You’ve probably heard that saying affirmations over and over again can change your life. Or that viewing your affirmations on a daily basis can create changes. Or you might have cds that play affirmations for you.

But do affirmations really work?

The answer is yes and no.

Let me explain.

The right affirmations, done properly and applied with other techniques can really make a difference. The wrong affirmations, said the wrong way and not applied properly will be completely ineffective and can create disasters in your life.

So just how do you use affirmations in the right way so that you get maximum results?

1. Be aware of how affirmations work

2. Know how to create them

3. Experience them in the deeper levels of your sub-conscious mind

4. Use them for certain time periods and at powerful times

1. AFFIRMATIONS ARE REALLY CONTROLLED THOUGHTS

Thoughts are instructions sent to your subconscious mind. Thoughts repeated regularly become beliefs. After a while you start to believe what you repeatedly think. And, when your beliefs change,

your world changes.

Thoughts create reality. Thoughts are forms of energy. Everything on the physical plane has a spiritual counterpart.

Visible forms of energy, such as money, your clothes, and the car that you drive, once were invisible. They were once thoughts that coalesced into form and density until they materialized on this

physical plane. Everything that exists on the material plane, once existed in the world of thought, in a realm that is infinite and that is not bound by time or space

Thoughts are your hidden allies that you can use to get things to happen.

2. HOW TO CREATE AFFIRMATIONS

Before thoughts can transform into visible forms of energy, they need to be energized in a certain way.

Below are examples of weak affirmations vs. powerful, energized affirmations. See the notes below to understand why they are weak vs. powerful.

Weak Affirmations

A) “I pray that I can get rid of my debt soon”

C) “I will meet the love of my life one day when I least expect it”

Powerful Affirmations

B) “I am thankful for creating huge financial success right now

in an easy and enjoyable manner.”

D) “I know exactly what to do to realize a joyful relationship

with my dream partner and I am thankful for being guided every day.”

Affirmation A — is too vague and is likely to produce vague results at best. Even worse, this affirmation focuses on a negative thing— “debt” and by focusing on debt, you’re likely to actually create more debt in your life. Train yourself to focus your attention on what you want and to avoid thinking about what you

don’t want. Put your energy into happy thoughts.

Affirmation C — is vague and focuses on the future. With this type of affirmation, you are likely to delay producing the relationship you desire since you are essentially telling the universe to give it to you in the future (“I will”) rather than now. You could be waiting a long time.

Affirmation B and D — use the powerful “I am” decree and these words put you in the present (“I am now”) rather than the past or future. When using “I am”, only use positive thoughts; negatives

are best placed in the past. Lastly, these goals are detailed and as such the universe knows clearly what to deliver to you.

3. ENERGIZE YOUR AFFIRMATIONS

Focus on your affirmations throughout the day, especially when you’re in a meditative-type state such as theta.

When your mind quiets down, and you access deeper levels of consciousness your thoughts are more energized and more powerful. When you are in a deep state, such as theta, your sub-conscious mind

is more receptive to commands. It’s especially important that you focus only on want you want and avoid all thoughts about what you do not want. Be keenly aware of your thoughts and only hold those

thoughts that you want to materialize.

Get into the spirit of what you desire. Feel it as if what you desire has already happened. Then, let it go.

Relax and trust that your goal is now in the process of being materialized. Many people have difficulty relaxing because they are filled with doubts. Be aware that by associating heavy emotions,

such as tension and doubt, with your goals, you are making it difficult to materialize your goals.

Achieve your goals faster than you thought possible when you relax and energize your ideas during states of theta.

4. BE AWARE OF THE POWER OF NUMBERS AND POWER TIMES

Don’t allow yourself to be discouraged if nothing seems to happen when you practice affirmations. Reserve judgment. Keep at it. It takes 21 days to break a habit. It takes 40 days to make a new habit

and 90 days to lock it in. From a shamanic perspective, the most powerful times to focus on

your goals and affirmations are at sunrise and sunset.

Humans are plugged into the natural world. We don’t function separately from it. We are deeply connected with it. As such, the earth and the natural rhythms affect us. For example, when the sun goes down, we naturally get sleepy.

At dawn and dusk, our brain waves (rhythms) are closer to theta. Theta corresponds to the world of spirit. And, when we are closer to spirit, we have a stronger effect on the material plane.

Thoughts are invisible forms of energy that live in the world of spirit. When they are energized enough, they materialize on the physical plane.

That doesn’t mean that you only focus on your affirmations during those two times of the day. It means that you take advantage of those times to give your affirmations extra power.

You need to say and feel your affirmations, as explained above, regularly throughout the day.

If you say an affirmation just once or twice a day but for the rest of the day fill your mind with negative thoughts, you’ll eliminate the power of your affirmations.

If you want to get a new job and you say a positive affirmation about finding a new job, but then follow it up with a series of negative thoughts such as “There are no good jobs.” or “Nobody’s hiring during this bad economy…” That kind of attitude will lead to negative results, like not finding a job or finding a job that

you don’t like.

Yes, you can absolutely get affirmations to work if you create the right affirmations, apply them correctly and use techniques to energize them.

A powerful way to energize your affirmations and goals, is to access the deeper levels of your mind. I highly recommend going into theta to energize your affirmations.

Creative Writing Journal – 5 Biggest Mistakes That Make Using A Creative Writing Journal Ineffective

Creative Writing Journal – 5 Biggest Mistakes That Make Using A Creative Writing Journal Ineffective

Using a creative writing journal is the most effective way in reaching your creative writing potential.

It can help you have a greater number of ideas, have more vivid and powerful ideas, reduce the blank screen syndrome of writers block, and allow you to write more deeply, more fluidly and more often.

But only if you use it in the right way!

Here are the 5 biggest mistakes we make that mean using a creative writing journal is frustratingly ineffective, and how to turn these mistakes around:

1. Always looking for the perfect writing journal. Much like some of us may be on a lifelong quest for the perfect handbag, car, or partner, going through versions that don’t quite live up to our perfect expectations like a starving fox goes through a coop of chickens, you may be waiting for the perfect writing journal.

It’s the same affliction – perfectionism. It doesn’t matter if your journal is a children’s exercise book that cost a few pence, what matters is that you use it. The more you use it, the easier it becomes and the better your creative writing.

2. Having a creative writing journal you’re scared to use. Maybe you decided to invest in a beautiful leather bound journal encrusted with rare jewels that you had to re-mortgage your house to purchase.

Ok maybe that’s a slight exaggeration. The point is if you have a creative writing journal that is so beautiful or expensive you’re afraid to write in it, it’s not serving its purpose. Get another journal that won’t intimidate you and start using it right away.

3. Not taking your creative writing journal with you wherever you go. So you bought a creative writing journal and can’t wait to use. The trouble is it’s sitting there on your shelf unused because you keep forgetting to take it out with you.

Put your creative writing journal somewhere you can’t forget to take it with you. By your house keys is a great place. Whenever you leave the house, grab your keys, and grab your writing journal, so you’re always ready to capture those creative ideas!

4. Not developing any of the ideas you capture. Maybe you have been using a creative writing journal and it’s full of great ideas for creative writing. This part of the process you have down to a fine art, congratulations.

But you’re not ever doing anything with these ideas, they’re just lying unloved in your journal. Show them the respect they deserve! Every week, or even every day, open your creative writing journal, pick the first idea that excites and inspires you, and start writing…

5. Not capturing ideas in enough detail. You’ve been taking your creative writing journal out wherever you go, and noting down ideas when they’ve come to you. Now your journal is packed with ideas waiting to be developed.

Except when you go to expand on them, the ideas are too vague, there’s no passion in them, they don’t inspire you. Ensure that when you first capture your ideas, you write enough detail so that when you return to them they’ll hit you with the same force and excitement as when they first came to you. The more you do this, the easier it becomes.

These are the 5 biggest mistakes that make using a creative writing journal ineffective. Which do you relate to?

Take these tips on board today, start using you’re a creative writing journal in the way that works best for you, and see the positive change in your creative writing.

Recently I responded to an email that posed the question, “How well do these affirmations really work?” Below is the response that I sent the person who asked the question. There are a number of important points that will be helpful to others, so I’m reprinting the information. Here it is…

The answer is that it depends on you and how well you apply them. One person can take a single principle outlined in the affirmations and become so inspired that they make millions. Others can listen to all of the affirmations a couple of times and do nothing with them. Sorry I can’t be more definite than that, but that’s the truth.

I think that the better question to ask “are the Power Affirmations are based on sound principles that can lead to success?” The answer is absolutely. Here are some of the primary principles that they are based on:

1. The Power Affirmations are stated in the positive. We become what we think about most of the time–our dominating thoughts.

2. The power of repetition of positive thought and suggestion. Repetition mixed combined with belief and a positive enthusiasm is the fastest way to condition your subconscious mind. The whole adverstising industry is based upon repetition of suggestive thought aimed at getting people to buy their products. Does it work? Just take a look at the trillions of dollars American’s spend each year largely as the result of billions of dollars spent on advertising. Successful business people are not stupid. They spend a lot of money on advertising because they know repetition of thought leads to people taking action to buy their products.

3. These power affirmations are foundational. As you listen to the power affirmations, you will find that there is a natural progression to the thoughts within the sections or (“discs”) and the sections themselves. This is not by accident. I initially created the program for myself with no intention of selling it or even sharing it with others. I went through the books that had the greatest impact on my life and extracted the primary points that I wanted to condition in my mind and translated them into Power Affirmations.

4. The power of multisensory learning. What do I mean by this? We have 5 senses–sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. The more of the senses you can involve in learning, mixed with repetition and emotion, the faster you will learn. With the Power Affirmation recordings, you have an easy way to involve the senses of sound, sight, and touch (or feeling). Sound is obvious. You can involve the sense of sight by using the power affirmation posters or screen savers. Or just by looking at the list of affirmations in the eBook. Even more powerfully, using your creative vision and imagination. Feeling is involved when you add “physiology”–such moving your body with a feeling of certainty as you listen to or repeat the Power Affirmations. Tony Robins talks a lot about that concept in his books and seminars.

5. These affirmations are general. While there are specific concepts, there is no mention of specific goals or amounts of money, etc. Again this is by design so that anyone can use them. As you get better with using affirmations and more familiar with the language patterns, you will want to create specific Power Affirmations for your own situation–especially setting your Definite Major Purpose or Mission in life. For example, one of my personal power affirmations is related to reaching over 1,000,000 people with my free affirmations eBook and website by March 31, 2008. Or someone may want to target a specific weight amount if they over weight. But you have to learn to walk before you can run–and that’s where these affirmation recordings excel. You have to condition your mind so that your predominating thoughts are of success, health, happiness, prosperity, etc. in order for more specific affirmations to be effective. Then add power affirmations based on specific goals.

6. It’s best to use the affirmations in conjunction with a goal planning system. This is why I include an explanation of my RAP planning system in my eBook. It’s simple, but effective. That’s because you are organizing your plans on a daily basis around specific goals and measuring your progress daily. Even though the explanation of the system is only a few pages, this alone could be worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars to you. Why do I say that? I personally spent years of study and trial and error and thousands of dollars trying to find a way to plan and manage my life and my time. This is the ONLY system I have been able to consistently use (for several years now) to consistently achieve my goals. The key here is that the daily plans are ORGANIZED. While using a “to do” list is better than nothing, it’s generally ineffective and worse leads to stress and overwhelm. If you have any ambition (and obviously you do), if you create a random list of things you have to do and want to do, it will quickly become overwhelming if you don’t find a way to organize it. By the way, the idea for RAP came to me in a flash of inspiration while I was listening to my Power Affirmations.

7. The power of concentration and focus. When you read or listen to an audio recording, most of the information goes by so quickly that you don’t really have an opportunity to savor and meditate on a specific point in order to extract the full value. The recordings help you to focus your thoughts around the key points so that you are able to firmly plant it into your mind to give it the best opportunity to attract similar thoughts. This allows you to take advantage of the law of sowing and reaping–multiplication. This is a law of nature that you can easily see all around you.

For example, if you plant a single seed of corn, nurture it and care for it, eventually, it will bring forth a plant that has multiple ears of corn on it. And each ear of corn has multiple seeds. In fact, from that one seed of corn, not only are you able to grow enough to eat a portion of it, there is also more than enough to plant more seeds next season. Over a number of seasons of seedtime and harvest, that single seed of corn can lead to a whole field of corn (this is why I say super abundance is a law of nature–the multiplicative process of seedtime and harvest). Think of each thought as a seed. As it grows into maturity, it attracts a number of thoughts of a similar nature. Before long, the mind is saturated with these dominating thoughts. This is why it is so important to protect your mind from any kind of negative influence or thought suggestion. The best way to protect yourself is by continuously planting positive thoughts and nurturing them. And learning to recognize negative thoughts and avoiding them.

With agriculture, there is a definite season for seed time and harvest that operates like clockwork. You can’t plant a seed of corn and come back the next day to reap the harvest. The great thing about sowing positive seeds of thought is that there is no set time for the harvest to come. While time is a factor, there are other steps you can take to accelerate your progress–such as concentration.

Well, that’s all that I have time for for now. I’m sure if I thought about it, there’s a lot more I could say. But that’s because this has been my area of focus for a long time–really ever since I first read Think and Grow Rich back in the late 70′s. What is really important is that you get started immediately. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you have to know everything about affirmations before you will start to receive the benefits. Start with just listening daily and going through the RAP process. RAP will help you measure your personal progress. Be patient. Allow yourself to grow. Remember, seedtime and harvest. The harvest will come soon enough, but only if you sow the seeds and nurture them. It can come faster than you may currently think is possible–it’s all up to you.

Any thought we have or any word we say is affirmation. Affirmations are directly linked to our sub-consciousness which influences it to guide our conscious that can lead us to a certain direction which can either bring a positive or negative change. Scientific affirmations refer to healing of the body through specific affirmations developed by professional hypnotists and scientists. While regular everyday affirmations are useful, scientific healing ones are particularly useful.

A book ‘SCIENTIFIC HEALING AFFIRMATIONS’ by Paramahansa Yogananda published in 1960′s thoroughly explains the theory of scientific healing affirmations. This book first explains that affirmations are words or thoughts sent forth due to our ego or soul. Furthermore, exaggeration or falsehood makes words ineffective. Man’s word should be truth and have a feeling of realization only then the affirmations will work. According to ‘Scientific Healing Affirmations’ these affirmations are linked to our sub consciousness which is further linked to cosmic consciousness, or God. By repeating scientific healing affirmations we are sure to be heard by God but at the same time throw out any doubt in God’s power and truly belief that God’s power can heal you or others. All affirmations, in order to reach sub consciousness must be free from doubts and uncertainties. As one makes use of affirmations, the attitude should be complete devotion and clear understanding for example will affirmations should be accompanied with strong determination or feeling by complete devotion. Also while healing others, select an affirmation that is suitable to emotional temperament of your patient.

While the inclusion of God is debated by many scientific researchers, the fact that these scientific healing affirmations work is not. Many mental or physical problems can be cured by finding out deep roots of the diseases hidden within these sub consciousness. The medicines or electrical method that we use only fix obvious bodily diseases.

According to ‘Scientific Healing Affirmations,’ to prevent and get rid of mental disease we must have faith in God and should prefer peace. Free the mind from all negative and disturbing thoughts and get rid of all bad habits. Firmly belief in you new good thoughts and stand firmly against violent emotions. Keeping the mind purer is the most superior form of hygiene and when the mind is pure; a person is kept away from many diseases. For curing of mental diseases one should concentrate on the opposite quality of the disease such as anger should be replaced by peace, fear replaced by bravery and sickness by health.

The author states that to prevent physical disease one needs to have proper diet for example don’t over eat or don’t become a cause of proper diet. During curing of physical disease the primary focus should be on mind as mind weakness is the key behind physical diseases and if mind is strong the healing process will be quick as well as effective.

While ‘Scientific Healing Affirmations” is a groundbreaking book, the fact is, it is not as “scientific” as the title claims. Much of the book is based in eastern religious philosophy, and that does take away from it’s value for those non-religious, and even many Christian readers. If you’d like a less fluffy introduction to scientific healing affirmations (the affirmation style and not the book), find a local hypnotist, or get a more scientific book on healing affirmations.
