Wealth Beyond Reason – Abundance, Prosperity and Well-Being

Wealth Beyond Reason – Abundance, Prosperity and Well-Being

In this article, Bob Doyle shares the story of his path to “Wealth Beyond Reason” and how wealth isn’t just about money.

Kevin: Yes, so let’s get right into. I don’t like to waste any time and let’s start talking about how you’re here and why you’re here.

Bob: You know, obviously I’m here I think because of I get the knowledge that I’ve obtained over the past 5 or 6 years related to my understanding of how the universe works and how we can interact with it to create the lives, let’s create our lives by design. The interesting thing about how I’m here is you know this, we’ve got all these people listening to this call and over the next few weeks and there’s a lot of help and you know health and wellness-related conversations going on. Not just about, you know, tracking money and things like that and I think one of the things I want to express is you know because I have that program ‘Wealth Beyond Reason’ people tend to think it’s a money program and while money certainly is a part of abundance, it’s not the main focus of our program at all.

It really is about abundance and prosperity and well-being in all areas of your life and the story of how I actually got to this point is interesting because it has, it’s all about fitness and my own pursuit of getting my life together and health-wise. Back in 2000 I was a mess, you know? I just never really exercised and never did anything. I didn’t play sports in school and you know that was fine for a while until the metabolism changes at age 30 or whatever and then suddenly I said, “Hey, these pants don’t fit anymore” you know.

Anyway, so it really began for, I just needed to do something for my health and so I wasn’t driven by any, it wasn’t about money, it wasn’t about anything other than just trying to feel better and at that Kevin, you know, the Body for Life program was a big deal, you know?

Kevin: Yes.

Bob: It was really just getting out there and I think they’ve done a couple of challenges and I found it quote, unquote, by accident and I thought, well this is a 12 week program. This was an interesting thing for me. I needed to find, I did this not just about to lose weight and so on, I needed, it was a personal integrity issue. Can I stick with something for 12 weeks? Cause if I can’t, we’ve got a problem and can I keep a promise to myself and stay focused and all of that? And so that was all a part of why I did this thing in the first place.

So to make this story as short as possible, over the course of really it was about 11 months, I did that program, but then I also really started getting interested in fitness and nutrition and what really, really worked. How the body processed food and exercise and you know and to learn to be able to identify fad diets for what they were and things like that and just really understand how the body worked. And so as a result of doing that I was able to, I guess do some pretty, for me anyway, extraordinary things in terms of fitness. Got down to 5% body fat and all of this stuff which you know when I looked back I was actually just borderline obsessional about it you know?

Kevin: Sure.

Bob: You know I was really obsessed. So I had, I was kind of out of balance in that and that’s another whole story about what happens if you don’t maintain balance when you’re doing these types of things because then you start swinging back the other way almost in a rebellion mode. It’s like, “Okay, I’m done with this and now I’m going to eat like crazy and do whatever I want.” Anyway, the point is, is that my interest in fitness at the peak of its curiosity, I wanted to know how other people accomplished these results, too. This was before I had really gotten to 5% or learned all that stuff. I wanted to learn how did other people create these great before and after pictures and so this idea just came to me to create this website where I would interview people, post their pictures, and do audio interviews with them so they could share their story. The idea was that, you know, not only would I learn how they did this, but other people could, too, and really my focus was, ‘Well, what’s your, what are you eating and what was your exercise program?’ and all that.

But what I learned from these interviews was that this, the results were about far more than what they were doing in the gym and what they were eating. It was about who they were becoming as a person, who they decided they were going to be in life, because I really learned this when I become a personal trainer later on, you know? You can have people do all the right stuff. They can eat the right foods and they can do the right exercises and do the right amount of cardio or whatever and still not get the results and for the longest Kevin I had no idea why this was. But then after interviewing like over 150 people I started to see some pattern. The people who did, who were really, really successful all had some things in common. They dug deep inside themselves and found out who are they really?

Kevin: Okay.

Bob: What are they passionate about? What is important to them? Who do they want to be in the world? And they also did a lot of things like visualizing, you know? They didn’t just do the day to day stuff, they really had a clear picture of what they wanted to be in their life in terms of fitness in this area and so it wasn’t until much later that I when I started to understand how the Law of Attraction worked, which of course is really my area of expertise now. Why that visualization worked and why creating who you are in your mind as you’re doing these things, who you want to be, why that made such a difference as opposed to just doing the exercise program and so on and you know and then maybe getting results and maybe not.

So I, when I realized that this was, this transformation process which is really you know what this is all about, it’s about taking where you are and transforming yourself into where you want to be. The transformation process was really about people figuring out who they were, who they wanted to be, following their sense of purpose and their passion, and following that and that will, I found, will always lead you to where you want to go if you trust your sense of purpose, you trust your sense of passion and what makes that occur is the Law of Attraction.

So that’s why you know I’m so passionate about the Law of Attraction. People understanding how this permeates every aspect of your life including health and fitness, but also wealth, your relationships, and just everything. So that’s really, once I sort of lock, put all these puzzle pieces together, that’s when I really started shifting my focus away from just fitness to the bigger picture, you know, of how everything works and that’s how the wealth beyond, that’s the short version if you can believe it, that’s the short version of how ‘Wealth Beyond Reason’ began and how I’m here.

Kevin: Sure. You talk about the Law of Attraction. I think some, most people have heard about it. Can you give us just a brief explanation as to what you think is working when it comes to Law of Attraction?

Bob: Sure, well, the Law of Attraction is basically you know you have to understand that the basic premise, first of all, is that the universe and everything in it is composed of energy. I mean, that’s pretty basic quantum physics there and I think that most people will be able to accept that. That when you break everything down that’s energy and energy behaves in certain ways. What the Law of Attraction does is it explains how energy in various forms comes in and out of our experience. Actually it means that it goes beyond just our experience, but in terms of we as human beings and how we’re going to utilize it, what we want to understand is how are we attracting our circumstances?

And so the Law of Attraction explains how what we’re doing and what, how our energy, you know, all energy vibrates at particular frequencies. So how does that affect what comes in and out of our lives? And so the Law of Attraction states that we attract into our experience things with which we’re in vibration or resonance and I think there’s a big point of confusion that you know people think, “Well…” because it’s been oversimplified.

The definition has been oversimplified to say like, like attracts like. Well, that’s night exactly the case. There’s way too many examples when you can point to, you know, “Well, this person and that person, they’re complete opposites, but yet they’re happily married, they have been for a long. You know, how does that work? How does like attract like work there?” So it’s really, it’s deeper than that in terms of how the energy is interplaying. It’s about resonance and so if 2 energy patterns, if you will, are in resonance they tend to attract one another.

So the law attraction, understanding how the Law of Attraction works is about saying, “Well, how do we change our frequency, if you will, so that it matches whatever it is that we desire so those things will come into our lives?” Whether it’s, you know, a healthy body or a great relationship or money or whatever.

Affirmations can play a key role in helping you to leverage daily the Law of Attraction (LOA) for your training for a marathon, half marathon, or other endurance race.

What is an affirmation?

The Law of Attraction essentially says, “We become what we think about.” And we attract more of the feelings and beliefs that we regularly affirm. This is the power behind affirmations.

Why should I use affirmations for endurance running or walking?

You should write and repeatedly read affirmations as an endurance runner or walker because they can focus the Law of Attraction on behaviors and beliefs that will support your racing goals.

Who is the subject of an affirmation?

You should be the subject of each of your affirmations, with the affirmation written in first-person, singular form (as in “I am…”). The reason that having you as the subject of the affirmation is ideal is that your unconscious mind has direct control over you but does not have direct control over anyone else.

How should I write each affirmation statement?

As a positive, not negative, statement: Your unconscious mind will ignore any “no” or “not” in a statement. For example, your unconscious mind will convert “I do not slow down as I approach the finish line.” to “I do slow down as I approach the finish line.”; so “I maintain my pace or speed up as I approach the finish line.” is the preferable way to write this affirmation. Another reason to write affirmations in the positive is that they feel better to say to yourself. And that single, good feeling that you attach to the statement as you say it gives it a stronger impact on your unconscious mind than would a mixed-emotions, negative statement. A third reason to write affirmations in the positive is a practical one: Positive statements tend to be shorter than negative statements. So you can write them more easily and read them more easily.

About the present, not the future: Your unconscious mind treats each statement about the present as something over which it has full control. In contrast, it treats each statement about the future as something over which it has no control. In other words, your unconscious mind operates in the present.

As if it were true, even if it is false today: Every time that you read an affirmation to yourself, you are incrementally strengthening in your unconscious mind the belief expressed by that affirmation. Given that your unconscious mind cannot distinguish between fact and fiction, you can read to yourself an affirmation that is not true today with the assurance that eventually your unconscious mind will align your life with that affirmation such that eventually the affirmation is true. In other words, an affirmation need not be true when written or read, but repeated reading of the affirmation increases the likelihood that eventually it will be true.

With specificity: Specific statements have a stronger impact than vague, general statements have on your unconscious mind. For example, “I am a five-hour marathoner.” is more valuable than “I am a fast marathoner.” as an affirmation.

How many affirmations should I have?

The number of affirmations that you have related to your endurance running or walking depends totally on you. Some people prefer to have just a few affirmations. Other people like to have lots of affirmations, including many that are re-worded versions of other affirmations.

Where should I be when I am composing my affirmations?

You should compose your affirmations at a computer in a quiet, private location. You may want to play some inspiring or gentle music while writing them. A few minutes of meditation before beginning could help your writing, too.

Ideally, each affirmation should feel as if it were an expression of your best self — as if your “higher self” were telling you what it believes you are capable of being, doing, or experiencing.

If you are stumped when you initially sit down to type affirmations into your computer, then give yourself a goal to carry around a pen and small notebook so that you record several affirmation ideas as you go about your daily life. You eventually should have enough ideas in your notebook to produce several affirmations when you return to your computer.

What are some examples of affirmations for endurance runners or walkers?

Here are examples of affirmations that are correctly worded for an endurance runner or walker:

“I always breathe aerobically when I run.”

“I shave at least one minute off my personal record in every marathon that I run.”

“I eat exactly what I need for each walk.”

“I give myself permission to run my own race.”

“I stop for water precisely when necessary at water stops while walking my half marathon.”

Why should I record my affirmations to a computer?

Typing your affirmations into a computer document gives you three benefits over handwriting them:

Typing them on a computer lets you craft them easily. The ease of editing text with a computer ensures that you can craft affirmations that are “just right” for you to repeat many times to yourself over the coming days, weeks, and months.

Typing them on a computer lets you update them easily. Having your affirmations in a computer document means that you can refine them easily to suit you better as your needs or goals change but without having to re-write your entire list of affirmations.

Typing them on a computer lets you print them in different sizes. This gives you the flexibility to make a single-page list for scheduled reviews, larger printouts of affirmations for in-your-face display in your bedroom, bathroom, or office, and a wallet-size, laminated list for on-the-go review whenever you have downtime.

How should I read my affirmations?

Always read them as if you believe them, even if they are not yet(!) true.

Always read them with an emotional intensity that will capture the attention and imagination of your unconscious mind.

Read them aloud if at all possible.

Even if you are only reading them silently in your mind, vary from session to session your pace (from a fast-talker to a slow-talker), your pitch or accent (your own voice, the voice of a favorite actor, etc.), and your volume (from a whisper to a gentle shout) — to avoid boredom and to stimulate your unconscious mind in multiple ways with the same affirmations.

When and how often should I read my affirmations?

Plan to read your affirmations several times a day but at least twice a day:

As part of a morning ritual in which you use several LOA methods to prepare you for the day ahead;

Later in the day — and perhaps as you retire to bed — to reinforce them.

If you work at home, reading your affirmations aloud during your workday may be no problem. If you work in an office, in a retail store, in a warehouse, in a factory, or otherwise with other people in your workplace, then consider using your automobile or a secluded outdoor area as your “sound booth” in which you read your affirmations aloud.

What else can I do with my affirmations besides reading them to myself?

Post individual affirmations throughout your home, in your car, or in your office so that you see and unconsciously absorb them even though you do not consciously and deliberately read them.

Record yourself saying your affirmations, mix that voice recording with different background, instrumental songs that are suitable for the targeted periods for playback (such as for running, for stretching, or for winding down at the end of the day), and play the appropriate mixed recordings at least twice a day — such as while training for an endurance race, while driving, while in the shower, or while completing indoor or outdoor chores.

Affirmations can be used to improve practically any area of your life. It does not matter if the situation is a simple one or if it is absolutely critical, affirmations can be of great use. However many people who have used affirmations do not get the full benefit from them and even go as far as to claim they do not work. This is simply because they have not learned how powerful affirmations really are, how to use them to their fullest and why creating your own affirmations is so important.

What are affirmations used for?

Affirmations can be used in many areas of your life, for instance if you are going to an interview and you are feeling nervous you can use an affirmation like “I can do this, I will be a hit, I am a winner or I will succeed” to help you calm down and boost your moral and confidence. Affirmations can also be used to change your beliefs about something. Lets say you have the belief that there are no good men around anymore, you could use an affirmation like “I am open to the idea that there is a good man out there for me.” This will help you to change your belief about men. There are countless ways for you to use affirmations in your life.

Why write your own affirmations?

There are literally thousands of websites online offering you lists of affirmations that are supposed to change your life and although the affirmations are often powerful in of themselves, they often do not help the user for one simple reason. They are not specific to the users situation and beliefs. Here’s an example, suppose you are not happy about your body any you want to change the way you think about your body. So you choose an affirmation from a pre-written list that says, “I am beautiful and I love my body.”

Although this may be a good affirmation it is likely to be useless for anyone who is truly unhappy with his or her body. This is because if you have a negative belief and you try to change it by stating the direct opposite the first thing your mind will do is resist the positive statement as it is simply to big a jump from one end of the spectrum to the other. This is why it is so important to learn how to write affirmations that are specific and fully directed towards your needs.

Instead of trying to convince your mind of a fact that is directly opposite to what you believe, instead you would write an affirmation that is hopeful, positive and opens your mind to accepting a new belief. The affirmation could be something like, “I am making healthy choices to improve my body” or “little by little I am changing the way I look” or “I am open to the idea of reaching my perfect weight.”

When you soften your affirmations you receive less resistance and therefore stand a much greater chance of actually changing your beliefs and improving the negative self-talk. Then as your self-image improves you can make your affirmations even more powerful. The most important thing to remember when using affirmations is to focus on how the affirmation you are using makes you feel. If when you state the affirmation you feel tension or resistance to the words then the affirmation is too far away from your present belief and needs to be softened. Also when you do this you should include hopeful words and statements like “I intent to, I am moving towards, I am reaching for, and I am open to.”

Following these simple tips will help you to write powerful focused affirmations that will change your life and you will also be more in-tune with your feelings which will in turn help you to recognize when an affirmation is right for you and when it is not.

The Really Real Reason That MLM-Network Marketing Fails

The Really Real Reason That MLM-Network Marketing Fails

There are many great articles out there; a lot of great information floating around about network marketing. Well, strike that. There is a lot of information floating around about network marketing, but it is not all that great. It seems to me now that everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon and “sell” the secret of why MLM / Network Marketing Ventures fail, and want to be the one to “sell” you the “real” truth about what it takes to succeed. Obviously, if you use “their” program, then “obviously” you will succeed. So what are you waiting for?

Well, friends, neighbors, fellow entrepreneurs and network marketing gurus, I am here today to blast the “secret” all over kingdom come. I’m writing the one article that will rock the Internet, will shake the MLM business down to its core, and will forever change the face of network marketing. OK, maybe it’s not going to be that earth shattering, but it will be some good information. Unfortunately, I’m about to destroy the latest MLM “selling the secret” rage. Six thousand businesses are about to crash, because I’m going to give it to you free. It won’t cost you one dime.

So what is the secret? Why is it that MLM / Network Marketing Ventures fail? Are you ready? Is your pulse pounding in your temple, your breath caught in the back of your throat? Has time slowed to a crawl and the drum roll sounded as the highly sought after, much coveted secret information is about to be revealed? Sorry to kill the climax, but let’s look at something else first.

I recently read an article by Mr. Devlin Smith – 7 Tips for Network Marketing Success, May, 2005. I thought Mr. Smith’s article had some merit. In it, he identifies six key elements that are crucial to the success of any MLM / Network Marketing Opportunity, with which I agree. These are:

o Company Stability

o Excellent Products / Services

o Excellent Compensation Plan

o Company / Management Integrity

o Momentum and Timing

o Support, Training & Business Systems

I then read a related article by Mr. Michael Sheffield – Why Some MLMs Fail, August, 2003. In his article he identifies the reasons for Network Marketing Company failures. They are:

o Inexperienced management

o Insufficient capital

o Ineffective distributor team

o Inability to recruit distributors

o Incommensurate compensation plan

o Ineffective products

o Lack of uniqueness

But let’s face it. MLM / Network Marketing Opportunities have come a long way. There are many companies that have the six key elements, but 97% of the business owners are still failing. There are many network marketing companies with experienced management and sufficient capital who have effective teams and are able to recruit distributors, who have great compensation plans, effective products and unique opportunities (whew! that was a mouthful) – 97% of the individual MLM / Network Marketing distributors don’t make it. WHY??

OK. NOW here it comes (drum roll please, but don’t hold your breath).

The main reason that people who work at home, who utilize MLM / Network Marketing as their home based business model fail in their home business is this. It’s wrapped up in the titles Multi Level Marketing and Network Marketing.

People don’t know how to market.

Uh-oh. The Cat is out of the bag. Colossal, huge million-dollar secret rocks Internet! Wait! Did you blink and miss it? Let me throw it out there again.

People don’t know how to MARKET. The MARKETING part of MLM and Network Marketing.

People don’t know how to market their business.

People don’t know how to market their product.

There is so much hype out on the Internet today. Everyone advertises that their plan is the easiest, you don’t have to do anything; just sign up and make it rich. You’ve got to ask yourself, “Self, if I can sign up, do nothing, and get rich, why isn’t everyone doing it?” Because you and I both know this is not the case. To me, this mode of business building doesn’t make much sense. If I sign up a bunch of freeloaders who want a home business that’s free and easy, who expect to do nothing and yet make money, what is my business going to look like? It will look like exactly what it is. I’ll have a bunch of bums signed up who will contribute absolutely nothing to their success nor mine, who will blame me that they didn’t succeed. My business is doomed to failure. Well, I don’t need any more of THOSE pancakes, thank you very much.

Now most people know better than that. They know there has to be SOME work involved, but even then, they get immersed in a program or opportunity, still not knowing exactly what it takes to be successful. The one thing you NEVER find is someone saying, “Look dude, they only way you’re ever going to make it is if you know how to market your product, service, or business.” It’s the one key that is ALWAYS missing. I don’t care how great the program is, how unique the opportunity, great pay, great product – in the grand scheme of things, it just doesn’t matter. If you cannot get that opportunity out to the masses for them to see or use, you’re going to fail. You can go search the Internet right now and find a number of “great” systems and software that will supposedly help build your distributor network. But none of them work AT ALL unless someone else SEES it.

To me it is reminiscent of all the diet marketing you see on television. Whatever the pill, drink, meal, shake, etc., the marketing always includes the phrase, “with proper diet and exercise.” With their phenomenal product, AND diet and exercise, you’ll lose weight, VIOLA! But then I say to myself, “Self, if I just had the proper diet and exercise, I would lose weight and wouldn’t need their awesome product. In fact, I NEED your product, because I DON’T diet and exercise.” It’s the same way in MLM / network marketing circles. People don’t know how to market, so they need programs and software and schemes that will do the job for them. Accordingly, there is an entire ancillary network marketing industry that’s making millions of dollars selling the shovels required to mine the gold. Selling you all the marketing tools you need to be successful.

What a deal. What’s really interesting, is that if you ask around, you will find that most people spend more money on the plans, software and programs, TRYING to entice distributors, then they spend on using or marketing their product / service / business. It’s like this massive rat race, everybody’s wheels spinning, running in circles, spending enormous quantities of cash in every direction, except in the one direction that can really make the difference. So at the end of the day, when all is said and done, the money was spent, no marketing was performed, Joe Home-Biz is broke, and he’s now one of the 97% who only made it three months before his business caved in. Hey, but that’s OK, because at 100,000 people looking for a home business every month, there will be a long line of network marketers lining up for the newest program, who still don’t know what it takes to be successful.

So what’s the answer, you ask? Why, Thanks! I was hoping you’d ask that question, because now it’s my time to shine!! I’m neither a network marketing guru nor an expert. I’m actually a Safety Professional, so if you need help with OSHA regulations, I’m the guy. But I’ve also been through the school of hard knocks within the MLM / Network Marketing Industry, and so will make a few observations. (If you’ve read down this far, you might as will drink your coffee and finish this article!)

There’s not a business out there that doesn’t market. Even McDonald’s, the world’s most successful fast-food franchise, markets their products. How many times have you ever seen a McDonald’s franchise owner set up a meeting at a hotel, or tell all their friends and family to eat at only their restaurant, literally begging them to join their business? It doesn’t happen! So why should network marketing be any different?

Well, here are my observations:

1. The best distributor is the one who faithfully uses the product or service they provide to others – they really believe in it. That’s the best marketing around. Not to mention it is a bit hypocritical otherwise. I’ve seen many times where individuals join a program, but never use the product or service they expect to sell everyone else on. So my observation is that it is better to focus on selling the product or service, and then introducing those who really believe in the product or service to the opportunity. This would also help to maintain distributor retention rates versus having someone join the opportunity and then needing to convince them that the product or service is excellent. Me personally, if I don’t believe in it, I absolutely won’t tell anyone else about it.

2. Anyone going into business needs to plan on marketing the product or service, to include a monthly budget. If you fail to plan, then plan to fail. Enough money needs to be budgeted on a monthly basis to fund purchasing the product or service for personal use (your minimum PV, etc.), and to facilitate some type of marketing campaign. This is a small paragraph, but probably the most important aspect regarding success in network marketing. In fact I would say that this is the root cause for such a high failure rate in the industry. This is the reason people don’t make it, the reason people can’t stay in long enough for the network marketing exponential multiplication to take effect. See, the BIG DOGS in network marketing know that if they just stay in long enough and keep marketing, eventually the business will take off and they’ll make money.

3. If you really want to be successful in a MLM / Network Marketing Venture, then you need to get with a COMPANY that understands the importance of merging direct marketing techniques with the network marketing business. Old school network marketing is dead, and those who understand that fact will be the ones who have massive success in the future. Successful network marketing companies fully embrace direct marketing techniques. These would include:

o Internet Marketing

o Television Commercials

o Radio Infomercials

o Ads in Newspaper and Magazines

o Email Marketing

o Ezine Marketing

o Direct Mail

o and others…

Network Marketing can be a successful business venture if you plan ahead and really understand what you are getting into. You must be able to invest in your business (and future), and be willing to stay in for the few years that it is going to take your business to grow. But most importantly, when considering which business you’d like to promote, always check with the “management” of the company and see if they have a solid for marketing your business that includes off-line and online techniques. Remember, no one is going to be more concerned about your business than you. So look hard, understand the requirements, and GO FOR IT!

Now you know the really “real” reason that Network Marketing / MLM ventures fail. To be forewarned is to be armed in advance. And don’t forget, you heard it here first!

There is little doubt that using affirmations can help you develop a mindset that can help you achieve limitless wealth, success and self fulfillment. Most people when they use affirmations simply use positive affirmations and while they are effective, there are a number of things that you can do to make your use of affirmation far more effective.

1. Record your own affirmations. Commercial recordings work very well but, affirmations recorded in your own voice are more effective. While commercial recordings use a generic voice, it has been scientifically proven that your subconscious mind is far more sensitive to the sound of your own voice. When your subconscious mind hears your voice, it is far more likely to accept the affirmation and embed it permanently in your memory than the generic voice on a commercial recording.

2. Write your own affirmations. Commercial audios, by nature, design their affirmations for the widest possible audience. While this may help, if you write your own affirmations, they will specifically address the areas that you need to work on. In addition, your subconscious mind is also more sensitive to your style of writing and speaking and will therefore accept the affirmation much more readily.

3. Record your affirmations with a musical background. Famed super learning researcher Georgi Lorzanov discovered that the mind will achieve a super learning state when you play certain types of music while listening to your affirmations. Play Mozart, Bach or possibly an entrainment audio and the mind will settle into the Alpha State and be much more receptive to new knowledge or affirmations. The scientific name for this is the “Mozart Effect.” This is also the reason that they recommend that you play classical music while your child is very young. Children who listen to classical music up to the age of five, typically develop a much higher IQ.

4. Use the Lorzanov pattern to listen to your affirmations. Lorzanov also discovered that a specific repetitive pattern was more effective in creating a super learning state. Repeat your affirmations 3 times with a 6 second interval and the effect of the affirmations will be much stronger.

5. Don’t just use positive affirmations. While positive affirmations are very effective, they are only part of the story. The human mind is a steel trap. Once you have learned something, you will never forget it. If you learned a self limiting belief when you were young, you will remember it for life. For this reason, you should use clearing affirmations. What you are trying to do is correct the old false belief with a corrected version of that belief. For example, you may have heard as a child that rich people are greedy. To try to correct this false belief, you might try a corrective affirmation like this: people say that rich people are greedy but, the truth is that the truly wealthy are the most charitable people in the world. This way the old self limiting thought pattern has been replaced with a corrected version which will not limit your financial growth.

Affirmations are incredibly effective in creating a wealth mindset and these few little steps will make them much more effective. Affirmations are far more than just positive thinking.

There’s a Reason We Love Computer Games

There’s a Reason We Love Computer Games

Video computer games have become as much a pillar of our entertainment universe as books and movies. Why is it that so many of us are drawn to the computer monitor or TV screen like flies? A bit of history might help explain the phenomenon.

Originally computers were all work and no play, being outrageously expensive to build and operate. But computer engineers and designers, being overgrown kids after all, soon began to get comfortable with their big room-filling machines. In their idle hours it occurred to them that it might be kind of cool to have the computer show some spaceships and planets cruising around the galaxy. An in the 1960s a group of fun-loving computer geniuses created SpaceWar, the father of the famous arcade game Astroids.

These games were well received by geniuses and regular folks alike, which motivated the geniuses to design some more fun stuff. They could have used the computers for a lot of diversions, but somehow the visual element of the games activated the imagination. Over time we got Pong, PacMan and a continually evolving string of games, including software that eventually could beat chess masters at their own game.

By the late 1980s computer games software was getting quite sophisticated, with the invention of Sim City. This product expanded on what was going on through all the previous games; the players were being drawn into an imaginary world. Not unlike books and movies, these video games were very satisfying mentally. Sim City actually allowed the user to create amazing cities and even worlds.

Also in the 1980s, a group of computer programmers began creating software that would show moving images all generated by computer. The images started out very simple, almost like stick figures but they could dance in time to a music track. No skin, no facial features but it was very exciting to think what might come with more powerful computers. The computing power grew exponentially and, over 20 years, we now have not only some fabulout computer generated movie effects and whole characters, but the realism of video games has taken a quantum leap forward.

A good video game will draw you in to another world and, unlike a book or movie, a computer game will offer an interactive experience. In fact, at least one computer game has become sufficiently popular to become an action movie; think Mario Brothers. But it’s funny that sometimes a simple game can be as entertaining as a much more sophisticated game. Some of the most beloved games of all are Tetris (stack those blocks), Pac Man and Pong.

A modern computer will still do a great job of playing state-of-the-art video games. There are hundreds of options, including many that pit you online against other players. Then there are the specialty consoles like PlayStation, Nintendo and XBox360. With tricked-out controllers, guitars and wands, you can really develop some hand-eye coordination by playing many of the current titles.

One of the most fun educational games is Roller Coaster Tycoon, where you build your own amusement park and then operate it with “real” guests making decisions about which rides to take. If a guest loses their lunch on a roller coaster you’d better have a custodian clean it up or the guests will stay away. You must watch income and expenses and save money to build more attractions. This is a great game.

But the bottom line as to why we’re so enamored with computer games software is that it captures our imagination in a variety of interactive ways. Our games are prized possessions and it is wise to treat them carefully to make them last.

1 Main Reason Why Change Management Doesn’t Change a Thing

1 Main Reason Why Change Management Doesn’t Change a Thing

According to a recent survey, 85% of C-Level Execs say that their “change initiatives” fail. That’s 15% success rate.

There are books, studies, tons of training about how to successfully incorporate change management. Yet time after time, change sputters to an ignoble end in most organizations. Why is that?

There are of course many reasons for lack of success. Not properly thought out, needed resources not applied to the change and so on. But the absolute, most significant reason for failure in Change Management is that the do’ers are not the decision makers.

We first have to look at the role of management in today’s companies. Any company, managers are no longer strictly managers. You have your own responsibilities, things you need to get done, reports, meetings and so on. Managing the department and its people is an actual side responsibility for today’s manager, that gets fit in whenever there is time (which there isn’t) or when there is a crisis (which there is).

So the manager’s direct reports are required to be more self directed then ever before with greater responsibility for projects completions. That doesn’t mean that you can’t get some direction from your manager, but chances are it will be a quick in and out, specific questions and answers, then off goes the manager to the next meeting. The days of management spending their days available to provide direction, focus on observing, supporting, cultivating their people’s skills is over. So, people need to “step up to the plate”, “show initiative” and I’m sure there’s a few more clichés!

When change is needed, those that are needed to successfully carry out the change (the do’ers) most likely going to be those front line people. After the entire program is rolled out and the hoopla and the PowerPoint slides get put away, it’s the individual contributor that will be needed to implement the change desired and sustain it. The managers are on to the next crisis, problem of the moment. And what’s wrong with that?

After all, they told everybody what they need to do! Management spent weeks, if not months working out what everybody’s responsibilities were and who needs to report what. So what happened? Or more importantly, what didn’t happen?

Once again, the do’ers were not the decision makers.

Let’s play a game. Let’s pretend even that the change coming down actually is a workable process. When management locked themselves in a room and looked at the change needed, they actually got it right. They understood all the important elements and how they need to fit in order for the change to be successful. It will work, right? Certainly better chances, but guess what, it ain’t gonna happen.

Why?

In order for change to be fully implemented and successful one of two things need to happen.

1. The management (decision makers) needs to ride herd on it. They need to ensure that all elements are put in place, unexpected obstacles are dealt with quickly, that needed behavior is changed on a permanent basis, that uncertainty and questions regarding what needs to be done are resolved immediately to keep the change moving in a positive direction. And as mentioned previously, management has galloped off towards a new project leaving the front line people responsible for its implementation.

2. The do’ers have seats at the table. And I’m not talking about a representative in a room full of managers. In fact they should be all the people at the table.

Let’s go back to the “perfect plan” that the manager’s came up with. Let’s pretend that the room full of front line people actually came up with the exact same plan. Will there be a difference? Absolutely!

The people that know exactly what needs to be done, the people that have strong buy-in to the success of the “change” will now be those actually implementing and maintaining the change. The do’ers and the decision makers are now the same people. If you use the proper people on the committee, enlisting “influencers” to design and bring the change to the organization, you will not only have them committed and enthusiastic about what is happening, but also the people that are influenced and trust them. Much greater chance of success.

And guess what? Less work for the managers! If you do form a committee, give them the question. What do we need to do to XXX? Improve profits, quality, output, etc. Give them a broad outline. Have the committee, full of who will be required to achieve the change, formulate the path forward. Chances are it will also deal with stumbling blocks that management didn’t even think about.

And it’s their plan! And which would anyone be more dedicated to seeing succeed, a plan that you helped create and form or something (possibly unworkable) imposed from someone else?

Obviously, their needs to be management involvement in any change committee’s work. Management needs a representative to ensure the goal remains focused and a voice for how and where management can support the change needed.

And isn’t that what management is suppose to do?

The closer management comes to understanding that their job is not to TELL people what they need to do, but support their people in being effective contributors of the organization, the better the chance of success of the individual, the department, the organization and any change that needs to be implemented.

The irony of course is that in order for Change Management to work, the first step required is to change management’s way of doing business. And when the do’ers are the decision makers, good things can happen.

Baby Boomers And Political Effects – Reason Behind How America Is What It Is Today!

Baby Boomers And Political Effects – Reason Behind How America Is What It Is Today!

Firstly one has to understand all about baby boomers and who exactly they are. These are actually those who were born within the period starting from 1946 to 1964. The name baby boomers came in because of the high birth rate in this period. As a statistical fact, there was an addition of 78 million births in that period.

Nowadays our very own baby boomers are turning into their middle age. Today or so they turn 50 years in age as frequently as every 7 seconds.

The birth period of these baby boomers as they are called is set in the period of high social strife of civil rights protest and the gory scene of the cold war. This has resulted in them having distinct cultural and political patterns in their characters. This is the very baby boomer generation which made the United States of America what it is today. It was the baby boomer generation who paved and led the way on to a modern living. The fact that these boomers came of age in a period of high social tension like the civil rights protest made them well aware of the political and social tensions that the country faced then.

Who were the leading protesters in the Vietnam issue and also in the case of the draft? Baby boomers! Not just that but also the fact that this was the very generation which revolutionized the rock and roll music like the Beatles, Motown Sounds and the Beats.

The time of the baby boomers was when the Americans emerged as super powers and their main enemies were the socialists and communists, one can not fail to notice how these people’s very view on governmental policies, military were so different from that of the rest of the world.

Even today the baby boomer heroes of yesteryear continue to protest against social malfunctions such as unemployment off late. This is mainly because of the fact that during their period unemployment was not at all heard of, provided one is Caucasian and one is not unwilling to work.

Now the baby boomers form a large part of the industrial, cultural, academic and political leadership in the US. Actually George Bush and Bill Clinton, two very important presidents in America’s front, were indeed born in the period of the baby boomers.

Clearly one can notice that it is the baby boomers are the one leading nations today. Looking in at the administration of the Clinton and the Bush period one can notice the common ideologies that was implemented. Both their schemes concentrated on civil rights and more emphasis was given to reformation of the military.

One also observes that the two presidents have also been working to increase the rate of the economy of their country, in which they have succeeded well too. They have tried to improve the standard of living. They have always been working to make the life of every American easier to live. This is mainly because of the strong cultural and civic influence they had in their childhood.

So whenever you are treated well and you are given your fundamental and civil rights on due and are respected you should think of all those baby boomers who have made it possible right from their era. The baby boomers have well laid down the way to a better living thus making the United States of America one of the most sought after places to live in today.

When you search the Internet for information on how to create affirmations you find that there is an overwhelming predisposition to phrasing affirmations in the first person – that is using I, me, my, or mine in the affirmations.

There is a good reason for it. Traditionally, affirmations were used by people a narrow subset of the population – people in recovery, super salespeople, or elite athletes. The formula preached by the affirmation gurus who worked with these groups was to write your affirmations in the first-person and sit in front of the mirror (Stuart Smalley style) and repeat your affirmations until – by sheer will – you believed them.

No one can deny that many people used this technique to great effect. The fact is, however, that most people are too busy or find performing this ritual kind of cheesy. The parody created by the Stuart Smalley character on Saturday Night Live, in my opinion, only served to make affirmations “nerdy” and cause people who could use them to shy away.

Today people who want to change their habits, reshape their thinking, or condition their minds for success get their affirmations by listening. My own 15-plus year experiment with affirmations has found that repeated listening (both with intent and passively) is every bit as effective as the mirror talk.

Listening to affirmations provides the added benefit of being able to augment first-person affirmations with second-person affirmations – affirmations using you or your. The importance of adding ‘you’ to affirmations is that it allows you to tap into one of the greatest powers of affirmations – thought substitution. Thought substitution is a process by which you replace an existing negative thought or belief with a positive one. It is one of the most important benefits of using affirmations.

Most of the negative self-talk you seek to overcome with affirmations originated from outside of you. Other people planted the thoughts and you internalized them and made them part of your thinking. These thoughts are almost always phrased (even in your own mind) using ‘you’ because that is how you originally absorbed them.

For instance, your mother said, “You are so stupid,” when you were 10 years old. For whatever reason, you internalized that thought. Over the years, whenever you mess up you hear the phrase, “You are so stupid,” in your mind.

So, using this example, you create a first-person affirmation that says, “I am smart,” to counter the old thought. The affirmation will be somewhat effective in countering the old thought, but it will not replace it. Oddly enough, there is something about the thought substitution process that requires a one-for-one switch for maximum effectiveness.

The “I am smart” affirmation plays a role in affirming our own belief in our intelligence. However, the old thought, “You are so stupid,” is still floating around in your mind and you wind up with two conflicting beliefs.

What I have found resolves this situation is to complement the first-person affirmation with a second-person version that can – with repetition – actually replace the old thought. The most effective means is to listen to or repeat the affirmation in the first-person affirmation several times and follow it with the affirmation in the second-person several times.

The result is that you are simultaneously planting a new internal thought, “I am smart,” and replacing the old external thought with a substitute thought coming from the outside that confirms, “You are smart.”

Try adding the power of ‘you’ to your affirmations!

The New Age Thinking regarding the use of affirmations can be somewhat frivolous. The idea that you can simply think about or affirm what you want and then get it is decidedly absurd. Yet, there is no doubt that thinking is a formative force in the materialization and fabrication of our world view and the conditioned circumstances in which we exist. How we view the world, and ourselves, as we are in and of the world, determines how we act which in turn results in effects. Our current situation–all the conditions of our present life and the various contexts in which we find ourselves, is a direct result of our past, specifically how we have used language in describing ourselves, our capacities, abilities and goals all of which is a precursor for behavior which, again, is causative meaning it brings about effects.

Language is not only our tool for communication. It is also our tool for thought. We think in words as well as mental pictures. But, language is a rather crude instrument. In English, with a mere 26 letters, we codify and represent all our experience…and communicate that experience, as best we can, with language. How can 26 letters encompass not just decades but ages upon ages of experience?

Language is tricky…it’s not always easy to understand the true meaning of a word or phrase. For example “love” has many different shades of meaning. When we say we love that new restaurant down the street, is that the same as when we say we love our mother? And when we are told that we should love ourselves, what kind of love do we apply? The kind of love we have towards our pet? Our sibling? One of the most common New Age Affirmations is something along the lines of “I love myself.” What does that mean? Really? Do we love ourselves the way we love our spouse? The way we love our neighbor? We don’t do those very well, so how could we possible love ourselves any better?

Because thought, which uses language, is a formative force. Affirmations are important. What we say to ourselves, and how we say it, does have an impact upon our mind, our body and our behavior…which, being causative, brings about effects. It behooves us to consider the positive and accurate use of affirmations as part of mental health hygiene. Just as you brush your teeth twice a day, so taking a few minutes to use language and thought in such a purposeful way that the mind is imprinted with positive impressions, is healthy. And, just as toothbrushes come in different styles and choosing one that works well is a consideration, so too designing an effective and accurate affirmation takes some meditation.

There are some basic guidelines to the proper use of affirmations: relatively short, first person singular, realistic, and yet not necessarily a present reality, vividness and kinaesthetic intensity, which is feeling. An affirmation is generally no longer than a few sentences and mostly just one simple sentence. The most common beginning of the sentence is “I am” and this is actually a very good affirmation to start with. After you brush your teeth, look in the mirror and say to yourself “I am.” After you’ve done that for a couple of months consistently, you can add on to it. For example, “I Am Healthy.” Of course, exactly what “healthy” consists of is not detailed, nor should it be. The word “healthy” is associated with dozens, if not hundreds, of other words, phrases, images and feelings. It’s those associations that gives that word its meanings. As you say “I am healthy” the subconscious mind automatically conjures images of what that means. As you repeat that affirmation as if it is a mantra, the images and feelings become intensified. But, you ask, what if I am not healthy, as many people in fact are not. You can still affirm this statement. It is not a hope or a want, it can be a statement of fact…even though it may currently be a lie.

Many of the beliefs and world views we hold today were built up through repetitive use of affirmations…simple sentences…which were, at the time, untruths. But, having repeated them so often, in first person singular, with vividness and feeling, these simple statements which were not at the time realities, became so. For example, a child growing up and learning language might imitate their parent who might often say “I’m such a klutz.” The child begins to imitatively repeat this affirmation and, although not a reality at the time, can easily become one.

To affirm something in the present which is not currently a reality is not a lie. It is simply a conflict. The subjective reality of the affirmative statement, coupled with vividness and feeling, is in conflict with the objective reality of consensual agreement. As the new affirmative statements are repeated the conflict increases. During this period of conflict there may be very strong thoughts attempting to convince one that the objective consensual reality is “the truth.” By continuing on with daily affirmative statements the creative subconscious mind begins to work towards conflict resolution. One of the two “realities” must be dissolved. There is tremendous force and momentum behind the objective consensual reality. Yet with simple persistence, the new subjective affirmative reality which was in conflict with the objective consensual reality begins to take dominance. The objective consensual reality’s basis, which is nothing other than established internal, subjective, affirmative statements becomes less rigid…it begins to crack. It becomes subordinate, and diminishes, and eventually dissolves away. Objective indications of the new affirmative position begins to be noticed in the world of consensual agreement…a new personal reality begins to emerge which is also substantiated by growing objective consensual agreements.

So, you may currently be very unhealthy. That does not matter. You can still affirm “I Am Healthy.” Be warned however, that as the weeks and months pass, as the conflict between the objective consensual reality and the newly forming subjective affirmative statements increases, there may be tendencies to prove to yourself that you are unhealthy. These tendencies need not be acted upon and, like storm moving through the region, they too pass; and then you may find yourself engaging in behaviors which are more aligned with the newly forming subjective reality of being healthy. What these new behaviors are will vary from individual to individual. There is no prescription as to diet, exercise, etc. The behaviors arise from the subconscious mind which is now accepting the newly forming reality. Although some may argue that you must affirm specifics, this writer believes the more generic, the greater the chance of allowing the creative subconscious mind to organize and formulate the necessary components of that reality without undue influence from the conditioned conscious mind.

There are a number of simple, generic affirmations that can be practiced. For example, “I am competent,” “I am efficient,” I am relaxed,” are some very simple affirmative statements that if practiced regularly can impact the subconscious mind in such a way as to bring about behaviors that are in alignment with that affirmation. Here is a longer affirmation that can be useful to repeat upon awakening in the morning and upon retiring in the evening: “I am a unique person, wonderful in many ways. I am gifted with the freedom to make choices and the means to act. I live in a world of possibilities and respond with intelligence. I am alert to what is happening around me. I can communicate. I am able to reason and I can learn. I will often remember…I am a unique person, wonderful in many ways.”

Few would argue the formative power of thought. Every single tool in our culture, from a simple hammer to space shuttles was first a thought in the mind. And clearly language plays a critically important role in thinking. Sometimes crafting an appropriate and accurate affirmative statement requires some assistance by a psychological wordsmither.
