Affirmations really work for a lot of people. I have heard countless stories, firsthand, of people manifesting income, lovers, children, lost items and events that are joyful beyond words. Others however, do a smash up job of sabotaging their affirmations efforts at every turn and end up with nothing they affirmed and usually being farther behind than when they started. Is it the fault of the affirmation? Are the gods out to get this person because of bad karma? Well, maybe but I doubt it. The answer is really much simpler than dirty karma or cheesed off affirmations elves – the answer is in the flow.

You see life has a flow and sometimes you are racing downstream with your goal clear in sight. Your fans are cheering you on from the shore – you can see your goal, you can smell it and sometimes even feel it between your fingertips. Other times you meander down a shallow creek sometimes running up on a dry creek bed or even getting caught in an overhanging tree. In the end the tree branch saves your life and you reach your goal. It’s later than planned – but you get where you want just the same. Both of these events are part of life. Affirmers sometimes interpret these life events incorrectly and get themselves in a big muddle and end up tossing a super result down the ‘life toilet’. Here is a great (and real) example:

Harry is focusing on manifesting a job that is closer to his creative gifting. He is a freelancer and for the last two years he has been doing projects that have been lucrative, but not exactly in line with his creative area. Harry has been aggressively affirming:

“I am now working with my creative talents and being paid handsomely for it”.

So far it seems to make sense. As well as his job affirmation, Harry has been affirming to attract some new friends and live in a warmer climate. One day an old contact calls up Harry and asks him to work with him on a new product for a few months. Harry will be paid well, however, it is not in line with Harry’s creative gifts. Harry is not busy with other projects but decides to not take the work because he wants to stay true to his affirmation:

“I am now working with my creative talents and being paid handsomely for it”.

Harry continues to work his affirmation for the next two months. That old contact runs into Harry in a local coffee shop and mentions he still needs help with is product launch and lets Harry know he can still come on board. Harry, frustrated at his lack of progress with manifesting his job goal, again, says he is not interested. Later that week Harry tosses his affirmation in the garbage and angrily curses that darn blog that claimed ‘affirmations really work’.

Whoops. Harry really blew it. Here is what was going on in the background while Harry was affirming and affirming for his creative talents to be used. Remember the client that called Harry and wanted help with that new product line? He was the bridge that would get Harry moved to a warmer climate within the next year. That new product line caught the eye of a wealthy angel investor that wanted the whole team to relocate to San Diego. That wealthy investor was to become Harry’s best friend. Three years later Harry’s best friend would invest in a creative idea that Harry dreamt about one warm San Diego night – That idea was the perfect match for Harry’s creative talents.

Ouch. Well cheer up, Harry will never know any of this. Harry will continue on and think affirmations don’t work and maybe reach his goal but it will be hard and it will probably take a long, long, long, long, time. Most likely Harry will spend a lot of time being discouraged, angry and unhappy.

Life is not a linear ruler that we can sit on and see from one side to the other. It twists, turns and wanders all about. Think about how you met your spouse, or a really good friend. Was it planned? Did you wake up one morning and say “Today I will meet a great person that I will spend the next 20 years with?” Likely not. Affirmations sometimes work the same way too. We affirm for a certain item to come to pass. We visualize. We meditate and we affirm some more. We are religious in our practice day in day out. Suddenly, one day, an opportunity presents itself for us to get involved in something, or we get invited to an event, or our car breaks down and a co-worker offers us a lift, or a neighbor offers to call us a plumber because our sink is plugged. We turn down the opportunity, we decline the invitation, we take a cab and we get out the plunger and start plunging. After all, these offers don’t line up with our affirmations.

Or do they?

Accepting the flow in life in one of the best gifts you can give yourself and the key to seeing results from your affirmations. Remember flow means ‘flow’. It takes no effort and it seems to appear from nowhere with you doing nothing to bring it to you. The next time you get an unexpected telephone call from someone you have not heard from in ten years, take notice. The next time you are offered something you were not expecting, think about it. And the next time you are affirming – be open to leaving the how’s of your affirmation up to those affirmation elves*. I think they know what they are doing.

*Affirmation elves do not exist, I think.

Dental Coverage Now Saves Big Money Later

Dental Coverage Now Saves Big Money Later

Simply put, if you don’t go to the dentist regularly now, you will later, and it will cost you thousands of dollars more.

Many families end up forking out over $8,000 for dental procedures and repairs in later years.

This is because they couldn’t afford regular, twice a year dental check-ups in the early years

of their marriages and families.

I have always known going to the dentist mattered more than whether I had dental coverage

or not. Yet if ever there was a person with a good excuse not go to the dentist regularly, it

was me.

At the age of 8, my dentist was having trouble freezing my mouth. After 45 minutes without

success, he drilled into my cheek.

Later that week, my mother sat me down and told me that this particular dentist had snapped,

killing his ex wife, her boyfriend and himself.

No kidding, I thought at the time. That memory still sends shivers down my back, even nearly

30 years later.

Yet despite this, I have always made myself go to the dentist. That has been particularly true

for the last 12 years as a parent of two girls.

Dental Associations recommend that you have a dental cleaning and check-up every six

months. Without dental coverage, regular dental visits will cost about $100 to $140 a year

for two visits. Brushing is vital, as is flossing. Children are supposed to floss daily.

Earlier on, I waited too long to go to the dentist about two problem teeth. By the time they

were looked at, I was facing a $1,000 bill for root canals if I wanted them saved. There was

no way I could afford that, so I had the teeth pulled.

For that same amount of money, $100 per month, I could have provided my family nine years

of dental coverage.

Dental coverage options today include dental insurance, offered as part of company benefits

packages through employers.

For many, many people though, this is not an available option due to growing unemployment, downsizing, or reduced company benefits.

As a result, people have started looking online to explore their dental benefit options.

The most popular question being asked is what is the difference between Dental Insurance

and Discount Dental Plans.

Dental insurance is utilized by large groups and businesses to cover their employee’s dental

care. Monthly premiums are paid for defined coverage. Premiums for dental insurance may be

as much as $30 per month for individuals and over $100 per month for family plans.

Dental insurance is not readily accessible to individuals and families. There are annual spending maximums, deductibles, waiting periods for certain procedures, and limitations and exclusions

on care. Dental coverage will include the cost of preventive services (such as cleanings and

exams) at 100% after deductibles are met.

For millions of North Americans, discount dental plans are an ideal form of dental coverage

when benefits are not available through their work. The plans are designed to provide

consumers access to dental networks at reduced rates.

The big plus is the plans are affordable to join and are the most widely available dental programs

for individuals and families.

The plans work differently than insurance but offer real and substantive cost savings on

dental procedures. Dental coverage includes secured discounts on most dental services, such

as dental exams, routine cleanings, fillings, extractions, root canals, dentures, crowns, and

braces.

Most discount dental plans provide a fee schedule with the discounted fees listed out in the

membership materials.

In some cases, dental insurance and discount dental plans can be used together in certain

situations to maximize savings.

For years, my wife and I used dental plans. In recent years, we now both have dental

insurance through our employers.

While the type and level of our dental coverage has varied through the years, we have always

made ongoing dental health a priority.

The affirmations a person uses depend on many factors. What is the person trying to accomplish? Where is he or she now in relation to that goal or dream? What is their belief factor? Is he or she aspiring to something big or just looking for incremental improvement?

One of the biggest knocks critics have against affirmations is that they encourage unrealistic thinking.

It is ridiculous, they say, to encourage a sixth grader who can barely play “Hot Crossed Buns” on the saxophone to use an affirmation like, “I am a world-class saxophone player”. That’s just delusional, they argue, to have a child believing something so out of touch with reality.

I absolutely agree!

“What,” you say, “I thought you were in the business of promoting affirmations and encouraging others to follow their dreams?” I am. And, I still agree with those critics. Oh, I believe emphatically that affirmations are for everyone, but I do not believe every affirmation is for every person.

Yes. The critics are correct. This affirmation is completely unrealistic for any sixth grader who believes it is unrealistic.

They are also correct that a smart sixth grader is probably going to doubt the affirmation at some point. Sooner or later the sixth grader using this affirmation may have the thought, “I can’t even play ‘Hot Crossed Buns’. I’m not a world class saxophone player.”

These two pieces of information do not match up. The sixth grader, like most human beings, will search for a way to make the ideas congruent. When this happens it is decision time for the sixth grader and his or her dream of being a world-class saxophonist. Whether they know it or not the critics are citing and the sixth grader is experiencing a well-known psychological phenomenon called cognitive dissonance.

This theory states that when we hold two incongruent pieces of knowledge in our minds there is a very strong psychological impulse to bring the two conflicting thoughts into agreement. The idea being that our sixth grader cannot hold the thought, “I can’t even play ‘Hot Crossed Buns’,” in his or her mind while at the same time holding the idea, “I am a world class saxophone player.”

The classic example is the mother on the news who cannot reconcile the baby she brought into the world with the possibility that he may have committed a crime. So, she believes in his innocence even against overwhelming evidence.

Now, here is where the critics’ logic fails. They assume, I suppose, that the only option for this newly self-aware sixth grader is to stop using this unrealistic affirmation and stop pursuing such lofty and unrealistic dreams. Basically, “Give it up, kid, there’s no chance.”

The cognitive dissonance theorists tell us that there are actually three options (besides “getting real”) open to resolve this dilemma.

Change beliefs – the sixth grader can change one or both beliefs to be more in line. “I know I’m not a world-class saxophonist right now, but I can be someday.” He or she admits the first fact and changes the condition for the second to bring them into congruence.

Adding beliefs – the sixth grader can think, “It’s true I cannot play “Hot Crossed Buns”. It’s true that I’m not a world-class sax player right now.” “It’s also true that Charlie Parker was not a world-class saxophone player in the sixth grade and look what he accomplished.”

Alter the importance of the beliefs – the sixth grader can think, “It doesn’t matter that I can’t play “Hot Crossed Buns” right now. I will be able to some day. I still have it in me to be a world-class saxophone player.” He or she chooses to diminish the importance of the current state and focus, instead, on the future possibility.

Part of the confusion, candidly, comes from affirmation gurus who promote the idea that your affirmations must be adhered to with unshakable belief to make a difference. Doubting – the cardinal sin of affirmationdom – must never be allowed to rise or else the magic potion will be spoiled.

People are people. Some days we believe in our dreams fervently and other days we completely lose sight of them. That’s not being negative that’s just being human. The path is not lost by one moment of doubt.

This affirmation may or may not be appropriate for the sixth grader in question. It depends on how he or she resolves the cognitive dissonance associated with it. If he or she cannot come to terms with the disparity, then an affirmation like “I am becoming a world class saxophone player” or “I am a better saxophone player every day” may be more acceptable and reduce the cognitive dissonance.

Conversely, the previous affirmation is ideal for a college student majoring in music performance on the saxophone. That person has already put in many years and is now an expert on the instrument. He or she may be planning a career playing the saxophone. That college student certainly can realistically aspire to becoming a world-class sax player.

Here is what I have learned from more than 17 years experience working with affirmations. There really are two classes of affirmations – aspirational and incremental.

Aspirational affirmations are your “big thinking” affirmations. They are the ones that remind you that something far greater than right now lies within you. That knowing is not for anyone to label as delusional or unrealistic. It depends on you and your belief. Incremental affirmations are affirmations that are more finely tuned. They focus on specifics and immediate steps. They are the trees to the aspirational affirmations’ forest.

In my view, they are both part of a healthy affirmation diet. Just like protein and calcium serve two different but beneficial roles in the body. Both kinds of affirmations add value to your over all growth. One is today’s weather forecast and the other is the long range forecast.

Let me illustrate the difference with a couple examples.

A high school quarterback with big dreams might use both of the following affirmations:

Aspirational: “I am the next John Elway.”

Incremental: “My completion percentage is improving each and every game.”

A person trying to climb out of depression might use both of the following affirmations:

Aspirational: “I am completely happy with all aspects of my life.”

Incremental: “Today I am putting one foot in front of the other and moving forward.”

A person focusing on creating a better financial future might use both of the following affirmations:

Aspirational: “My million dollar idea is on its way to me right now.”

Incremental: “Today I am paying my bills on time.”

It’s not about being unrealistic. It’s about using the very real power of your thoughts to support your immediate goals and your long term dreams.

So, if you are a sixth grade saxophone player with a passion to be the world’s greatest saxophonist, I say go for it! One thing is for sure. None of your critics will be there to beat you out!

Affirmations are positive statements that inspire and motivate people to take active steps to enhance professional and recreational performance, strive to achieve goals, face challenges, modify or reinforce behavior, and improve the general quality of life. They are thought vitamins that fortify your mind the same way vitamins fortify your body.

Positive Affirmations, how do they work? What changes can I expect?

Affirmations are one of the tools you can use to radically change your life. There is nothing new age, mystic, trendy or fashionable about them. Affirmation is part of an ancient ‘ Secret’, re-discovered and brought back to the limelight by TV. film and press, transforming with it several people into very wealthy gurus.

Affirmations have been around since man found the use of language and there is no secret ritual to use them.

You can basically have anything you want! This tool, if used correctly, will help you change, grow, and heal yourself.

I want to introduce you to the basics of positive affirmation and positive thinking. Later on you may want to surf the web and find out more about this fascinating subject.

When you start the affirmations, give yourself at least a thirty day tryout period. Depending on the seriousness of the problem you may need more time and more affirmations to achieve your goals. Talk to your family and friends about your resolution to change and ask them for their support. If it is a radical change you are envisioning a life-coach will be very useful suggesting the best approach to use and to keep you motivated. This is a big step. Opening up to relatives and friends show your commitment to change and solidify your intentions.

Don’t get discouraged, impatient or put off if nothing happens in a week or two. Just remember that you didn’t become this way overnight.

Affirmations can and will transform your life patterns and perception.

Affirmations support your positive thinking and together they form a very powerful and effective tool. They function as ‘key words’ of positive messages ‘dictated’ directly to the self. You consciously connect and direct your positive thinking to areas of your life that you want to change or heal. It works as a reminder to the self, keeping positive messages at the forefront of consciousness.

The benefits of affirmations are medically well established and really work.

On the other hand negative thoughts are just as powerful. So be aware of your negative thoughts as they are in essence self-destructive ‘key words:’ psychological mechanisms that make your life rotten.

First,  let’s check how aware you are of your thoughts.

Do you regularly have more positive or more negative thoughts running through you mind?

Only you can honestly answer that. So get ready.

If your subconscious is throwing out lots of negative thoughts then you must do some ‘brain-cleaning’ before moving into the desired new positive affirmation mode.

This may be very familiar to you, as your mind swirls with thoughts like: “I don’t like this, I like that, I feel great,  I hate him/her, I am afraid of, I don’t want them to see me like this, I am not sure about that, I feel rotten”.

Your mind incessantly interprets your experiences as an internal dialogue. These thoughts are generated on a deep level by your beliefs which were formed and accumulated from the time you were born.

We can’t control most exterior events of our lives but we do control how we interpret and react to them.

We create our own reality.

When we change our interpretation a change takes place in our reality.

So become aware of your thoughts. If you change your thinking, big changes will happen in your life.

Take a minute to think about why you are reacting to something or someone.

Get in touch with yourself. Accept the fact that these thoughts may have helped you in the past but they are out of place now that you have chosen to accept only positive thoughts and positive living.

While doing the new affirmations your mind will let go of the negative messages even if you are not aware if it.

Watch out also for resistance within yourself. With certain affirmations you may question, “What in the heck” – “are you kidding?”

It is ok, it is an old habit that is about to be changed. You grew up and had these thoughts for almost all of your life. Now it is time to form a new habit and you need lots of practice.

Let’s get started.

What would you like your life to be?

Think about it and write it down.

Fulfillment with your job, a happy family, better health, financial security?

Don’t hold back, go for it.

For the beginners the easiest way is to choose and write down two or three things you want changed.

For example, if you feel unloved and financially strapped, one of your affirmations could be: ” I am now ready to receive more love and wealth” and you may add  ”from the vast supply of the universe”.

If you also wrote down ‘low self-esteem’  the affirmation could be: “I am an awesome man/woman and I feel good about myself”.

Be creative, upfront and fearless. You are making a statement to yourself of your intentions.

Here are a few simple guidelines:

1- Present tense. Start all your affirmations in the present tense and have them already accomplished. You are telling your conscious mind that the affirmative action is taking place NOW and it is final. I AM HAPPY,  I CHOOSE JOY,  I HAVE CONFIDENCE. It is stronger and much more powerful than, I will be happy, or I am becoming happy, and so on.

2- How to phrase your affirmations. You can copy from an extensive list you’ll find on the Internet, use the examples below or simply write it down in your own words. Do it as plainly or as poetically as you speak. ” I am energetic and full of enthusiasm. I am safe, I am a prosperous man/woman. I attract positive people, I release my anger.” Make copies of it and leave it around the house, car and your office desk. The more you are reminded of the positive affirmations the more your mind will accept the new concept you are bringing forth. You will create a new positive reality and the universal energy will do the rest to connect this good energy to other positive energies.

3- Positive means Positive. Your subconscious usually focuses on the verb and relates it to past experiences. If you have fears, phobias or whatever, be careful with your choice of words. If you are afraid and say I am not SCARED, it will register I AM SCARED. The NOT was assimilated and ignored by your mind. Say instead I AM COURAGEOUS or I AM FEARLESS. Don’t use affirmations that have a negative attachment. You can comfortably use I ACCEPT, I CHOOSE, I DESERVE, I AM.  I developed one affirmation to counteract the negative thought that eventually peeks through, so I suggest you add it to the batch,  ”I ACCEPT ONLY THE GOOD AND THE POSITIVE.”

Starting as you wake up, say the affirmations out loud or in your head five times. Repeat the same process three to four more times during the day, the last one just before going to bed.

I suggest you end the affirmation session with a thank you  note. Gratitude will reinforce and validate the affirmations. Thank God, Jesus, a Spirit, the Force, the Universe or whatever you believe and feel comfortable with.

Visualize your affirmations with feelings and emotion. See yourself exactly as you are stating.  It will add an extra psychological dimension and have a much deeper impact on your mind. Using this method of visualization early in the morning and at night will make your affirmations much more successful.

You can use affirmations to help build self-confidence, self-esteem, self-improvement and personal growth. It can also help conquer your fears and anger management. Affirmations have been successfully used to relieve anxiety and depression and are an excellent tool for weight control.

If you check the web under Positive Affirmations you’ll find a multitude of books and affirmations to help you.

An affirmation is a thought or any judgment we pass. Affirmations directly influences our sub consciousness which then directs it into a certain direction either leading to a positive or negative change in our lives. Affirmations can be related to anything such as weight loss, self-esteem, love or even helps discover artistic talents. Using the power of artist’s affirmations can help you discover your artistic and expressive side, which can help you not only in the realm of art, poetry, and the like, but also in relationships and in business.

Artist’s affirmations are different from ordinary person’s affirmation but you first need to figure out your creative self and what you are good at. Try to bring out your artist self by creating some artist affirmations such as ‘I am very creative’ or ‘I was born out of creativity’. Some are good at dancing, painting, acting and many more. The basic artist affirmation is to feel like an artist and pour out the emotions inside you. Feel the emotions and try putting those emotions in your work. When an artist has any affirmation, they actually love and respect their own thoughts and try their best to turn their thoughts into reality. Generic artist’s affirmations will work for some people, but for others, you need to be more specific when creating your artist affirmations.

To become a successful artist, an artist should get rid of any negative affirmations such as having a feeling of failure. The best way to get rid of negative affirmations for artists is to paint out their negative thoughts and then probably later destroy those paintings feeling that by destroying those paintings all the negative thoughts are destroyed along with the painting.

Secondly feel the energy of success with every affirmation you make. Successful artists always affirm that they is worthy of success. To become a successful artist, affirm on a daily basis to be more successful. This will help bring out true and successful artist in you. Also create works of art which express success, happiness, life full of energy and anything positive. An artist keeps these works to inspire him all the time. A successful artist not only affirms but also visualizes his affirmations. It is also important that very carefully artist hears his affirmations. Thus, make it a point to repeat your affirmations out loud to yourself, because this will enhance the experience.

Artist affirmations can be as generic or as specific as you’d like, however, in general, artistic affirmations should be general. Depending on your regular everyday speech patterns, creating an artist’s affirmation that states “I am creative when I paint” could be potentially harmful. This affirmation sounds exclusive, and as you come to believe in this artist’s affirmation, you may begin to believe that you are only creative when you paint. Thus, ‘I am a creative person’ would be better.

Many examples of artist affirmations are listed below and if practiced these artist affirmations regularly you will not only discover your creative self but also become a successful artist.

‘As I create and listen, I will be led’

‘Creativity is the creator’s will for me’

‘I am truly a gifted artist’

‘Through the use of a few simple tools, my creativity will flourish’

‘My creativity always leads me to success’

‘I am willing to create’

‘I am willing to learn to let myself create’

Probably every affirmation coach in the world will tell you something different about the specifics of affirmations so I might as well weigh in as well. To be specific or not specific – that is the question. But what is the answer?

I started out doing affirmations before I had ever heard of them or was given an explanation of the method of affirmations. I had read some self improvement books, identified some areas of my life I wanted to change and thought the way to see change would be to focus on statement that represented my preferred future. Viola, my new life partner was born – affirmations. Seven years later I am still affirming and telling everyone who asks (as well as some who don’t) all about the power of affirmations. It was only about five years ago that I ever heard that these positive statements were called affirmations.

When I started with my ‘positive statements’ I used very specific affirmations. My results were pretty good however some of my affirmations went nowhere. Now I realize I my specifics got me in trouble and limited my results. I also noticed the results I did achieve always seemed to match my specifics – they were never higher or grander.

Now I use very broad and general affirmations and focus more on the ‘essence’ of what I am focusing on. This allows me to really hone in on the ‘feeling’ and ‘experience’ I am seeking while leaving the ‘mechanics’ of how the affirmation will come to pass up to The Universe. Using this approach opens up my results to achieving the feeling I want without sticking to a specific way of getting it.

Are you focusing on buying a new home? Well you could affirm:

“I am buying a new home, and it is easy and fun.”

Is this really your end goal? Or is your goal to be living in a great home and in your mind the only way to have this is to buy a new home… See where I am going? What if The Universe had a really great plan that would allow you to live in a fabulous place but it did not include you buying anything. What if the best solution for you was to inherit a home that you would love forever?

If you focus is on buying a home that is what you will manifest. You will likely find it easy and fun, since that was included in your affirmation however you will never know or experience the joy of getting a home without buying it. You also might be paying for that new home for the next 30 years. Regardless of whether you hold a mortgage you still had to do something to pay for that new house. By using a specific affirmation you may have made your life a lot more difficult than necessary.

How about affirming:

“I am living in a home I love, and it was fun and easy to get it.”

Here is a simple way to broaden your affirmation to reflect the root or essence of what you want to experience with an example involving money.

Identify the issue you want to change: I want more money

Ask yourself: Why do you want more money?

-Do you want to be more secure?

-Do you want to buy something?

-Do you want to make more investments?

-Do you think getting money will make you happy?

-Do you want to pay off debt?

Find out what you want to feel/experience because you will have more money. It could be relief, safety, peace, or a whole bunch of other emotions. Once you think you know the emotion and/or experience you are looking for affirm for that.

Here are some examples:

Money related:

Affirmation: “I am attracting $50K into my life”

Scenario: This guy wants to buy a certain list of objects and he thinks it will cost 50K.

Becomes…

“I am purchasing everything my heart desires and it is easy, fun and a joy to spend this money.”

Love related:

Affirmation: “I am attracting a life partner that will be with me until death do us part.”

Scenario: This gal wants a healthy permanent relationship.

Becomes…

“I am in a healthy, long term relationship that leaves us both satisfied and yearning for more.”

Health related:

Affirmation: “I am jogging five miles a day, in the early morning, and feeling a great.”

Scenario: This fellow wants to increase the amount he exercises.

Becomes:

“My body and I are in tune and healthy, I exercise until I am satisfied.”

Being a little less specific in your affirmation leaves rooms for your results to be grander as well as the method of achieving your affirmation a bit of a mystery.

Remember the person who wanted the 50K? What if the best solution was for him to get 500K and he was able to buy all the things he every wanted now and in the future? Too bad if he affirmed for the 50K I guess he will get his list of things and then his money will run out.

Remember the person who wanted a long term relationship? She actually was to have four of them in her remaining life, all very different and full of adventure and lots of happiness (and each relationship was to end well too). Too bad if she affirmed for the life partner that had to be there until they both died…he never showed up.

Remember the health nut? He was to discover that he really loved yoga a lot more than running and his future wife was that cute yoga instructor that taught the class before his. Too bad if he stuck with his jogging affirmation…he would be forever be buying jogging shoes and thinking this exercise thing ‘sucked’.

The more specific your affirmations the less room there is for the grandest version of the affirmation to come to pass. Focusing on the essence of what you want to experience wins out every time and leaves the figuring out part up to The Universe.

Do you have any affirmations you want to change?

There are two types of affirmations. Each type has two parts that make up the whole of it. Without acting upon this truth, our affirmation work becomes something other than effective. Let’s look at this. Affirmations are effective when they are repeated. Customarily, that repeating would look like us, finding a favorite affirmation, such as “My life now flows with money” and then repeating these words over and over, with the intention that more money manifests for us. Affirmations are associated with courses, classes, and conferences. They are used worldwide, and it is the practice of them that is effective. Yet whether we are aware of this or not, we are always practicing affirmations, twenty-four seven, either deliberately or by default. If we practice type one, the pre-programmed default type, then we get negative results. If we practice type two, through our deliberate practice, then we expect to get the results we expect to get from the particular affirmation we are practicing. We expect to have those results, even when at times we can’t figure out why our manifestations haven’t arrived yet. Here’s why!

Type one is an affirmation whose guidance for our energy is negative in nature. For instance, to say to ourselves, “I can’t do that” would be negative because its guidance leads us to not accomplishing what we set out to do. But it’s not only in the words that we are guided. We are also guided by how we feel when this affirmation comes up for us. We feel resigned, and it is that resignation, combined with the words that flow from that feeling called “I can’t” that makes this particular affirmation so effective. What it is affirming is that you are in that moment, creating the feeling of resignation, which then propels out the necessary words called “I can’t” which inform you of how you are feeling. Hence, this affirmation which affirms what you are creating, has two parts. One feels, and the other, thinks.

Because feelings come without words, this first part of any affirmation can be a subtle way that we trip ourselves up. If we don’t address this first part before we do any and all of our by choice affirmation work, then that work will not be effective. We will affirm, and then get frustrated over why what we told ourselves we wanted, just isn’t coming yet. Think about it. If feelings of resignation are the real source of “I can’t” then no matter what new words replace the old ones, that feeling still is there, and what you are doing is still feeling it, even though your words tell you otherwise! Now in doing so, you are caught up in trying to live a lie, that of telling yourself that you can, while feeling resignation, or that you cannot! How many times have you told yourself you are rich, when in truth you were not? How did this feel? Like you were lying to yourself? Well, you were! But take heart, there is an effective way to do our affirmation work that gets us through this very human dilemma. And it’s one that every single one of us, bar none, have to get through in order to be more and more effective with our affirmations.

How then, in the example provided, do we feel rich, when we are not? That’s easy, tell the truth! Truth aligns our energy, and lies disperse it. We want to do this because aligned energy all goes in the direction you desire it to go in, and dispersed energy just goes everywhere. The affirmed truth I had to tell myself about being rich, since it was my desire to become rich, wasn’t the lie that I already was rich. What I had to come up with was the truth, that “in every moment I am becoming richer and richer.” All the while knowing that my becoming was adding up to then being rich. In this way, if I found even a penny on the ground, this truth was affirmed. Because which part of a few million dollars is a penny not? Through this affirmation I was telling the truth now, and then teaching myself to tell the truth later. All aligned energy! My energy was the most effective as it was directed by my affirmation work, because it wasn’t being used to suppress feelings, or to fight a lie. All my energy was being used to “become richer and richer” in each moment.

What telling myself the truth did, was to have me feel good about myself and what I was doing, and that’s the important part of affirmation work. This is the first and most important part of the two parts of affirmations, that of having how you feel be aligned with the words you choose. In every case, there is some positive way you feel about what you desire to have, because you wouldn’t desire to have something if you didn’t feel good about it! For instance, with regard to relationships, you can say to yourself that you just “Love being in love” because you do! The fact that thinking about loving being in love feels good, will then attract that love to you. You don’t say “I am with my love” when you are not. That would be using your energy in misalignment. Alignment is the first part of feeling good about your affirming words, and then there are the words themselves, two parts, twice as effective.

In the case of positive affirmations, you have to find those words that make you feel good, because they are the truth. Because no matter what the words are, if you still feel the same as you always felt, resigned, or upset, or angry, then all the words in the world won’t shift your energy one bit. Angry feelings produce angry results, and angry money is always lost to those who manage to create it in this way. And people do. They create a lot of money through being motivated by either anger or fear, and then they promptly lose it. They lose it by either actually losing it, or by being so guided by anger that they never really enjoy what they have, and so are completely blind to their abundance. They feel poor, even though they are rich! And that feeling poor is a lie as well. I have worked with billionaires who were some of the poorest people in their minds that I have ever known. No amount of money will cure this kind of resignation, if the feelings behind your actions are not shifted. What shifts them? To begin to tell the truth, and then to continue to tell the truth.

Truth is, most of us desire to have more money. We like the freedom of choice that money gives to us. Or more love. We like the way being loved, and being in love feels. Or most of us desire more____________you fill in the blank! More seems to be our hard wired request, and it’s through affirmations that we feel we can have that more, in whatever form we desire our good to come in. We can have that more, and we can have it through the direction our energy is guided in by our affirmation work. But we can only do this if we pay attention to both parts of that work, the words and the feelings we are creating. Once we do that, then hold onto your hat, because the flow of good that comes our way will be so overwhelming, that there will be times when we have to deliberately slow it down just so that we can enjoy it as it comes. Now that’s affirmation work I can live with!

The dictionary description is:

af-fir-ma-tion [af-er-mey-shun]

1. The act or an instance of affirming; state of being affirmed.

2. the assertion that something exists or is true.

3. something that is affirmed; a statement or proposition that is declared to be true.

4. confirmation or ratification of the truth or validity of a prior judgment, decision, etc.

Thoughts repeated regularly and systematically sink into the subconscious mind and become habitual. Affirmations as these are called are used by many children and adults to create lasting changes in their lives. Finding the right affirmations to use is much more effective if it is in your own words and way of thinking. It is important that your affirmations are written in your own words since the subconscious will react better to your own thoughts than to the thoughts of someone else. It is easy to understand that you probably would not trust anyone more than you trust yourself. Start by taking notice of what you want to change in yourself. Write down on paper your thoughts, desires, and feelings that you may wish to improve upon.

How to use affirmations

When wording your affirmation, you need to use words and phrases for your affirmations in a positive manner rather than a negative manner. As an example, if you wanted to quit smoking, you would not want an affirmation such as “Cigarette smoking makes me sick” because you will in turn cause yourself to get sick. It is better to phrase affirmations like “I am a non-smoker” or “I am healthy and dislike the smell and taste of cigarette smoke” thereby instructing your subconscious to see a different you. When your subconscious sees yourself different, you will become different. Whatever the subconscious mind believes, the conscious mind becomes.

It is important to choose your words wisely. You do not want to use phrases like “I want” because no change will take place since your subconscious is already there. In other words, affirmations worded with “I want” simply are a statement of what “you want”, this only affirms that you will always want whichever it is your affirmations are presenting. You must see yourself as a different you by visualizing what it is you would like to accomplish. Use words like “I am” or “I have”, this allows your subconscious to visualize and believe you are already what you wish to become instead of what you want to become.

Positive affirmations can enhance any area of your life, from improving health, skills, success, relationships and more to conquering bad habits like unhealthy eating habits, aggressive tempers and attitudes, biting nails, bed wetting, drug addictions, or lack of attention and motivation. There are many resources available to help those who find creating affirmations to be difficult. Affirmations can be found on the Internet or in books. Remember to try and use any outside suggestions only as an example and maybe rephrase it in your own words. Thoughts and phrases should come from words within your terms of speaking. If you wish to improve your health, you can find hundreds of examples on the Internet that reflect healthy aspects. Though if for instance you were to find some health affirmations worded in a manner that you would not typically speak, you need to re-write that affirmation into your own words so that you comprehend what your affirmation means. Your subconscious will work faster with affirmations spoken in your terms of speaking faster than that of someone else’s if you do not fully understand it. An example of this could be the legal terminology that most attorneys use, most of us can read it and somewhat understand it, but the lawyers are the ones that can pick it apart and know exactly what it is exclaiming to in ways we probably never imagined. If your mind does not fully comprehend the meaning of the affirmations you are feeding it, your process will not take effect as fast.

How long before you see results

It can take approximately 20 days to create a lasting change but can start taking affect on your behavior a lot sooner where you can notice yourself actually beginning to change in the way you have expressed through your affirmations. It does matter how you use the affirmations too, if you only use your affirmations during the day instead at night like suggested, it may take longer to take affect. Using a recorder or an affirmation unit such as the Mindmaster at night can allow you to create the change subconsciously without the common distractions one normally endures during the day with normal everyday life. Whether it is distractions with traffic, kids, work, cellphones, animals, you name it, they take away from the effectiveness of repeating your affirmations. You could also possibly take time out of your day to go somewhere that is maybe free of these distractions, but that is sometimes a luxury that many of us don’t have. It also takes away from getting other things done too. However, when you are sleeping you have no distractions and the subconscious mind receives everything you tell it. Since your subconscious never sleeps, it is even more receptive to receiving and retaining messages because any doubt and disbelief, which are conscious barriers, are dissolved while you are sleeping, allowing your subconscious image to be changed more effectively.

Affirmations and children

Affirmations though not as widely used as they are for adults can be used with children to help them overcome obstacles that they face with growing up. Fears of the dark, fears of the potty, eating habits, aggressive behaviors, controlling emotions, improving skills and confidence. There are many uses just like with adults that can help your child as well. They should be able to utilize all available tolls that they can when growing up, this shapes them into who they will become later in life. Using affirmations with a child can be a bit different from the way we may use them as adults. Adults have the ability to remember they need to repeat their affirmations where kids usually lack the ability to remember the simplest things they were just told to do. This is where targeting the subconscious mind works best. Much like how adults use recorders, there is a product on the market that is designed for children to repeat their affirmation back to them at night while they sleep on a timed program so it is not in a continuous loop. It has been proven to work successfully with speaking toddlers guided by their parents directive. If you are having problems with potty training for instance, children have stopped wetting the bed in as little as a week, for good and all on their own. This not only helps give the child a sense of accomplishment but also self confidence and belief that they can achieve their goals.

Horse Health Care – Do You Want to Spend the Money Now Or Later?

Horse Health Care – Do You Want to Spend the Money Now Or Later?

If there is one thing I have learned about horse health care during my career as an equine veterinarian, it is this: You can pay for horse health care now… or you can pay for it later. In short, caring for any single horse requires a certain sum of money, and that money can be spent up front, when the horse is relatively young and healthy, or later on, when the horse is old or ill.

While it seems counterintuitive to spend money on horse health care above the usual regimen of horse feed, worming, and hoof care, it is nevertheless money well spent, even on a horse who looks perfectly healthy. I’m talking about money spent on items like feed supplements, dental floats, and regular bodywork. Why should you spend money on these items? Because even a horse who looks good on the outside may have a compromised immune system on the inside, invisible to the eye.

Horse Health Care: The Immune System as a Bank Account

A horse’s immune system can be compared to a bank account, with deposits and withdrawals. The larger your horse’s immune system bank account, the healthier he will be, both now and in the long term. Certain factors affect your horse’s immune system. In the beginning, genetics play a big role. Your horse is either born with a strong constitution, which equals a large bank account, or a weak one, which means a small account.

Later in life, other factors affect your horse’s immune system bank balance. For instance, the physical and emotional stress of a hard training regimen can deplete a large chunk from that bank account. Poor nutrition, over time, can also chip away your horse’s immune system. Physical or emotional burnout can completely drain the account, so that horses end up with chronic conditions like laminitis and Cushing’s.

Factors that contribute positively to your horse’s immune system bank account include:

- solid nutrition through supplementation and individualized feeding

- regular bodywork

- regular physical checkups and dental floats

- avoiding excessive vaccination

- matching your horse with a career that suits his personality type (learn more about personality types on the Horse Harmony website

The bottom line is this: for your horse to thrive and do the “job” you want him to, he needs to have a strong immune system, which means he has to have a rich bank account.

Strengthening Your Horse’s Immune System

The whole “immune system as a bank account” analogy brings us back to the original point that it takes a certain amount of money to care for a horse during his lifetime. The question becomes whether you want to spend that money by making small regular deposits to his immune system bank account or whether you want to spend that money later on, when his immune system is depleted and he is no longer healthy.

The answer, of course, is pretty obvious: it would be better to spend a little money weekly or monthly keeping your horse healthy and happy than to make a balloon payment to the vet when your horse is ill.

But as obvious as the answer may seem, many horse owners are reluctant to spend even a little more money on their horse’s health on a monthly basis. For one, the current economy has everyone tightening their wallets. For another, many horse owners take the ostrich approach, and simply hope that their horses won’t suffer any serious illnesses. And lastly, many horse owners simply sell or find other homes for horses who become unusable because of a compromised immune system.

But do you really want to do that, especially if you have already put a lot of time and money into the horse? I wouldn’t, especially since paying into your horse’s immune system bank account can be both simple and not very expensive.

The Basics of Maintaining Your Horse’s Immune System

Every horse is an individual, so no single recipe of supplements will keep every horse healthy. However, the basic foundations for maintaining your horse’s immune system are simple. Assuming that your horse is currently healthy, in addition to ensuring that your horse gets enough calories and long-stem forage (like hay and alfalfa) to keep him at an ideal weight, you also need to provide:

- additional sources of vitamins, minerals, and trace minerals

- enzymes and probiotics to enhance digestion and prevent ulcers and other digestive issues

- antioxidants to help his body ward off infections and other pre-cursors of chronic infections

All of these things boost your horse’s immune system, and they all come in a couple simple forms that are easy to feed. You can give all of the above supplements using two products:

Simplexity Health Essentials: These daily packets include blue-green algae, probiotics (acidophilus and bifidus), and enzymes

XanGo Mangosteen Juice: One ounce of this juice fed daily supports your horse’s immune system, as well as reducing inflammation

That sounds pretty simple, right? Dump a single packet of Essentials and pour one ounce of mangosteen juice on your horse’s feed once a day. The cost?

About $87 per month per horse

Now that may sound like a lot, especially if you have more than one horse, but think about it this way: $87 is relatively little compared to a visit from your vet, which can anywhere from $250-$500, and that’s without complications. Even if you fed half that amount, your horse would reap huge benefits in terms of his immune system.

A Couple of Examples for Skeptics

Still not sure? I don’t blame you, so here are a couple of examples that might convince you. One gelding I treated regularly had been on the Essentials as a regular part of his diet. When the economy got tight, his owner pulled him off the Essentials and fed him just a regular diet of hay and grain. Within a few months, he developed a crack in his hoof. When the owner inquired about how his hoof should be treated, I suggested he be put back on the Essentials. Within a short period of time, not only were his hooves back in good shape, but his hair coat and general immunity had improved as well.

Another mare I treated was on the Essentials and mangosteen juice. When her owner went out of town for a month, the mare was fed only hay and grain. She immediately reverted to her old pattern of coughing when eating hay. When her owner returned and started her back on the combination of Essentials and mangosteen juice, the symptoms disappeared.

While the symptoms in these cases were not life-threatening to the horses, they were signals that the horse’s immune systems were compromised. Had these owners continued to feed just hay and grain, the hoof crack could have deteriorated into chronic hoof weaknesses, and the cough could have developed into a full-blown case of COPD. In other words, minor horse health issues could have evolved into chronic conditions that would have eventually rendered these horses unridable.

So the question remains:

Do you want to make regular deposits to your horse’s immune system bank account now, or try to shore up his immune system when it is already bankrupt?

It’s the same amount of money, but the first option contains a lot less suffering for both you and your horse than the second option! At the end of the day, the first option is like health insurance for your horse while the second option is more likely to end up in hospitalization. Me? I’ll take health insurance any day for my horses.

What about you?

My Favorite Anxiety Ending Affirmation:

I am so happy and grateful now that I am living an anxiety and panic free life and am radiating with confidence!

How to Use Power Affirmations

Anxiety Help

What is the most effective way to use Power Affirmations? Here are a few suggestions.

Pick one or two affirmations and begin using them immediately. Do not wait until you create the perfect affirmations for your specific situation before you start using them. The future is now. Procrastination is the killer of success. Immediate action creates momentum. Repetition of positive thought sustains it. Do not base your choice by whether or not you already believe the affirmation or if the belief seems possible to you at this time. Repeating the power affirmations with emotional intensity and a feeling of certainty will eventually install the beliefs in your subconscious mind. At the very least, pick a generic affirmation like Every day in every way I am getting better and better. Then you can always choose or create other power affirmations later after you set specific goals. Resolve right now to start using affirmations within the next 60 minutes.

Write the power affirmation at least 10-20 times per day. For best results, write it down 10-20 times as soon as you arise and 10-20 times before you go to bed. This allows you to set your direction before the day starts and plant the seed in your subconscious mind before you go to sleep. If you do this consistently, you will naturally find this thought re-occurring in your mind several times per day. You will begin to notice the power affirmations shaping your other thoughts through the course of the day. As the power affirmations create more and more similar thoughts, you will create a direction and build momentum towards the desired results.

After you write the affirmation 10-20 times, repeat it aloud in front of a mirror 5-10 times. Anxiety Help is a process so repeating the affirmations aloud further installs the beliefs into your subconscious mind. It is very important to repeatedly both write and audibly state your affirmations for maximum effectiveness.

As you write and audibly repeat them, feel the emotional power of the affirmations in your body. Visualize yourself as having already created this result in your life. Feel the way you would feel if you already had this result in your life. Hear the things you will hear when this affirmation becomes an everyday reality. Breathe the way you would breathe if this affirmation were already true. Move your body as if this were already a conditioned belief.

Now let your positive thoughts of power and certainty guide your actions. Live consciously. Take complete control of your own mind rather than passively allowing the influences in the media control it for you.

Does this type of conditioning take time and effort? Absolute , on a daily basis. There is no something for nothing. This is where most people fail. They do not follow through with these steps every day for a long period of time. They get inspired for a few days after hearing a motivational speaker or after reading a book. Then, after the motivational high wears off, they fall back into their old habits. Or they get so busy that this is an easy item to ignore.

Event training through short seminars, is necessary and great. But Process Training, training that guides your every day habits, is the real key to sustained results. Process Training is achieved through sustained exposure to the learning material over a prolonged period of time. And it requires constant review and correction until the skill is installed as a subconscious habit (like how you learn to drive a car). Most people who think they can get all the information they need by attending a couple of seminars or listening to a best selling program one time will usually be disappointed. The information just goes by too fast to allow it to really soak in.

Why do you think we see the same commercials over and over again? Or hear the same slogan? It is because that advertisers know if they can get our attention for 30 seconds (or less), to watch the same commercial multiple times over a period of days, weeks, months, years, they know they can sell us billions of dollars of merchandise. Is it not time that you used the exact same technique to condition your mind on purpose? Take control of your mind and get anxiety help.

So, listening to motivational speakers on audio tape on a regular basis. Daily is one effective way to add process training to your life, however, many of the thoughts they communicate race by without having a chance to take root in either your conscious or subconscious mind. And there is often a lot of fluff just to get to the main points that will really change your life. It is much more difficult to take advantage of the power of repetition which is crucial to create long term results.
