Interior Design – An Effective Tool in Recording History

Interior Design – An Effective Tool in Recording History

Overall Design addresses a society and its culture in any marked period in time. This is true whether the form of design we are addressing is interior, graphical or architectural. The further you go back in history, you will realize how interior design has blended between artistic societies, has crossed boundaries, and has traveled across continents.

The history of interior design is constantly changing as new ideas eventually take effect and modern materials are gradually developed to accentuate the home. No one knows when the art of interior decorating and design were recognized but as long as there have been homes to live in, these elements of design have existed in some primitive form.

Interior Design for the Wealthy The mounting evidence of the history of interior design is in the history of the architecture. It appears that throughout the history, interior design was limited to the very wealthy. There is evidence to suggest that interior design was important to the Ancient Egyptians. The richly decorated tombs for the pharaohs were designed both as a final resting place and as comfort for the pharaoh in the next life.

They also believed that architectural design was determined by the gods. Thus they believed that they should not attempt to alter the look of the temples and tombs because improving on perfection was not possible. This belief did not deter the rulers of that time from erecting larger versions of the same design.

Historians are fortunate that so many tombs and temples remained and were not destroyed giving them an overall unbiased view of ancient Egyptian culture.

There are further indications to suggest that the rooms of the ancient Romans were planned around the varied ways that they would be used, which is a key part of modern interior design. For example, they would have separate living rooms based on luxurious comfort for summer and winter seasons.

Development of Interior Design We can follow the development of design over time. During the Italian Renaissance, all arts experienced an escalation in popularity. Wealthy patrons contributed capital to support the arts.

The mansions of this period were luxuriously decorated with beautiful furniture, oriental carpets, intricately designed mirrors and works of art.

In France during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the design of interior spaces followed purpose and form, with some of the most prominent examples being the excessive decoration of the palace at Versailles, an expression of royal corruption.

Industrial Revolution At this period in history of interior design, such things were again well out of reach of the average person. This all changed with the advent of the Industrial Revolution. This economic revolution made goods for home decoration cheaper and the middle-class families were soon able to afford such luxuries as having some one else design their home. It was not long before interior design magazines were gradually developed, and the business of interior designer became an industry in itself.

Conclusion The history of interior design can be such an interesting and fascinating subject and one which integrates profound information about historic interiors with knowledge about historic buildings. It was shaped by numerous styles, movements, social developments and technological revolutions. This history niche has a lot to tell of the individuals living in a particular place and time and will continue to be an effective tool in recording history.

Affirmation is a statement of an idea you desire to “make firm”, to impress upon your subconscious mind, so that eventually it begins to work for you automatically.

There are many different ways to practice self-hypnosis, and writing affirmations is one of them. As you keep on working with self-hypnosis, you may find that at different times your mood and preferences may change and different methods may be more suitable for you. The more options you are aware of, the better you will be able to deal successfully with any situation regardless of the circumstances.

There may be times when you just want to relax and listen to a hypnosis recording and let it guide you toward your desired outcome. There may be times when you feel too busy and may find it more suitable to just let the subliminal recording play in the background. And then, there may be times when you feel too restless, or you are experiencing some pressing feelings you’d like to get out of your system and transform them, times when you just don’t feel like relaxing, but would rather engage in some form of physical action. Writing affirmations is one of the things you can do at such times. By the way, you can write them or type them, repeat them silently or aloud, or even sing them, according to your preference.

Another purpose of writing affirmations is that they allow you to become aware of any conflicting beliefs hiding in your subconscious mind, so that you can transform them at the same time.

An effective process of working with affirmations has three main stages- just like a good hypnosis session, a prayer, or any other form of change-work. The following process describes an effective way you can work with affirmations.

STAGE 1

The first stage gets you into the appropriate state of mind for impressing the affirmation upon your subconscious. In a regular hypnosis session, you get into this state of mind generally through relaxing your mind and body. When working with affirmations, you may want to align yourself with the source of all power, or if you prefer, your own inner power to create changes in your life, by writing appropriate affirmations.

The purpose of this stage in hypnosis is to help you to put aside the critical faculty of your conscious mind. The purpose of this stage when writing affirmations is to help you put your “outer” self aside, so that you can access your inner “creative power”, your “true Self” which knows of no limitations and has all the knowledge and power to bring about the desired changes in your life.

Here are few samples of such affirmations:

“I live and move and have my being in an ocean of love, power and wisdom of God”.

“I am in, one with, and completely amalgamated with all love, power and wisdom of God”.

“I allow all the love, power and wisdom of God to express fully and freely through me now.”

Depending on the goal you are working with, you may replace the word(s) “love, power and wisdom”, with “God”, “Spirit”, “abundance”, “peace”, “energy”, “healing energy”, “light”, “life”, “chi”, “ki” or any other attribute or the “universal essence”.

How long should you keep on writing these affirmations in one sitting? Until you get the corresponding FEELING. You impress your subconscious mind through FEELINGS, so you need to keep on writing until you can FEEL that the affirmation you are writing is true for you.

If listening to a particular music helps you to create the desired feeling, by all means have that music playing in the background. You may also listen to corresponding subliminal or supraliminal recordings while writing your affirmations.

STAGE 2

The second stage of writing affirmations consists of your “goal-specific” affirmations. Your goal should be stated in positive terms (what you want to experience instead of what you don’t want), and be in a present tense – “as if” the desired outcome is your reality now.

Your affirmations should begin with “I am” or “I am becoming”, “I have”, etc.

Your affirmations should also be specific. For example, if you affirmed “I now have more money” – you may find one cent somewhere and the affirmation would be fulfilled, but that’s probably not what you had in mind. Your subconscious mind takes your statements literally and it fulfills them according to what you affirm. A better affirmation would be “I now have $ (specific amount)”, or “I am now earning $ (specific amount) a month”.

You may write these affirmations in the first (“I am”), second (“You are”) and third person (“[your name] is”).

Your affirmations will be even more effective if you incorporate “feeling” words into your affirmations. For example

“I feel so good that I am now able to …”

“I feel so exited now that I have …”

“I have decided to …”

“I am committed to …”

Certain types of general affirmations do work well, too.

For example

“All my needs are now and forever supplied”, or

“I am enjoying perfect health now and forever”.

These general types of affirmations are pretty close to the affirmations you were writing in the first stage of the affirmation process because what you’re doing here is affirming and aligning yourself with spiritual truths. You are simply affirming that you desire to experience in your physical world what is already true for you in spirit. You are acknowledging these spiritual truths and allowing them to express in your life.

The universe (or, your subconscious / Superconscious mind – whatever term you prefer) follows the path of least resistance. This means that what you ask for will come in a way that is the easiest to get according to your beliefs, desires and expectations and according to beliefs, desires and expectations of everyone else who may be involved in your project.

If you leave the “how”, what you desire will come about often much faster than if you insist that it has to come in any specific way. You can simply state:

“[your desired goal] now manifests for me in a perfect way for the highest good of all”.

There may be many more ways of getting what we desire than the ways we are consciously aware of, so leaving this element to the universal creative intelligence (or to your “inner wisdom”) would often help you to get something that is even better than what you have originally envisioned.

It is also good to distinguish between the “form” and the “essence”. The “essence” relates to the feeling you’re after, the feeling you believe the specific thing would give you. The “form” is the thing you believe will best fulfill this need and enable you to experience the desired feeling. Often times we may get exactly the thing we asked for only to find out that it didn’t really give us the feeling we desired to experience. Also, focusing on the “essence” or the “feeling” will help to manifest the truly desired experience in your life much faster and to your greater satisfaction.

To find out what is the “essence” of what you desire, you may simply ask yourself a question “What will having this thing enable me to experience?” For example if you are in debt, you ultimate desire to have all of your needs met and all debts paid off. Even if it is a financial debt, you may or may not need money to pay it off. There are many different ways in which your debt may be cleared – it may happen that you encounter new opportunities to create that money and pay the debt, it may happen that money from an unexpected source lands in your lap, it may happen that the debt simply becomes erased as if it never existed, or some other serendipitous circumstances occur. For this reason, it is always in your best interest to remain open and expect even miraculous solutions, while at the same time you commit yourself to do your very best to help yourself.

The affirmations you write will work in conjunction with the beliefs which are already impressed upon your subconscious mind. So, if you are writing affirmations for prosperity, what may initially happen is that you end up with more offers for the same type of work you’re accustomed to getting.

This simply means that, through repeated action, this method of acquiring money has become conditioned in your subconscious mind. And, of course, you can change it by reaffirming the method in which you’d rather be acquiring money now, until this new idea becomes impressed upon your subconscious mind.

Or, if you have a health challenge, and begin to affirm for perfect health, the first method you may come across may again be the one that is most acceptable to you according to beliefs and conditioning already impressed in your subconscious mind.

Whatever first comes your way as a response to your affirmation doesn’t mean that it’s the only way – it just means that it’s most appropriate based on your current beliefs. By sticking with the idea you really had in mind, sooner or later you’ll get your desired outcome.

You may also get the actual thing you are after or you may end up with a lot of opportunities requiring some kind of action on your part and leading to the acquisition of the desired thing. It is important to recognize when what you asked for is manifesting in some way in your life, even if it’s not exactly what you asked for. This will still boost your confidence and condition your subconscious mind for success because you’ll know that something is working even if you need to adjust your request in some way.

While I did say that you should be “specific” there are some things that you should avoid regardless of how initially attractive such ideas may seem to be. Things to avoid are asking for a job that a specific person has, a possession belonging to a specific person, or that a specific person (e.g. Joe or Mary) goes out with you on a date, or worse, drops dead. Can you get those things with affirmations? Yes, you can – but ultimately you may not like the consequences. These things would be “ill-gotten” and sooner or later, something would be taken away from you “in exchange”, something that you consider valuable.

You can, on the other hand, affirm for yourself that you are irresistibly attractive and that you ideal partner is now coming into your life. You can also list down the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual qualities of such a person as well as any other general interests. You can specify what kind of relationship you’d like to attract and enjoy. You can specify that you’d like to work in a specific occupation, make certain amount of money, etc. And you can affirm peace, love, happiness and abundance for other people. In short, if you wouldn’t want other people affirming something for you, don’t affirm such things for others.

When you affirm for something, it is pretty much like throwing a pebble (your statement) into an ocean (of infinite supply). It will create waves in all directions, gather all different expressions of the energy (thoughts and feelings) you just sent out, it will multiply and come back to you. So, unless you’d really like to experience what you asked for multiplied and returned to you, don’t affirm it.

If you desire something, but don’t have a clue how to create such experience in your life, or it appears that all doors are closed to you, you can affirm:

“The way now opens for me to … (state your desire)”

The way to uncover any conflicting beliefs you may have regarding what you desire to create in your life is to write your affirmation once, then take a deep breath, and write down whatever first comes to your mind as a response to such statement. Then write your affirmation again, take another deep breath and write down whatever comes to your mind as a response. For example:

(affirmation) “I, (your name), completely forgive myself”

(response) “I smashed my dad’s car. I was so irresponsible.”

(affirmation) “I, (your name), completely forgive myself”

(response) “I never once called my mother in two years. What kind of a person am I?”.

(affirmation) “I, (your name), completely forgive myself”

(response) “I yelled at my son. Oh boy, I’m so stressed out” … etc.

Incidentally, if you choose to work with forgiveness affirmations, it is recommended that you write them 70 times a day for seven days. You are bound to experience some major transformation and emotional clearing in just one week. You may be very surprised with the results.

And talking of “clearing”, if you find yourself standing in front of apparently insurmountable obstacles, you may write the following affirmations:

“The path to my (being, having, doing) …is now clear.”

“All obstacles to my (being, having, doing) … vanish into nothingness”.

“I now give all of my problems to the Spirit (Christ, Inner Wisdom, God) within me.”

“All obstacles to my (being, having, doing) … now dissolve in the Light.”

“I totally surrender to my Inner Wisdom”.

“Beloved God, Thy Will be done in me and through me now and forever.”

STAGE 3

The third stage of the affirmation process consists of closing the process. In hypnosis, this is usually done through suggestions for emerging from the state of hypnosis to normal waking consciousness.

While writing affirmations, you can write down “gratitude” affirmations acknowledging the acceptance of the blessings (change) you have just asked for.

Some examples of these affirmations are:

“I am deeply grateful for my life”.

“I am deeply grateful that I now enjoy perfect health.”

“I am deeply grateful that the million dollars are now manifesting in my hands.”

“I am deeply grateful for the ability to serve others.”

“I am deeply grateful for my ability to …”

And, of course, you may close the whole process with “It is so!”, or “So be it!”, or “Amen!” knowing that what you asked for will most definitely manifest in your life according to your beliefs and expectations.

Basic Book of Accounting – Journal – Recording Debit and Credit in Accounting

Basic Book of Accounting – Journal – Recording Debit and Credit in Accounting

Traders are required to maintain different books for keeping accounts relating to business which are as under:

(I) Journal

(2) Ledger (it shall be explained in another article)

Journal

In order to study the journal, certain related terms along with the procedure of accounting must be studied, which are as follows :

The Account

Transactions involving receipts and payments of cash affect the cash balance. Receipts increase the cash balance and payments decrease the cash balance. Instead of increasing or decreasing the balance after every transaction we may put all increases together in one column and all decreases together in another column and find the balance only when required. It will be much convenient and time saving.

In accounting, the device called an account is used for this purpose. The simple form of account is called a T account is shown below. Increases of cash have been listed on the left hand side and the decreases on the right hand side, the closing balance has been ascertained by deducting the total payments from the total of the left-hand side.

Debit and Credit in Accounting

As is clear from the form of account given above it is divided in two parts: Left-hand side is known as ‘debit side’ and right hand side is known as ‘credit side’.

Amounts entered on the debit side (left hand side) are called debits and amounts on the credit side right-hand side) are called credits. ‘To debit’ means to make an entity in the left-hand side of an account’ and ‘To credit’ means to make an entry in the right-hand side of an account.

The words debit and credit have no other meaning in accounting.

Abbreviation used for debit is Dr. and for credit Cr.

Rules of Debit and Credit (Equation Based)

Dual aspect concept in accounting implies that every accounting transaction would be expressed by a debit amount and an equal and opposite credit amount. Thus, the rule that for each transaction debit amount must equal the credit amount has absolutely no exception. The equality of debits and credits may be expressed in the form of an equation:

Debit = Credit

In the previous article we discussed accounting equation:

A-L = P

i.e., Assets-Liabilities = Proprietor’s Funds or Capital

If each account was to be considered in isolation it would make no difference whether increases were recorded on the debit side or on the credit side but since the accounts are inter-dependent therefore a system of recording increases and decreases on the two sides had to be fixed. Traditionally or conventionally increases in asset accounts are recorded on the debit side while increases in liabilities and capital are recorded on the credit side. The above rule ensures that when account balances are totaled will confirm to the accounting equation discussed above.

It gives rise to the following rules: .

1. Increases in asset accounts are debits, decreases are credits.

2. Increases in liability accounts are credits, decreases are debits.

3. Increases in Owner’s equity accounts are credits, decreases are debits.

Total classes of accounts maintained by any business will include the accounts relating to expenses, losses, revenues and profits in addition to assets, liabilities and proprietor’s funds. Rules of debit and credit regarding assets, liabilities and capital have been stated above and the rules for expenses / losses and revenues/ profits can be derived from the same.

4. Increases in expenses/ losses accounts are debits.

Since the expenses and losses when incurred and suffered lead to reduction in the capital and ecreases in owner’s equity accounts are debits, therefore increases in expenses and losses accounts are Debits.

5. Increases in revenues/ profit accounts are credits.

Since the revenues and profits when earned will lead to increase in the capital and increase in owner’s equity accounts are credits, therefore increases in revenue and profits accounts are credits.

The rules of debit and credit discussed above are based on accounting equation technique. Traditional rules of debit and credit are based on classification of accounts. These rules in practice give the same

results and operate in the same manner. These merely stale the position in a different way.

Recently I responded to an email that posed the question, “How well do these affirmations really work?” Below is the response that I sent the person who asked the question. There are a number of important points that will be helpful to others, so I’m reprinting the information. Here it is…

The answer is that it depends on you and how well you apply them. One person can take a single principle outlined in the affirmations and become so inspired that they make millions. Others can listen to all of the affirmations a couple of times and do nothing with them. Sorry I can’t be more definite than that, but that’s the truth.

I think that the better question to ask “are the Power Affirmations are based on sound principles that can lead to success?” The answer is absolutely. Here are some of the primary principles that they are based on:

1. The Power Affirmations are stated in the positive. We become what we think about most of the time–our dominating thoughts.

2. The power of repetition of positive thought and suggestion. Repetition mixed combined with belief and a positive enthusiasm is the fastest way to condition your subconscious mind. The whole adverstising industry is based upon repetition of suggestive thought aimed at getting people to buy their products. Does it work? Just take a look at the trillions of dollars American’s spend each year largely as the result of billions of dollars spent on advertising. Successful business people are not stupid. They spend a lot of money on advertising because they know repetition of thought leads to people taking action to buy their products.

3. These power affirmations are foundational. As you listen to the power affirmations, you will find that there is a natural progression to the thoughts within the sections or (“discs”) and the sections themselves. This is not by accident. I initially created the program for myself with no intention of selling it or even sharing it with others. I went through the books that had the greatest impact on my life and extracted the primary points that I wanted to condition in my mind and translated them into Power Affirmations.

4. The power of multisensory learning. What do I mean by this? We have 5 senses–sight, sound, touch, smell, and taste. The more of the senses you can involve in learning, mixed with repetition and emotion, the faster you will learn. With the Power Affirmation recordings, you have an easy way to involve the senses of sound, sight, and touch (or feeling). Sound is obvious. You can involve the sense of sight by using the power affirmation posters or screen savers. Or just by looking at the list of affirmations in the eBook. Even more powerfully, using your creative vision and imagination. Feeling is involved when you add “physiology”–such moving your body with a feeling of certainty as you listen to or repeat the Power Affirmations. Tony Robins talks a lot about that concept in his books and seminars.

5. These affirmations are general. While there are specific concepts, there is no mention of specific goals or amounts of money, etc. Again this is by design so that anyone can use them. As you get better with using affirmations and more familiar with the language patterns, you will want to create specific Power Affirmations for your own situation–especially setting your Definite Major Purpose or Mission in life. For example, one of my personal power affirmations is related to reaching over 1,000,000 people with my free affirmations eBook and website by March 31, 2008. Or someone may want to target a specific weight amount if they over weight. But you have to learn to walk before you can run–and that’s where these affirmation recordings excel. You have to condition your mind so that your predominating thoughts are of success, health, happiness, prosperity, etc. in order for more specific affirmations to be effective. Then add power affirmations based on specific goals.

6. It’s best to use the affirmations in conjunction with a goal planning system. This is why I include an explanation of my RAP planning system in my eBook. It’s simple, but effective. That’s because you are organizing your plans on a daily basis around specific goals and measuring your progress daily. Even though the explanation of the system is only a few pages, this alone could be worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars to you. Why do I say that? I personally spent years of study and trial and error and thousands of dollars trying to find a way to plan and manage my life and my time. This is the ONLY system I have been able to consistently use (for several years now) to consistently achieve my goals. The key here is that the daily plans are ORGANIZED. While using a “to do” list is better than nothing, it’s generally ineffective and worse leads to stress and overwhelm. If you have any ambition (and obviously you do), if you create a random list of things you have to do and want to do, it will quickly become overwhelming if you don’t find a way to organize it. By the way, the idea for RAP came to me in a flash of inspiration while I was listening to my Power Affirmations.

7. The power of concentration and focus. When you read or listen to an audio recording, most of the information goes by so quickly that you don’t really have an opportunity to savor and meditate on a specific point in order to extract the full value. The recordings help you to focus your thoughts around the key points so that you are able to firmly plant it into your mind to give it the best opportunity to attract similar thoughts. This allows you to take advantage of the law of sowing and reaping–multiplication. This is a law of nature that you can easily see all around you.

For example, if you plant a single seed of corn, nurture it and care for it, eventually, it will bring forth a plant that has multiple ears of corn on it. And each ear of corn has multiple seeds. In fact, from that one seed of corn, not only are you able to grow enough to eat a portion of it, there is also more than enough to plant more seeds next season. Over a number of seasons of seedtime and harvest, that single seed of corn can lead to a whole field of corn (this is why I say super abundance is a law of nature–the multiplicative process of seedtime and harvest). Think of each thought as a seed. As it grows into maturity, it attracts a number of thoughts of a similar nature. Before long, the mind is saturated with these dominating thoughts. This is why it is so important to protect your mind from any kind of negative influence or thought suggestion. The best way to protect yourself is by continuously planting positive thoughts and nurturing them. And learning to recognize negative thoughts and avoiding them.

With agriculture, there is a definite season for seed time and harvest that operates like clockwork. You can’t plant a seed of corn and come back the next day to reap the harvest. The great thing about sowing positive seeds of thought is that there is no set time for the harvest to come. While time is a factor, there are other steps you can take to accelerate your progress–such as concentration.

Well, that’s all that I have time for for now. I’m sure if I thought about it, there’s a lot more I could say. But that’s because this has been my area of focus for a long time–really ever since I first read Think and Grow Rich back in the late 70′s. What is really important is that you get started immediately. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking you have to know everything about affirmations before you will start to receive the benefits. Start with just listening daily and going through the RAP process. RAP will help you measure your personal progress. Be patient. Allow yourself to grow. Remember, seedtime and harvest. The harvest will come soon enough, but only if you sow the seeds and nurture them. It can come faster than you may currently think is possible–it’s all up to you.
