmations are not working for you could be striking a misalignment. For example. You may have a list of affirmations that you have come up with that you want to start working with in your life. If you find when you are saying your affirmations that you don’t truly believe it, then this can cause misalignment. An easy way to identify a misalignment towards particular affirmations is to take your attention into how you feel when you say them. Is there any feeling of inner conflict or inadequacy? Any uncomfortable feeling in your stomach or chest that disagrees with what you’re saying? If you feel this in any way, this is where you’re causing the misalignment.

You’re saying the Affirmations but your subconscious doesn’t agree or want to believe it yet. Affirmations work tremendously well, as for my own experiences. It’s just a matter of crafting and wording them well. When creating your first set of powerful positive affirmations, there is a simple but one powerful formula you can use. First, identify what’s bothering you and what you want to change. There could be a few you come up with to do with your finances, your health or relationships. The second step is to identify the exact opposite of what you don’t want. For example financial freedom or toned body. Finally, find a word or phrase that sums up its opposite quality. Keep it general and add the words “I am” at the start of the phrase. For a complete example. If you feel you are struggling financially, you may often think ‘poor’ thoughts, sometimes without being aware. Well the opposite of ‘poor’ is clearly ‘wealth’.

So you would make an affirmation where you’re saying “I am wealth”. Once you come up with a few powerful and positive affirmations, it’s important you test them out. When you test your affirmations make sure you feel good and satisfied about yourself. Keep an eye out for any discomfort or inadequacy. It’s sometimes only a matter of changing and searching for the right words till you find something that you are comfortable with. You will know when you’ve found the right word, when you feel comfortable saying your affirmation and it feels true to you. So, referring back to our example. If you say “I am rich” and the word ‘rich’ just doesn’t feel right or bothers in any way, this word is probably not suitable and clashes with you in some way. Try changing it up a little like “I am comfortable and secure in my finances” or “I am financially independent”. Sculpture your affirmations to any area of your life.

Make them powerful and satisfying. If you feel uplifted and smile when you say them, you’ve got it. You can craft affirmations towards anything of material and spiritual, and are very effective. Once you’ve compiled your set of tested affirmations and are happy with them. Get into practice saying them twice a day, but at least once a day. The best time is in the morning just after waking up. This is a great time because your mind is not fully active yet. Between sleep and waking your brain is in Alpha mode, it’s relaxed and you can conduct your affirmations before your thoughts start getting too busy and any kind of negative thought starts. If you are to do it twice a day, which is recommended, especially when you’re first starting out with your affirmations, repeat it like mantra at certain times throughout your day.

Preferably when you’re not to occupied, like when you’re on a break or even whilst driving. Repeating your powerful positive affirmations daily will set your tone, making it set like cement into your mind. The power behind the simple words “I am” can transform your life. You will notice after time that your default way of thinking has altered and any previous conditioning or thoughts about yourself or life has gradually diminished. When you start to notice the difference in your thinking, and notice you are thinking more positively this is a sign that you’re affirmations are working. You’ve aligned your desires with your beliefs. You will start to manifest new and better things out of your new thought patterns. You now have ingrained within your mind, a more dominant positive thinking pattern, with repeated use of powerful positive affirmations.

The affect of powerful positive thinking can have on your life is tremendous! The Law of Attraction responds to every thought we have, be it positive or negative. Trash Your Budget and Become Financially Independent

Trash Your Budget and Become Financially Independent

Annoyed with Your Budget?

How much money do I have left in my wallet? What about my bank account? Should I use my credit card or cash, since I don’t want my wife to know what I am buying? Why can’t I even allow myself to enjoy a Latte just because it’s not on the budget. This whole budget thing is a bunch of rubbish. From today, I resolve, I am trashing it. No More Budget!

If you feel like that sometimes, you are not alone. There are millions of us out here that want this anti-budget revolution. Besides, even governments all over the globe grapple with the same budget issue. Churches have been known to close – “no more mission trips pastor, no more evangelism, no more baptism, no more church choir, you have exceeded the budget allocation.” I am sure some parents can think of times they entertained the thought of postponing the kids’ birthdays – “sorry David, you are not turning ten this year.”

Do budgets work at all, or is it an illusion preached by so many business schools?

I think so many of us have been taught to believe and think that we need a budget to manage our finances. That we need a budget to manage our lives. We need one to prosper and become financially independent. How come we breath without a budget on the air supply, or is there one? or budget how many times in a day your eyes must blink, failure to which, you’ll run out of blinking for the next two weeks, until the next budget. And, I am not saying this just to be comical. Many people struggle with budgeting and yet we insist it must be used.Personally, I have struggled to come up with an elaborate budget, later on religiously follow it.

If budgeting comes naturally to you, God bless your soul. But for most people, it’s a constant struggle that continues to bring disastrous results. People are living under stress because of being too hard on themselves for not sticking to their budgets. Marriages and partnerships have ended because of budgeting. I know, you will be tempted to say, maybe they broke up because they didn’t stick to a budget. Off course they didn’t, and that’s my point. Why insist on something that isn’t working for you. Why not find something workable instead. Something that will inspire you to follow unconsciously.

Budgets are meant for people, not people for the budgets. You have to control the budget, not the budget controlling you. You have gotten it all twisted and that’s why you continue to be under stress. It’s a guide. So, if it doesn’t lead you where you want to go, toss it. The idea of a budget is meant to protect you against yourself. Anything that is made to protect you against yourself is unsustainable. True growth, has to come from within. You have to grow your capacity for control and a budget wont change your personality.

If you love shopping, a budget will be your stumbling block, and whether you choose to shop or stick to your budget, either way, you’ll still be frustrated. Budgets don’t generally work because they are not fun. Anything that takes away your happiness cannot truly help you. And, don’t get me wrong, I am not advocating for recklessness with your money. I am of the view that a budget is not what you need to take control of your finances or to put your life on track. Soon, I’ll explain what I have discovered works for me. This isn’t my original idea, but It was made clearer to me when I read a little book by David Bach called the “The Automatic Millionaire.”

There is a better way to putting your life on track towards financial independence.

It’s called a system. Put a system in place that will do things on your behalf and you are on your way to true freedom.

1 – “Pay yourself first.” and this can take many forms. Paying yourself first entails taking a percentage of your income and invest it before you even pay taxes and bills. Chances are, you already know how much you require to make a living from your income. Make sure you have it done on your behalf before you even see the money. In short, let your employer or bank do the job for you. With the Internet bringing so much convenience, you don’t need to worry about forgetting to pay your bills, credits, rentals, etc. Instruct the bank to do it automatically.

2 – Have some fun. Once you have cleared this huddle of handling money using an automatic system that does consistently what you desire, it’s time for some fun. All work without fun, made Joe a dull boy. Take yourself and some friends once in a while to some nice restaurant. Buy yourself the toy you desire. After all you deserve it. Surprise your loved ones. Enjoy life with less stress, while having a goal big enough to inspire you.

3 – Stop buying things on credit. If you can’t pay for something with cash, you can’t afford it. Period. For heavens sake don’t even think of getting more credit cards. If you bought your Flat screen TV using your credit card, let it be the last time you did such a silly thing. Commit to fully pay off your credit cards and ensure you pay more than the minimum monthly payment. You cannot build your financial future on debt. The only debt you should have is one that helps you make money- like real estate debt. Make the payments automatic.

4 – Watch the little things. You can save a lot of money baking your own bread. You don’t need a muffin or marble pound cake every morning from Starbucks. My wife and I started baking our own healthy bread and buns and we have saved substantially ever since. This may not appear to be a lot when you are looking at your receipt, but over time these small expenses compound. You’ll beat yourself once you discover they are equivalent to your month’s rentals after half a year.

5 – Cancel some of those unnecessary cable channels, next generation phone plans which you don’t even know what they mean (what’s 4G?), or gym memberships that you never use. Stop buying bottled water, diet this-diet that – stop obsessing over counting calories and start running or walking, join some sport, dancing club or whatever. Do something physically active. No one loses weight counting calories. You have to be active and actually do something. Learn to cook your own meals and only go out when you have to.

6 – Throw away all your old budgets that will remind you of your prison days. Unless budgets work for you, don’t impose them on others. Stick to your plan and let the automatic system do the work for you.

If you are serious about investment advice, I recommend that you buy the little copy “the Automatic Millionaire – A powerful One-Step plan to Live and Finish Rich.” by David Back. I am not in any way affiliated to David or his company in case you think I am advertising for him. I bought the book, read and applied some principles from it. They worked and continue to work for me.

For now, don’t beat yourself if you are failing to stick to your budget. Trash your budgets and get on the automatic anti-budget system. Welcome to true freedom!

Positive Affirmations, how do they work? What changes can I expect?

Affirmations are one of the tools you can use to radically change your life. There is nothing new age, mystic, trendy or fashionable about them. Affirmation is part of an ancient ‘ Secret’, re-discovered and brought back to the limelight by TV. film and press, transforming with it several people into very wealthy gurus.

Affirmations have been around since man found the use of language and there is no secret ritual to use them.

You can basically have anything you want! This tool, if used correctly, will help you change, grow, and heal yourself.

I want to introduce you to the basics of positive affirmation and positive thinking. Later on you may want to surf the web and find out more about this fascinating subject.

When you start the affirmations, give yourself at least a thirty day tryout period. Depending on the seriousness of the problem you may need more time and more affirmations to achieve your goals. Talk to your family and friends about your resolution to change and ask them for their support. If it is a radical change you are envisioning a life-coach will be very useful suggesting the best approach to use and to keep you motivated. This is a big step. Opening up to relatives and friends show your commitment to change and solidify your intentions.

Don’t get discouraged, impatient or put off if nothing happens in a week or two. Just remember that you didn’t become this way overnight.

Affirmations can and will transform your life patterns and perception.

Affirmations support your positive thinking and together they form a very powerful and effective tool. They function as ‘key words’ of positive messages ‘dictated’ directly to the self. You consciously connect and direct your positive thinking to areas of your life that you want to change or heal. It works as a reminder to the self, keeping positive messages at the forefront of consciousness.

The benefits of affirmations are medically well established and really work.

On the other hand negative thoughts are just as powerful. So be aware of your negative thoughts as they are in essence self-destructive ‘key words:’ psychological mechanisms that make your life rotten.

First,  let’s check how aware you are of your thoughts.

Do you regularly have more positive or more negative thoughts running through you mind?

Only you can honestly answer that. So get ready.

If your subconscious is throwing out lots of negative thoughts then you must do some ‘brain-cleaning’ before moving into the desired new positive affirmation mode.

This may be very familiar to you, as your mind swirls with thoughts like: “I don’t like this, I like that, I feel great,  I hate him/her, I am afraid of, I don’t want them to see me like this, I am not sure about that, I feel rotten”.

Your mind incessantly interprets your experiences as an internal dialogue. These thoughts are generated on a deep level by your beliefs which were formed and accumulated from the time you were born.

We can’t control most exterior events of our lives but we do control how we interpret and react to them.

We create our own reality.

When we change our interpretation a change takes place in our reality.

So become aware of your thoughts. If you change your thinking, big changes will happen in your life.

Take a minute to think about why you are reacting to something or someone.

Get in touch with yourself. Accept the fact that these thoughts may have helped you in the past but they are out of place now that you have chosen to accept only positive thoughts and positive living.

While doing the new affirmations your mind will let go of the negative messages even if you are not aware if it.

Watch out also for resistance within yourself. With certain affirmations you may question, “What in the heck” – “are you kidding?”

It is ok, it is an old habit that is about to be changed. You grew up and had these thoughts for almost all of your life. Now it is time to form a new habit and you need lots of practice.

Let’s get started.

What would you like your life to be?

Think about it and write it down.

Fulfillment with your job, a happy family, better health, financial security?

Don’t hold back, go for it.

For the beginners the easiest way is to choose and write down two or three things you want changed.

For example, if you feel unloved and financially strapped, one of your affirmations could be: ” I am now ready to receive more love and wealth” and you may add  ”from the vast supply of the universe”.

If you also wrote down ‘low self-esteem’  the affirmation could be: “I am an awesome man/woman and I feel good about myself”.

Be creative, upfront and fearless. You are making a statement to yourself of your intentions.

Here are a few simple guidelines:

1- Present tense. Start all your affirmations in the present tense and have them already accomplished. You are telling your conscious mind that the affirmative action is taking place NOW and it is final. I AM HAPPY,  I CHOOSE JOY,  I HAVE CONFIDENCE. It is stronger and much more powerful than, I will be happy, or I am becoming happy, and so on.

2- How to phrase your affirmations. You can copy from an extensive list you’ll find on the Internet, use the examples below or simply write it down in your own words. Do it as plainly or as poetically as you speak. ” I am energetic and full of enthusiasm. I am safe, I am a prosperous man/woman. I attract positive people, I release my anger.” Make copies of it and leave it around the house, car and your office desk. The more you are reminded of the positive affirmations the more your mind will accept the new concept you are bringing forth. You will create a new positive reality and the universal energy will do the rest to connect this good energy to other positive energies.

3- Positive means Positive. Your subconscious usually focuses on the verb and relates it to past experiences. If you have fears, phobias or whatever, be careful with your choice of words. If you are afraid and say I am not SCARED, it will register I AM SCARED. The NOT was assimilated and ignored by your mind. Say instead I AM COURAGEOUS or I AM FEARLESS. Don’t use affirmations that have a negative attachment. You can comfortably use I ACCEPT, I CHOOSE, I DESERVE, I AM.  I developed one affirmation to counteract the negative thought that eventually peeks through, so I suggest you add it to the batch,  ”I ACCEPT ONLY THE GOOD AND THE POSITIVE.”

Starting as you wake up, say the affirmations out loud or in your head five times. Repeat the same process three to four more times during the day, the last one just before going to bed.

I suggest you end the affirmation session with a thank you  note. Gratitude will reinforce and validate the affirmations. Thank God, Jesus, a Spirit, the Force, the Universe or whatever you believe and feel comfortable with.

Visualize your affirmations with feelings and emotion. See yourself exactly as you are stating.  It will add an extra psychological dimension and have a much deeper impact on your mind. Using this method of visualization early in the morning and at night will make your affirmations much more successful.

You can use affirmations to help build self-confidence, self-esteem, self-improvement and personal growth. It can also help conquer your fears and anger management. Affirmations have been successfully used to relieve anxiety and depression and are an excellent tool for weight control.

Sometimes finding a perfect affirmation, just for you, can be a little hard. Here are some great money abundance affirmations that we have used in the past or that other Law of Attraction practitioners have e-mailed to us.

The Universe is unlimited. There is more than enough abundance for everyone in this world. When you start intentionally applying the Law of Attraction, a great affirmation is necessary, and feeling confident in your affirmation is imperative. You want to be able to feel and believe it to be absolutely true. Many people have a mindset of “lack.” A good money affirmation can help jump the hurdle of thinking from a space of “lack.”

You’ll also want to find an affirmation that feels attainable. If you choose an affirmation that your logical mind can’t even fathom could happen, then it won’t happen because the Universe will pick up on that thought and feeling. You can start with something small and when that feels attainable take another step toward a larger affirmation. When you take these baby steps your logical mind will become used to the idea of having everything you want, and you will become comfortable with your affirmation.

When you have discovered the money affirmation that works best for you, you’ll want to focus on and say it at least five times a day. Make sure to give your affirmation the attention that it deserves. Close your eyes and feel the words leave your lips. Treat the words like a sacred incantation; that when you speak the words, the Universe drops everything and rushes exactly what you are affirming to you.

Make sure that you do not ‘outgrow’ your affirmation. When you feel like the original affirmation just isn’t doing it for you, change to something that reflects your growing positive thoughts and feelings. And when your affirmation has completely aligned with the Universe, you’ll want to bump it up a notch to reflect your newfound life.

Perhaps these affirmations will ring true with you.

Money Affirmation 1: I create my own reality and I have unlimited prosperity.

Money Affirmation 2: Financial abundance comes to me easily.

Money Affirmation 3: Large amounts of money come to me quickly and easily from multitudes of sources.

Money Affirmation 4: I always have abundant amounts of money; more coming in than going out.

Money Affirmation 5: Unlimited possibilities and resources reveal themselves to me now.

Money Affirmation 6: I am comfortable having money.

Money Affirmation 7: Money is good and I deserve money.

Money Affirmation 8: I feel successful and I am successful.

Money Affirmation 9: I have more money than I ever dreamed was possible.

Money Affirmation 10: I expect only the best from my financial situation and the Universe provides just that or better.

Money Affirmation 11: I have a constant stream of money abundance in my life.

Money Affirmation 12: I have my ideal life.

Money Affirmation 13: I am able to think and feel in unlimited ways.

Money Affirmation 14: I have all the answers within myself and I implement them.

Money Affirmation 15: I am financially free.

These are just a few affirmations to get you started. Enjoy creating and making affirmations a part of your life. Affirmations are one of the wonderful tools to use in attracting all you desire through the Law of Attraction
