Colleges & Universities Provide the Steps to Higher Learning

Colleges & Universities Provide the Steps to Higher Learning

Colleges and universities are educational institutions that provide knowledge and skills for higher learning. Students who are accepted to colleges and universities are those who have graduated from high school or those who have completed the requirements for a high school diploma equivalent. However, there are some courses in colleges and universities that may require taking courses from preparatory schools before getting accepted. On the other hand, there are also some institutions that will take in only a small percentage of applicants based on a series of tests and qualifications such as art and theater schools.

Colleges and universities are quite similar in meaning and origin, but it was only recently that differences between the two were identified. These include universities defined as educational institutions with more than one college and offering higher education such as graduate programs. Meanwhile, colleges are defined as institutions that offer short courses and two-year course diplomas aside from their four year undergraduate degrees. Some colleges that have crossed-over into the definition of a university have retained their names with the word “college” in them due to historical reasons. This helps them to stay popular with students who are about to consider going to their particular college.

The first university in history was the Shangyang Higher School in China which was established during the Yu period between 2257 and 2208 BC. Other ancient universities originating from different countries include:

Takshashila University in Taxila, Pakistan established in 7th century BC

Nalanda University in Bihar, India which was famous for its center of Buddhist scholarship was established in 5th century BC

Plato’s Academy in Athens 387 BC, the first higher education institution in Europe

University of Salero in Italy 9th century

Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt circa 988

Most of the medieval universities in Europe were established under the guidance of the Catholic Church and were then known as cathedral schools or as “Studia Generali.” These universities were educational institutions which provided education for priests, monks and other students from different parts of Europe during the 12th century.

Most colleges and universities are run by a board of trustees or directors and by a group of school administrators. They are often funded by the government, by donors or by the tuition fees paid by the students who attend them. Most of these schools are located in the local town or within cities that are close to other educational institutions. Students often have to undergo exams and submit requirements before getting accepted especially when applying for scholarships or if they come from other countries.

In the United States, where the first institutions of higher education were University of Oxford & the University of Cambridge, the terms college and university can be used interchangeably even though colleges may often refer to liberal arts colleges or those that offer vocational, business, engineering or technical courses. Both colleges and universities refer to any post-secondary undergraduate education and which are operated as public or private institutions.

How to File For Child Custody and Steps to Filing For Child Custody in Florida

How to File For Child Custody and Steps to Filing For Child Custody in Florida

The best method for anyone seeking a court ruling on child custody is to fill out all of the necessary forms as accurately and completely as possible and work out as many of the details as possible before attending a court hearing.

In all custody determinations, throughout Florida statutes is stated that the court will determine child custody based solely on the best interests of the child. Therefore anyone seeking to gain custody of a child needs to analyze what is in the best interests for the child in order for the case to be successful.

The following steps are designed to help anyone seeking custody of a child in Florida. They are not all inclusive and there may be variations based on unique individual situations.

1. Obtain the correct child custody forms. The forms can be obtained through online databases, document-preparing agencies, attorneys, legal aid, or by contacting the county circuit court in which the custody will take place.

2. Fill out the proper forms. Since there are a variety of reasons to file for child custody in Florida, there are particular forms that need to be filled out and filed in order for the case to proceed successfully.

a). The most common occurrence for a child custody battle is due to divorce. In a divorce, many forms need to be filled out, and part of those forms in Florida is a petition for dissolution of marriage and a Parenting Plan. These in conjunction with several other documents will make the basis for the court’s decision on child custody. A parenting course is also required by Florida law in a divorce situation to help parents learn about the aspects of being a single parent. Parenting courses teach that children need to have the benefit of having two parents involved in their lives. Florida laws seek to manage this idea by attempting to include both parents as much as possible. In fact, Florida law prohibits one parent from keeping the other parent away from their child completely.

b). The next most common issue is for one of the parents to file a petition for paternity. The Petition to Determine Paternity and for Related Relief, Form 12.983(a), is filed with the court to establish legal paternity. In the mother’s case, this document acts as ability to seek support from the father. In the father’s case, this petition acts as a way to establish legal paternity and a time-sharing schedule. In addition to this form, a Child Support Guideline Worksheet, a Parenting Plan, and a Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act (UCCJEA) Affidavit must be submitted. Other forms include a notice of social security number, a financial law affidavit, and a certificate of compliance with mandatory disclosure. After all of these forms have been filed, if paternity is in dispute from either party then a scientific paternity test can be ordered to establish DNA results.

c). The third issue surrounding child custody is when a family member seeks to gain temporary custody of a child. Without parental consent, this petition must outline that the parents have abused, abandoned, or neglected the child or children.

d). Another situation that arises outside of the scope of divorce is separations. Many couples will separate without filing for dissolution of marriage. This separation can leave the parent caring for children in a financial bind. For this reason, a Petition For Support Unconnected With Dissolution of Marriage With Dependent Or Minor Child(ren), Form 12.904(a), was created. The purpose of this petition and its supporting documents is to ask the court to order child support and spousal support while the separation is in effect.

e). If there is already a custody order from the court, then a petitioner will have to file a motion to amend the custody order.

3. File the approved forms with the clerk of the circuit court. Before filing, all forms need to be filled out in black ink or typed and notarized. When filing, the county circuit court will charge a filing fee for each document. If the filing fee cannot be met, an Application for Determination of Civil Indigent Status can be filed and the clerk will determine whether the filer is eligible to have the filing fees waived.

4. Once the petition is filed along with all of the supporting paperwork, the other parent has the opportunity to agree with the original documents or file an answer to contest the paperwork. At this point, it is best to attempt to compromise and work out all custody issues prior to going to a hearing or trial. Normally, if a decision can be reached between the couple and it appears that the agreement is in the best interest of the child, then the court will abide by the agreement.

5. The final step is to go to a hearing or trial. If both involved parties could not reach a compromise then all custody decisions fall to the court. The judge will listen to both sides and determine which party is in the child’s best interest to gain custody. At the close of the case, the judge will issue an order on all custody and child support, and both parents must abide by the judgment.

Best Interests of the Child

How does Florida custody law determine the best interest of the child? The decision is up to the court, but section 61.13(3) contains a list of considerations that become part of the custody decision. First, the court will favor the parent that will allow and encourage a continuing parent-child relationship with the other parent. This includes honoring the time-share schedule and being reasonable to any changes that may occur.

Next, the court will seek to find which parent is more likely to put the needs of the child before their own. Stability and the length of time the child has lived in a particular environment will also play a role in the decision. A child’s life does not need to be severely interrupted because the parents decide to be apart. The Parenting Plan will be evaluated to ensure it is complete and supports schooling of children in public school. Interrupting school time is not considered an option, so the best results will minimize any impact to a child’s schooling.

In most cases a home study and/or a character study will be conducted to determine with parent is more mentally and physically healthy to be a primary guardian. Other factors include moral fitness of both parents, how parental responsibilities will be separated, how involved the parents will be in the child’s social and non-social life, and which parent will provide the most stable routine.

Additionally, if the child is old enough to consult, they will be asked which parent they prefer to live with. Finally, background checks will be done on both parents to determine if any documents or information has been falsified or if either parent has a negative background.

The recommended approach to a Florida child custody case is to hire an attorney, seek legal aid help, or get the help of a document-preparing agency when filling out all of the correct forms. As mentioned above, accurate and in-depth data will aid the custody case and make it easier for all parties to complete the case with the best results possible.

Exterior Painting Tips – 14 Steps to a Better Looking House

Exterior Painting Tips – 14 Steps to a Better Looking House

Exterior painting is one of the most important things you can do to protect the largest investment you probably will make during life. For exterior painting to last, there are requisite steps that must be taken to properly prepare your home’s exterior before applying paint. In addition to the prep work, there are some important application procedures that will serve to deliver a nice looking paint job that you can be proud of.

The first step in preparation for exterior painting is to pressure wash your house using M1 and bleach, making sure flaking paint, dirt, mildew, green algae, wasp nest, and other obstructions are removed. Once washed, scrape any remainder of loose paint off with a sharp scraper and metal brush. Sand any bare wood to prepare it for primer. Be sure and wear some kind of eye protection and then start at the top and work your way down, holding the nozzle about six inches away from the surface and at a 45 degree angle.

If you find mildew still exist after this process, you may need to apply bleach to a rag and scrub these areas. Mildew is attracted to the oil in oil-based paints but will grow on latex paints as well. If mildew is growing on your home, and you can’t seem to eliminate it completely, you may want to add some mildew inhibitor to your paint. However, I will give you a word of caution at this point. Good quality paints already have a safe amount of mildew inhibitors engineered into their formulas. If you add more mildewcide to your paint it can cause your paint to fade prematurely with a lot of exposure to sunlight. Allow all surfaces to dry thoroughly before caulking and priming bare wood.

Exterior painting is significantly improved with proper caulking. When caulking trim to siding, the durability of the caulk joint can be improved by spreading the bead of caulk with your finger. This will improve adhesion. When caulking trim to brick, make sure you use a very narrow bead of caulk but do not spread with your finger, or you will make a mess of the caulk line and have to clean your brick. Just use some common sense when caulking. If you are caulking Hardie Plank, use a top quality elastomeric caulk with a high stretch capacity. Hardie plank expands and contracts more than most caulks can handle.

Inspect all metal surfaces for peeling paint (railings, gutters, etc.). Remove loose paint with a metal brush or power brush. Effective acrylic bonding primers exist on the market today for priming bare metal. If you are painting brick, check for cracks. Caulk cracks before painting.

If masonry is less than five years old it can leach out under a painted coating. If less than five years, then avoid this problem by etching with a solution of muriatic acid (1 part acid to 5 parts water). Be sure and take appropriate precautions. This acid is very caustic. Wear rubber gloves and goggles for protection. Pour the water in a plastic container first, then add the acid. This will help prevent splashing. Scrub this compound into concrete. This solution will neutralize the acid in the concrete. Wash off the solution with fresh water. Your concrete is now etched.

Check your home for any bare wood and prime with a high quality latex primer or a top quality oil base primer. This primer coat is the only coat that bonds directly to the wood, therefore, it needs to be of top quality. A top coat of paint on your home is no better than the first coat that is applied to the wood. If the first coat (primer) fails, then the top coats and primer coat peel off together.

Consider masking around light fixtures, motion sensors, electrical boxes, etc. If you are planning to use a paint sprayer for your siding, then I recommend covering all windows with plastic and tape. This will save you a lot of time in clean up.

In my opinion, as a professional in this industry, where siding joins trim, always cut your trim in to the outer leading edge of the board instead of following the contour of your siding. This produces greater eye appeal from a distance. Where the siding meets the trim is always rounded out with caulk, making it a very poor place to scribe a straight line with your brush.

Avoid time consuming clean up by protecting shrubs, walk ways, roofs, patios, etc with drop cloths. Clean up will cost you much more in time than cover up. When painting exterior surfaces, the do-it-yourselfer has one major consideration, the weather.

Paints have optimum conditions in which they should be applied. It is best not to paint in extreme heat, cold or in the presence of precipitation. Check your paint can label for temperature restrictions.

Painting your siding before painting the trim will save you a lot of cut in time with a brush. If you are planning to stain or paint your decks or patio, then do them last, since you will be working off them during your project. It is best to work from the top down since you will be dripping some paint. Although you need to work from top down, you also should work from side to side as much as possible. This will assist in avoiding a lot of up and down motion on ladders during your exterior painting project.

If you are planning to use a roller to apply paint to lap siding, you will need to back brush to smoothly spread the paint. Roller naps leave a texture to the surface. Be sure and coat the underside edge of each board of lap siding to prevent water absorption from rain.

For stucco, I recommend spraying and dry back rolling to achieve an even distribution of paint. The sprayer applies the paint and the roller simple spreads the paint. Use W strokes with the roller. Avoid dipping the roller in paint as you will be applying to much paint, causing the painted stucco to look uneven. Only allow the paint applied by the sprayer to the stucco to soak into the roller nap.

Cedar shingles with their uneven surface can be painted with a 4″ brush or sprayer. I personally believe you can achieve the best look using a paint sprayer to coat cedar shingles and most other types of siding.

Substandard preparation may save you a little bit of time, but you will pay for it in durability and quality of appearance. It is always best to take your time with the above procedures. They will produce a paint job you will be proud to display.

Easy Steps in Supporting Prevention of Animal Cruelty

Easy Steps in Supporting Prevention of Animal Cruelty

Animal cruelty is a very real crime. Every year, there are several animals that are maltreated. Whether they are household pets like cats and dogs, or wild animals like bears and elephants, these animals are not safe from animal cruelty. However, only a few concerned citizens are aware of this crime. If you want to show your support for preventing animal cruelty, here are some easy steps that you can follow.

Set an Example

Start the change within yourself. If you own an animal, set an example for others by always providing your pet with the proper love and care that it deserves. Always provide fresh water, food and shelter. Be responsible and have your pets neutered or spayed. When your pet is sick or is in need of medical treatment, send him to a veterinarian. It is important that you do not neglect or abuse your pets. Shower it with a dose of tender, loving care.

Encourage Others To Join You

Have others back you up. Otherwise, no one will take you seriously. There are several ways to gain supporters. You can either host rallies or write a petition. You can also campaign online and gather signatures for a petition through the Internet. You can also do it personally, by asking people you meet at a park or rally or in school to sign your petition. All you have to do is print out pages of numbered lines with a heading “Stop Animal Cruelty”, and have people sign it.

Be Against Animal Testing

Animal testing is a form of animal cruelty. Do not buy products that are conducted and tested on animals. Buy or make buttons that clearly state your opposition against animal testing and hand them out to others.

Support Organizations Against Animal Cruelty

There are very many organizations against animal cruelty. These organizations are committed to stopping animal abuse and neglect. Also, they rescue and treat animals that are formerly victims of animal cruelty. You can show your support by being part of these organizations and giving donations that will help in treating thousands of abused animals.

Inform Others

There are many people who are unaware of animal abuse and neglect. Every day, this crime happens and there are any people that are unaware that this is actually taking place. It is very important for you to spread the word. You can do this by handing out pamphlets informing people of what’s really happening and what they can do to stop it.

Report a Crime

Your involvement is very important. If you see an animal being abused or neglected, do something about it. Report to your local humane society, animal shelter, or animal control agency right away. Know who to call when reporting animal cruelty. Take note of important details, such as the type of animal cruelty, persons involved, the date it happened, and where it took place. These will really be of big help to the investigating officer.

Learn Oil Painting – Basic Beginner Steps

Learn Oil Painting – Basic Beginner Steps

Oil paint dries very slowly, Unlike acrylic paints which dry very quickly. Acrylic paint was initially created as an underpainting medium for oil painting.

It is perfectly stable to put a base of acrylic and then place oil paint over it. Linseed oil added to oil paint will extend color, increase flow and increase workability. Oil paint with added medium is called long, oil paint used directly from the tube is called short or stiff.

You place you oil paints on a wooden board called a palette the very best palettes are made of pear wood.

It is very important to understand your paints and know which colors are:

Transparent (see through) Semi Opaque (slightly see through) and opaque (not see through) getting started put as much oil paint on your brush for two strokes three maximum always end your brush stroke on the canvas.

Make sure that you use linseed oil only when you are painting with the wet on wet method or process.

Do not confuse yourself with all of the many other mediums. Wait to discover those when you are more experienced. If you can actually afford the professional paints, definitely go ahead and buy them. You will notice immediately that they are completely different from the student paints.

Always buy the best brushes that you can afford. The Da Vinci brand brushes are the best professional brushes. Buy long handle bushes. The technique is to hold near the end of the handle. When developing talent one point to consider is the ability to take risks. Just play around with your paint however first understand it, only paint at an easel and make sure to stand back from your painting all the time. Never put your expensive brushes in turps when you are working in a session. Go ahead and wipe them clean with paper towels or cloth wash out your brushes in turps or a similar solvent at the end of a session and then be sure to clean immediately with soapy water.

Preparing the canvas the foundation of you piece

It is quite essential that you put on the first underpainting or wash on your canvas. This takes away the glare of the white (which will reflect back at you, quite annoying) and the more layers of paint you get onto your canvas the better and the more professional looking your painting, the more luminous the paint ant the more the painting will sing out with color and texture.

Traditionally an earth color of a burnt umber or raw umber, raw sienna or an ochre was painted on as a good first underpainting. Sometimes it can be pretty exciting to paint on a bright red or dark blue as your first underpainting especially when you are in the habit of putting on three or four layers and seeing the underpainting come through your painting. Use a big wash brush to apply the first underpainting it you use acrylic as your underpaint it will dry quickly and get you started quicker.

How to apply oil paint in two methods

1. Wet on wet or All Prima (in one step)

2. Stage Painting or Glazing Fat over lean

Wet on wet is applied by using the paint stiff, which is directly from the tube Or thinned to the consistency of salad dressing with linseed oil the essential part of painting wet on wet is making your brushes and painting knives do the work for you.

You definitely want to have full control of your brushes and experiment with different brushes to see the marks and texture streaks that they make.

Never work with turps unless you are working with the glazing method.

Never ever stand your brushes in any turps working in your painting session.

Turps will burn the bristles and inevitably there will be some left in the brush when you start to use color.

This will make it difficult to keep control of the flow or thickness of paint. The glazing technique is a process of building up your painting in a series of layers of the thinned paint.

I found this specific method for the glazing technique with oil paint it is called fat over lean

A Lean 1st layer thinned with solvent

A Lean 2nd layer thinned with less solvent

A Lean 3rd layer thinned with less solvent

A Fat 4th layer straight from tube

A Fat 5th layer thinned with little linseed oil

A Fat 6th layer thinned with more linseed oil

It is very essential that you this process exactly follow or the layers of paint will dry at different levels and possibly crack the paint. Granted, it is a slow method and you absolutely need some patience however the results are spectacular tonal values which are essential in painting. This glazing method gives you full control of creating tones in acrylic paint. Here there is no mystery about paint.

Remember that paint is just pigment with a binder. In the case of oil paint, it is just a pigment with a drying oil usually linseed oil is used for this. The very best professional oil paints you will find are Michael Harding and Old Holland. Windsor and Newton and some other makes are good as well just make sure they are called professional paints and not the lesser quality student paints.

One last thing, Oil Paint dries very slowly, have patience and enjoy the journey. Paint on.

7 Steps That Accelerate Goal Achievement

7 Steps That Accelerate Goal Achievement

There are common steps associated with goal achievement. They are:

- Aim high.

- Write your goals down.

- Set a time limit or deadline.

- Identify those people, and organizations that can help you reach your goals.

- Consider multiple facets of your life including family, career, health, etc.

I have often been asked if there is more to the process of goal achievement than these steps. My answer? Yes there is.

While the goal setting process outlined above is quite valuable, and perhaps fundamental, I have found nuances to the goal-setting process, typically not discussed. Here are seven steps that will accelerate your goal achievement.

Step One: Assume Success: It All Begins With The Way You Think

Top achievers think differently. First they conceive, plan, and work on their goals with a level of expectation that is foreign to most people. They do not say, “I’ll try this, and see what happens,” or “This might work, you never know.”

Achievers proceed toward their goals with a level of confidence that cause others to think they have inside knowledge about how to make their goals a reality. It is this level of expectation that gives them the laser focus needed to see possibilities that most do not see. More importantly, they are actually “living,” their goals long before they are achieved.

Step Two: Identify and Focus On Your Primary Goals

Intensifying your focus on a few goals is often easier for those beginning to refine their own goal achievement process. Having just a few goals makes each goal much more real because you cannot get lost in a lengthy list of plans and projects. As you develop more experience and confidence in the goal setting process, you can expand your goal list and potentially work on 10, 20, or 30 or more goals at the same time. However I recommend that most people trim their goal list down to a very manageable group of 7.

Step Three: Examine And Clarify Your Beliefs and Values

A big obstacle for many seeking accelerated goal achievement is being out of sync with their goals. That is, many “say,” they want to achieve certain things but do not really believe in their ability to achieve their goals or totally value their goals. As a result they unconsciously minimize their ability to achieve their stated intentions. To reach you goals fast you have to be sure that your goals really reflect your true beliefs and values. After setting your goals, be honest with yourself about whether these are really your beliefs and commitments.

Step Four: Immerse Yourself In The Process Daily

This is an important step that many goal setters are unaware of. Top achievers “live” their goals. Many unconsciously work with their goals every day. It’s a good idea for you to take this approach consciously. I believe strongly in working with my goals twice a day at minimum, once in the morning, and once in the evening.

I have spiral notebook in which I write my goals. In that notebook I have also developed my “Statement of Achievement.” This statement opens my goal list and closes my goal list. It sets the tone for the goals to follow. I recommend that you write your own, Statement of Achievement and that you write your statement and your list of goals twice a day. Sometimes you’ll want to even go back more and recite the statement as it occurs to you during the day.

Step Five: Recognize and Act On Your Intuition

Balancing your internal process with your external process is step five of my accelerated goal achievement process. First you want to become sensitive to the ideas and solutions that are presented to you thousands of times daily.

You are always receiving ideas, insights, and greater details that pertain to your goals throughout the day. Once you decide to really focus on your goal setting and achievement this will become more noticeable. It’s important that you capture this information. Carry a journal with you and write down the sparks of insight you receive throughout the day. These are the quickest paths to your goals. When you take action on these items you will be led into circumstances that will, in turn, set you on a direct path to your goal.

Step Six: Overcome Your Resistance

We all tend to hesitate, re-consider, and even procrastinate. We have impulses that we ignore. There are actions we won’t take. We don’t make calls. We don’t write letters. We don’t send emails. Sometimes others will offer ideas and suggestions, but we don’t want to be counseled or coached. There are so many examples of how we resist achieving our own goals. You must become conscious of your resistance and learn to breakthrough this resistance.

Step Seven: Establish Positive Triggers

You can and should train yourself to remain focused on your goals and your ability to achieve them by establishing psychological triggers that bring you to the right focus and state of accomplishment quickly. Pyschological triggers include words that quickly bring you back to your aim, images representing the successful accomplishment of your goals, and even music that affects you emotionally and gives you the feeling of success and accomplishment.

Achieving your goals requires the right thinking and the right actions, sometimes for an extended period of time. However, these tips will help you develop a winning strategy that will keep your progress steady and pointed in the right direction.

Easy Home Security Steps to Help Protect Your Home and Family

Easy Home Security Steps to Help Protect Your Home and Family

The current economic crisis has affected almost everyone in the country. However, the crisis has not only reduced the amount of income you may expect, but has created an increased crime rate that seems to be nationwide. Home invasion and burglary have always been a problem, but they are increasingly prevalent in today’s world. How can you keep your home safe from this threat? What can you do to protect your family from the threat of home invasion? Here, you will find a few simple steps that you can take to help reduce that chance that your home will be targeted by a burglar.

Yard Signs and Window Decals – Studies have shown that homes with yard signs and window decals provided by a security company such as ADT enjoy a tremendous amount of safety from home invasion. Burglars seeing a yard sign declaring that the property is protected by a home security system will usually go in search of an easier target. Thieves do not want to be caught – it defeats the purpose of their profession. Therefore, they will target homes that have the least amount of protection, rather than risk being caught breaking into a home with security.

Yard signs and window decals can be used even if you do not have a security system. However, you must ensure that they are highly visible from the road and that they remain in good condition. For instance, place a yard sign in the front yard near the edge of the road to warn any prowling thieves that your home is not an easy target. Place window decals in the lower floor windows in prominent locations. You must also ensure that you replace these before they become worn and faded. A faded yard sign can indicate a lack of protection to a thief.

Yard Maintenance and Care – The state of your yard has a lot to do with how susceptible your home is to invasion. For instance, a thief is much more likely to target a home with large overgrown shrubs around the base of the home than they are a home that has neat bushes and is well maintained. Caring for your yard is an excellent way to reduce the amount of cover a potential burglar will have.

Make sure that any bushes around your home are kept neat and trimmed at all times. In addition, consider transplanting any shrubs growing at the base of the home to another location in the yard. Setting Up a Corporation – Simple Steps

Setting Up a Corporation – Simple Steps

A corporation is a legal entity that separates the persons owning or operating a business from the actual business itself. They are set up to protect individuals from a range of possible damages and obligations that might occur as a result of doing business. Unlike other forms of business registration the owners of a corporation have no responsibility for the debts of the business and their liability is limited to the number of shares that they hold in that corporation.

Corporation law has been around for a long time and the oldest corporation in the United States is the Harvard Corporation which was established in 1650 to look after the business affairs of Harvard University. The act of incorporation is the basic of all corporation law and in addition to provided limited liability for owners and shareholders this type of business registration is very common for all large and medium sized companies in the Unites States.

Along with the provision of limited liability corporation law also sets out a series of standards and regulations that corporations must adhere to in order to maintain their incorporated status. They include having a board of directors that is responsible for the operation and governance of the corporation in accordance with the state in which it is incorporated. Shareholders of the corporation elect the board of directors and the board then assume what is called the fiduciary responsible to put the interests of the corporation first in all decisions and deliberations.

Most corporations have a Chief Executive Officer or President who is the spokesperson for the corporation in all public matters and a treasurer who is responsible for maintaining the good financial health of the organization. Other officer positions may be created by the corporation as provided for under the applicable corporation law.

Corporations are created by filing articles of incorporation with the government and these articles contain information about the general intent of the corporation, the number of shares that the corporation intends to issue and the addresses and names of corporate directors. After approval by the regulatory body the board of directors of the corporation meets to create the bylaws of the corporation and proceed to open for business.

There are fees associated with incorporating a business and legal and tax advice is almost a prerequisite to filing for incorporation, but the separation of personal and legal liability is a very attractive asset to incorporation and most businesses are quite willing to pay these small costs to protect the individual interests of its shareholders.

7 Steps to Creating Abundant Prosperity in Any Market

7 Steps to Creating Abundant Prosperity in Any Market

With the financial markets in a state of unpredictability, and with the credit markets extraordinarily tight, many luxury services are cutting back and some of these businesses are shutting down altogether.

This is certainly true for the interior design business.

But Tish Mills of Harmonious Living, a nationally recognized interior design firm, is not cutting back. In fact, she’s busier that she’s ever been, and she’s using her connection to Divine Guidance, her intuition, to make it happen.

I spoke with Ms. Mills on a Blog Talk Radio show recently about how she’s creating this success against all the odds.

While Ms. Mills is capable, credentialed, competent and talented, she credits part of her success in today’s market to the strong connection she has with Divine Guidance, her intuition, and the many Divine practices she embraces every day.

Following is a general recap of our discussion.

Know the Outcome Before It Happens and Believe in It

“The number one thing I do that has made all the difference in my successes is that I know there is no other possible outcome than for me to be successful. There’s simply no other option for me.”

Van Rossum: “How did you learn to trust that you were on the right path?”

Mills: “Oftentimes by not trusting Divine Guidance and experiencing the fallout of that. Eventually it was harder not to trust than it was to just trust it and flow with it.”

TruAwareness

Mills: “I use TruAwareness from “All You’ve Ever Known” every day to help me to stay focused, move beyond my fears and to help me to grow and change in the ways that I need to. It helps me to accomplish what I want more easily and gracefully.”

Van Rossum: “Are there other times when you use it as well?”

Mills: “I use it everyday to open and sharpen my intuition, but also if I wake up in the middle of the night knowing there’s something I need to see more clearly, TruAwareness really helps to bring it forward for me.”

Pay Attention to the Signs

Van Rossum: “I think that’s just one of the things that you do so well. You pay such close attention to all the Divine and intuitive signs that drift through your day and night and you honor them for the helpful Guidance that they are.

Those messages that come through in the middle of the night or the seemingly random thoughts that float through our minds during the day – I call those moments Divine email.

Many people think those thoughts are distractions, but they’re Divine messages that come to us in the ways that they can.

When I receive those messages, sometimes I don’t have the bandwidth to sit with them in the moment that they come through, so I’ll write it down and meditate with it later. It’s really amazing the information and Guidance that unfolds.”

Mills: “You know, sometimes I’ll be working and a name will just pop in my head. Rather than discounting it I’ll write it down because I know I’m meant to connect with that person in some way. When I meet with them later, it’s a meeting that always proves to be really helpful in some way.”

Honor Your Life Purpose

Van Rossum: “How long have you been interested in design?”

Mills: “Well, all of my life.”

Van Rossum: “But you began your career in corporate america. How did you start there and how did you make the transition?”

Mills: “My family was into real estate development so I grew up in that world. At age 9 I designed my first space and I knew that’s what I wanted to do, but I was discouraged from going into interior design. My parents didn’t want me to tread into the emotional land mines that are so often a part of the interior design process. It’s a deeply personal process for so many people.”

Van Rossum: “But you found your way into interior design anyway. How did you know this was your purpose?”

Mills: “It was an interest that wouldn’t let go. I resisted it and pushed it away for a long time and then I finally gave into it and began to follow it full time and as a result the phone began to ring immediately with jobs for me.”

Van Rossum: “That’s a beautiful story. You know, so many people are searching for their purpose but they can’t quite figure out what it is. There’s the old adage that your purpose is whatever you would do in the world for free. But too many get stuck in the ‘I don’t know’ of the searching process and they stay there. I encourage them to make it their intention to know their purpose. From there the Guidance can flow. When you stay in the ‘I don’t know’ of any quest, you’re resisting.

Do you think you’d be as prosperous and happy as you are today if you hadn’t honored your life purpose?”

Mills: “No, definitely not. I’d be spending all of my time feeling miserable and somehow punishing myself for how unhappy I was.”

Van Rossum: “So you think that embracing your life purpose has an affect on your prosperity?”

Mills: “I do.”

Van Rossum: “I do as well. I see a direct connection to the flow of prosperity in someone’s life and whether they’re embracing their life purpose or not.”

Practice Affirmations & Visualizations

Van Rossum: “From a perspective of connecting with Divine Guidance, what else do you do to nurture along your prosperity?”

Mills: ” Well, I visualize everything. Literally, everything. I’m very clear on what I want everything in my life to look like, feel like, and turn out.”

Van Rossum: “So, this is more than just a moment of visualizing how you want the deal to turn out, isn’t it?”

Mills: “Much more, definitely.

Mills: I’m also deliberate about practicing affirmations every day for every area of my life.”

Using the Pendulum

Mills: I also use the pendulum to help move energy and clear the way for me in different situations.”

Van Rossum: “I think you learned about the pendulum from the same gentleman that I did, Raymon Grace. He’s a wonderful man and quite a healer.

Mills: “Absolutely!”

Honor Your Intuition

Van Rossum: “You obviously have a strong connection to your Divine Guidance, have you always been this intuitive?”

Mills: “Well, early on I don’t think I gave myself permission to be intuitive. For most of us I think it’s something you have to learn to trust.”

Van Rossum: “How did you learn to trust your intuition?”

Mills: “It’s taken me all of my life to get here. I spent a lot of time pushing it away and trying not to open up to it. But then I realized that life would have been a lot easier for me if I had been listening to that little voice rather than ignoring it.

You know, you learn to honor it by not honoring it and getting the proverbial two by four between the eyes as a result. One of the things you taught me was to be gentle with myself in those moments, and not to beat myself up about the times when I missed it.”

Van Rossum: “And then the next time around – by golly, honor your intuition!”

Mills: “Yea, you bet.”

Van Rossum: “We get so many signs in the form of feelings, dreams, thoughts, songs, words, but we ignore them because we’re not used to relying on that part of ourselves, that connection we have to the Divine. It takes some time to understand it.”

Van Rossum: “You’ve had opportunities in your personal life where you could have ignored certain intuitive hits you received, but you chose to pay attention to them and embrace them. Even though that meant there would be a lot of change in your life as a result. Do you think you would be as prosperous today if you had chosen to ignore your intuition in that moment?

Mills: “No, no way. I would be so extremely unhappy today and not nearly as prosperous if I hadn’t paid attention to what I was sensing then. But I did and now I’m on a prosperous and happy path, even though it meant I had to go through a lot of change to get here. I’m happy that I am where I am.”
