The Shocking Truth About Mesothelioma & Asbestos – Men in Big Danger by Not Following H&S Guidelines

The Shocking Truth About Mesothelioma & Asbestos – Men in Big Danger by Not Following H&S Guidelines

All he wanted was to earn more money for his family. To be able to provide a holiday abroad somewhere in the summer and be able to have extra money to do home improvements. He had heard that there was good money to be made in removing asbestos from old buildings. Yes he knew it was dangerous, but today in 2008 the health & safety equipment and training more than compensated for the risk involved.

High measures have been put in place for the specific training to remove asbestos and the protective safety clothing was fool-proof. There was no way anyone could be in danger of contracting mesothelioma, asbestos related lung cancer with all this in place. Or that is what he thought…

Stephen, my husband, went against my wishes and pleas not to go into the asbestos industry. He was adamant that it was 100% safe and it would bring in good money.

He paid to have a medical at the local hospital. He then paid to go onto the week intensive asbestos training course. He then paid for the health & safety equipment/protective clothing. Altogether he forked out £1,000 in preparation to go into the asbestos industry.

The Shocking Truth

Within his first week of working for Company X, he was shocked and appalled at what he was seeing. You see, one of the main components when removing asbestos is that you spray the asbestos with a water-based chemical. This in turn softens the millions of asbestos molecules and thus will not be released into the air and consequently inhaled by the operative while wearing the protective mask.

However, this is what he learned on his H&S training, but this was not being put into practice. What he saw, with this particular company, was that in order to save time and money they were not spraying the asbestos. This meant that when snapping the asbestos into pieces, the millions of asbestos molecules were flying all around within the atmosphere. Yes they were all wearing their protective masks with clean air-flow, but the masks were overwhelmed by the millions of asbestos making them worthless.

The dry asbestos was being breathed in by the men, into their full-headed cover masks and being inhaled right down into their lungs.

Needless to say that Stephen started looking for another job and within a few weeks he was out of the asbestos industry before it was too late for him.

Now I am not saying that all asbestos operatives do not follow the H&S guidelines, but this company certainly didn’t and I bet there are many more across the world who do the same. Just be aware of this one lapse of health & safety which could still lead you to contracting mesothelioma, asbestos related disease – even if you are wearing the full protective equipment.

Beware of one safety technique that is not being carried by some companies / operatives when removing asbestos. The lack of this one single technique is putting hundreds of men’s lives in danger of contracting mesothelioma, asbestos related lung cancer disease.

What you are about to read will probably shock and upset you. I know this first hand as my husband briefly worked in the asbestos removal industry. What he saw socked him and he consequently quit working with asbestos because he wants to see his two young boys grow up.

Affirmations are simply positive, or affirmative, statements of truth. The tricky part is that the truth of the affirmation need not be a “present reality;” it can be a future reality you truly wish to create. By declaring this future reality in positive, definite terms, you are tasking your conscious and unconscious mind with finding this new reality. It is important to consider that, when your prayer is answered, it will be now; so, the proper way to “declare a thing” and make it so is to offer thanks NOW – in this moment – for your desired reality as if it had already happened. Your emotional guidance system will seek to recreate the experience of being happy for having achieved this particular goal; and it is likely to do it by bringing that goal to fruition.

Life is a continuous series of changing circumstances. Our thoughts help us make sense of this ever-changing landscape; and they help guide us from one event to another along this path to future “now’s.” Along the way to your future, you are continuously asked to offer thought as a way of generating your future realities. Change happens with or without your input; but you can create affirmative change with affirmative thought. Consider the following words from two great teachers of this path of positive thought and affirmative action:

“Be the change you seek to create in the world.” – Gandhi

“Do unto others what you would have them do unto you.” – Jesus

“Declare a thing and it is so.” – Jesus

“As a man thinketh, so is he.” – Jesus

“Our thoughts become our words as they become our beliefs; our beliefs become our actions as they become our habits. Our habits become our values as our values become our destiny.” – Gandhi

“Whatsoever you desire, when you stand in prayer – believing – will be given unto you.” – Jesus

Believing in a thing is affirming it – it makes it firm, or physical. As you think about a thing which has sparked your interest or curiosity, or which has become desirable to you, your thoughts will naturally want to return there. As you think of a new thing, you will begin to notice that new thing in your world where you haven’t noticed it before. You will also begin to look in new places, read new books and magazines, and perhaps begin doing research or study in this new area of thought. As you give more attention and thought-energy to these ideas, you will develop mental imagery and additional ideas.

The imagery and new ideas you experience, while giving thought to your new desire, will make you feel a certain way. If the feelings are positive, your desire will grow; if your feelings are negative the desire may also grow, but it will likely grow into that which you are afraid of. If your thoughts are positive, and they excite you, you will probably begin speaking about them, as we think and talk about those things which most interest us. These thoughts and words will then stimulate actions and behaviors. Affirmative thoughts inspire affirmative action. Inspired action seems to be effortless and always creates positive change and new realities.

Just imagine that you are programming a computer; you wouldn’t tell the computer all the things you don’t want it to do. You simply tell the computer – in a language it understands – what you want it to do; and then you tell it to do it. Your mind and body operate in much the same way; so, your self-talk – which is actually a type of self-programming – should always be affirmations of what you want to happen. Your programs should always be positive, affirmative, direct, and specific; but you should keep in mind that this is a process – and part of the process is exercising patience and a peaceful countenance. You may not master this immediately; so relax, and be of good cheer.

By thinking and speaking affirmative words, we can generate an affirmative mood, or disposition; an affirmative disposition is one which is free from stress. This state of mind and body is a healing state. Positive thoughts do not stress us out; that’s because they do not cause or stimulate the release of the harmful stress hormones which we experience as “bad feelings.” The way we phrase our words and intentions has a lot to do with the way our subconscious hears, interprets, and acts on those thoughts we hold so important that we took the time and energy to turn them into words. When you turn a desire into words, it is one step closer to becoming a physical reality.

Imagine that you are ordering dinner and you tell the waitress what NOT to bring you. Do you know what you will get for dinner? Some people say that affirmations are not useful or effective because they affirm the lack of the thing you are affirming. In these cases, semantics are everything; re-framing your negative desires into positive affirmations may take some time and thought, but it is worth it. A declaration of what you do not want is really a “negation,” and not an “affirmation.”

By saying, “I don’t want to be sick,” or “God, please take away my illness,” you are focusing on the fact that you are sick, or have an illness; and you are trying to negate it by thinking about it. This does not work. Though you may heal; it will be through natural processes that you could have sped up with an affirmation instead of slowing down with a negation. “Thank you, God, for giving me this wonderful health and strength so I can go for a walk!” is a much better prayer for restoring health and wellness than those listed above.

To create health, wellness, happiness, success, and prosperity, in all areas of your life, begin thinking positively and affirmatively. Think creatively and optimistically if you wish to create a new reality. Express gratitude in your affirmations; and try to feel the feeling of gratitude in your heart as you imagine the happy, new reality you wish to create. Continue to affirm only those things you wish to experience in your life, body, and experience. Below are a few examples of affirmative prayers for health, prosperity, etc; they will give you an idea of how effective thinkers effectively create using effective, affirmative thought. Affirmations need only contain gratitude, joy, and a positive intention.

Try generating a new attitude in the areas where you have problems or suffering. Consider re-framing your focus on the most positive statement you could make about the conditions you wish to experience. “A man must first assume those characteristics he wishes to possess.” Some people say, “Fake it until you make it;” but repeating affirmations will help you choose a more positive track for your thoughts. Try some of the following affirmative thoughts and see how they feel to you; say them out loud and hear how they make you feel:

If you are ill and thinking, “God I feel miserable!” try thinking:

Health – “Thank you, God, for giving me health and strength so that I might live fully and be a model of health and joy to others. Thank you for giving me the strength, courage, and willingness, to do the things that enrich and empower me…”

If you are in turmoil and chaos and thinking, “I’m going to kill someone if these people don’t get off my back!” or “I don’t know what to do! I’m so afraid and worried…” try thinking:

Peace – “Thank you, God, for giving me peace. Thank you for giving me faith and trust and for quieting my mind so that I might rest and hear more clearly your will…”

If you are experiencing relationship problems, instead of thinking, “God I am married to such a _________!!! I can’t stand this anymore!” try thinking:

Relationships – “Thank you, God, for giving me the love and wisdom to see you in all your creation and to love all creation and all living things unconditionally. Love and harmony are alive and well in all my relationships.”

If you are experiencing weight issues and you hate what you see in the mirror, try thinking:

Weight Loss – “I am happy and peaceful here and now. I am safe and loved and create my own peace, security, and nourishment from the power from within me. I am free; and I release the past and others to be free now.”

If you are having financial difficulties, instead of thinking about debt, or a pile of bills, try thinking:

Prosperity – “My good returns to me now in an avalanche of abundance; thank you, God, for prospering me in all my ways. Only good comes to me; and there is always more than enough to share.”

If you can’t seem to make things work out, and you’re thinking, “Why can’t I ever catch a break?” try thinking:

Success – “Thank you, God, for growing my good thoughts now. I give thanks for the wonderful insights and ideas which I have been given and are now coming to light. Thank you for all things going my way, favoring me with your blessings, and for benefiting all as your grace now benefits me. “

“It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen.”

The Truth About Personal Self Defense Weapons

The Truth About Personal Self Defense Weapons

Sorry I haven’t written anything for a while folks, but these days it seems like there’s more on my to-do-list then there is time to do them. In fact, my daily travels are what inspired me to sit down and write this letter today.

It seems like everywhere I go these days, I get asked the same questions about self defense weapons. Are they legal? Should I carry one? Do they really work? (And assuming they really do work for self defense)… How do I know which one is really going to work for me?

The truth is, there really is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. It’s a personal question, which has a personal answer for each individual. So I’m going to do what I can to help clear some of the fog on this topic, and we’ll start with a simple definition for the term “self defense weapon”.

Self-defense: The act of defending one’s person or interests from harm by the use of physical force or argument.

Weapon: Any instrument or device used to inflict harm on another, either for attack or defense.

So for the purpose of this article, we’ll consider a self defense weapon to be any instrument or device used to defend yourself from physical harm or attack… Simple enough.

Personal defense weapons come in many shapes and sizes. In fact, just about anything you use to defend yourself could be considered a self defense weapon. So rather than creating a list of self defense weapons (which is practically endless), I’ll just go over some of the concepts that are common for all of these devices.

First let’s talk about what a self defense weapon is NOT…

A self defense weapon is NOT an animate object with a mind of its own. In other words, it doesn’t think for itself, and it doesn’t sit there coiled up, waiting for the opportunity to strike at someone. A self defense weapon is a tool, no more. And being a tool, what it does depends entirely on what you do with it. A weapon can be very useful for keeping you safe. However, you’ve got to remember a few certain things…

1. A SELF DEFENSE WEAPON IS NOT MAGIC.

Once you have a weapon, it doesn’t mean you’re automatically safe. So, don’t go walking into a bad section of town, in the middle of the night, carrying a big handful of money. And don’t flip off the local gang leader just because you have a weapon in your pocket

2. YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO USE YOUR SELF DEFENSE WEAPON.

And even more important, you need to have confidence in your ability to use it. Just having a weapon doesn’t mean it’ll be any help at all. This is actually a big problem among the uninformed; Military and law enforcement research confirms that people who lack confidence in a technique or device will not resort to it in a stressful situation.

Many people have been seriously hurt in violent encounters with a personal self defense weapon right in their hand. In the stress of the moment, they didn’t think to use it or doubted its’ ability to impact the situation. Perhaps they were afraid that it would only make matters worse.

So if you’re thinking of carrying a personal self defense weapon, make sure you’re prepared to learn how to use it. And practice to become skillful with it. You also need to be prepared to use the device aggressively on a predator, to protect yourself. Never carry a Personal Safety Weapon with the intent to “bluff” your assailant. This is one sure way to have your weapon taken away and used against you. So if you are not prepared to use it decisively, don’t carry it!

3. WEAPONS DON’T WORK IF YOU AREN’T HOLDING THEM.

You’ve got to keep your eyes open and pay attention, and you need to know how to carry and use your weapon of choice, cause if you don’t, you may not get a chance to use it. A gun doesn’t help if it’s still in its holster, and a pepper spray or a stun gun isn’t too useful if it’s still in the bottom of your purse or in the kitchen drawer at home when you get attacked. So when you carry a weapon for self defense, make sure you can get to it quickly if the need arises.

People seldom leave their homes thinking, “Gee, I think I’ll go out and fend off a mugger, or a rapist today!” What happens to most self defense weapons is the novelty wears off and they’re quickly forgotten, then they find their way to the bottom of a purse, the glove box of your car, or the back of a kitchen drawer. They won’t do you much good there! So ask yourself, is the device you are considering something practical enough to carry with you all of the time.

4. NOTHING WORKS 100% OF THE TIME.

Over-inflated claims and quick-fix promises are everywhere in the self-defense business. Many gadget salespeople and wannabe self-defense experts exaggerate the benefits and capabilities of their systems and products.

You need to understand, and acknowledge the limitations of a self defense weapon, and have a back-up plan. Keep in mind that nothing is ever 100% effective all the time. Even a gun is only 99% effective. Sometimes people get shot, but they still don’t go down. Yet, I don’t know anyone who would say a gun isn’t effective.

So knowing that nothing works 100% of the time means no matter what self defense weapon you decide to carry, you should still have a back up plan for defending yourself… just in case

5. THERE ARE LAWS ABOUT WEAPONS…

Lots of laws. Starting primarily with laws about guns, the use of guns, carrying a gun, etc. but there are also laws about stun guns, pepper spray, knives, batons, etc. Mostly having to do with when weapons may be used, and under what circumstances.

Do what you can to learn the laws about weapons in your area, but more importantly, use a bit of common sense. Pulling a gun on a guy because he cut you off in traffic is a no-no, and shooting someone in the face with pepper spray because they took the last donut at the meeting is not using good judgment. So when learning to use your self defense weapon, also learn the laws regarding the weapon, and when you can and can’t use it legally.

So there you have it, a few basic truths about self defense weapons.

I could go on for another half hour about personal defense weapons, and never run out of things to say, but this article has already passed the one thousand-word mark, so I’ll end it here. The bottom line is, if you’re going to carry a weapon for self defense, make sure you know how to use it, and are prepared to use if the need arises.

Until next time, Stay safe and stay alive.

Crime and the Media – Where is the Truth?

Crime and the Media – Where is the Truth?

The media and crime have an interesting relationship. These days, it’s hard to turn on the news without hearing about some crime happening somewhere. In fact, there are even reporters assigned to cover certain courts or police departments to report on the latest crimes. It is well known that the publicity surrounding certain crimes or court cases can even spur a rash of “copycat crimes.” In addition to crimes that are reported on in the news and in the paper, there are also plenty of TV shows about crimes. From the TV show “COPS” to the investigative drama series “CSI,” it’s clear that crime makes for entertaining TV. Do we actually love violence? If the media is any indication, we do!

If you watch the news, you’ve probably noticed that crimes are happening everywhere, in every city. Sensational headlines make for good TV and sell thousands of newspapers, but is so much coverage of crimes on TV serving to desensitize us to the truth, so that we no longer question why crimes are occurring all around us and have come to believe that it’s just part of normal daily life?

Is the violence on TV just harmless entertainment? That question remains controversial. Some psychologists even think that such shows are playing a role in increasing violence in the real world. Not only are there copycat crimes influenced by what is shown, but more and more people are watching violence and crime on TV and become to think of it as normal and commonplace. There are currently many studies being done on whether exposure to media violence, whether it’s the nightly news or a violent video game, can increase aggression and violence in young people.

Whether you watch the nightly news show, or sit down to watch a crime-scene drama, you aren’t getting a realistic picture of how crimes occur. All too often, these shows highlight what’s been done to catch the bad guy. If all of your knowledge of crime comes from the media, you might believe that perpetrators of every crime are quickly caught using high-tech DNA testing and other technologies, but this is far from the case. In fact, if you are attacked on the street and there are no leads, there is a good possibility that the perpetrator will never be caught. That’s something that no TV show will ever tell you. Never do you see the stress and anxiety faced by the victims of these crimes for months, years, and even a lifetime following a violent crime.

No matter its exact effect, it is doubtless that crime in the media affects our mindset. Consider the college student carrying pepper spray after listening to a news clip about a recent rash of crime on campus, or the housewife who avoids shopping alone at night because of a recent string of carjackings. This response is certainly understandable. The media constantly publicizes the “bad” news of the day, making it seems as if crime is on the rise across the board. Whether this is true or not, it certainly serves as a powerful reminder that crime does exist, and that we must be prepared for it, lest we become the next victim mourned on the local news.

There is little doubt that using affirmations can help you develop a mindset that can help you achieve limitless wealth, success and self fulfillment. Most people when they use affirmations simply use positive affirmations and while they are effective, there are a number of things that you can do to make your use of affirmation far more effective.

1. Record your own affirmations. Commercial recordings work very well but, affirmations recorded in your own voice are more effective. While commercial recordings use a generic voice, it has been scientifically proven that your subconscious mind is far more sensitive to the sound of your own voice. When your subconscious mind hears your voice, it is far more likely to accept the affirmation and embed it permanently in your memory than the generic voice on a commercial recording.

2. Write your own affirmations. Commercial audios, by nature, design their affirmations for the widest possible audience. While this may help, if you write your own affirmations, they will specifically address the areas that you need to work on. In addition, your subconscious mind is also more sensitive to your style of writing and speaking and will therefore accept the affirmation much more readily.

3. Record your affirmations with a musical background. Famed super learning researcher Georgi Lorzanov discovered that the mind will achieve a super learning state when you play certain types of music while listening to your affirmations. Play Mozart, Bach or possibly an entrainment audio and the mind will settle into the Alpha State and be much more receptive to new knowledge or affirmations. The scientific name for this is the “Mozart Effect.” This is also the reason that they recommend that you play classical music while your child is very young. Children who listen to classical music up to the age of five, typically develop a much higher IQ.

4. Use the Lorzanov pattern to listen to your affirmations. Lorzanov also discovered that a specific repetitive pattern was more effective in creating a super learning state. Repeat your affirmations 3 times with a 6 second interval and the effect of the affirmations will be much stronger.

5. Don’t just use positive affirmations. While positive affirmations are very effective, they are only part of the story. The human mind is a steel trap. Once you have learned something, you will never forget it. If you learned a self limiting belief when you were young, you will remember it for life. For this reason, you should use clearing affirmations. What you are trying to do is correct the old false belief with a corrected version of that belief. For example, you may have heard as a child that rich people are greedy. To try to correct this false belief, you might try a corrective affirmation like this: people say that rich people are greedy but, the truth is that the truly wealthy are the most charitable people in the world. This way the old self limiting thought pattern has been replaced with a corrected version which will not limit your financial growth.

Affirmations are incredibly effective in creating a wealth mindset and these few little steps will make them much more effective. Affirmations are far more than just positive thinking.

The Truth About Network Marketing – From One Sceptic to Another

The Truth About Network Marketing – From One Sceptic to Another

What is Network Marketing

Network Marketing is often called Direct Selling, Affiliate Marketing, or Multi-Level-Marketing(MLM). It is an honest, viable business structure. It is designed to build a marketing and sales force by compensating not only sales made by the individual but also the sales made by the people that individual has introduced to the company. This structure effectively moves the task of building and supporting a sales force away from the company and onto the individual. The company benefits from this because it can focus on the product instead of building a sales force and the individual benefits because it can hire others and make overrides on their efforts in addition to their own. A company can use the structure to create a sales force quicker and easier than traditional means. That may be critical to the company’s success, particularly if the company has a new hot product.

What Network Marketing Is Not

Network Marketing is not a pyramid scheme. It is not a scam. A pyramid scheme is illegal, Network Marketing is not. A pyramid scheme is a business setup where the primary and many times the only way to be compensated is to recruit others into the business. In a pyramid scheme, there is essentially no product. Instead you simply sell “nothing” to others in order to get them to join. While con artists will attempt to use the structure as a guise for their pyramid schemes, it doesn’t mean all companies that use Network Marketing as a sales structure are themselves a pyramid scheme. In fact, it is fast becoming a recognized structure among business leaders today, including Donald Trump. It has also been used in part by respected companies such as PayPal, AT&T Wireless, Wachovia, and Vonage. It is also not a get rich quick scheme. As with any business, no matter the structure they choose to employ, you have to work to be paid. The same is true of Network Marketing. However, even though it doesn’t offer instant riches, it does offer some unique advantages over traditional employment opportunities.

Why Network Marketing

Network Marketing is a not a get rich program but instead a real business opportunity and one that requires real work. That being said, the unique advantages offered by Network Marketing are incredible compared with what’s available in the traditional job market. First, you get to set your own hours. You are effectively your own boss. So if you do not feel like working one day then you do not have to. Of course it goes without saying that just because you can doesn’t mean you should. But it is nice to know that you could if you wanted to. Another way to look at setting your own hours means that you can literally work as much as you want. You set your business hours and can operate whenever you want. This provides the potential to increase your earnings simply by working harder.

The second great benefit is the ability to work from home. We all hear about the work-from-home scams that are posted on those little signs on telephone poles along the roads. Well, unlike most other work-from-home offers, it truly allows you to work from home, provided you have the bare essentials to do business. By bare essentials, I mean a phone line and a computer if you need one. But you should consider that while working from home sounds great, it does require a certain level of self discipline to keep focused and get some work done.

Finally, the single greatest thing is the truly amazing opportunity that exists when they first begin. Imagine being there when Bill Gates decided to start Microsoft or when Google was first starting up and actually having a chance to join. Network Marketing provides that same kind of opportunity. Of course joining a Network Marketing company can be beneficial at any time but it is exponentially true when the company is just starting out. The expression of get in on the ground floor has a certain truth to it when regarding Network Marketing companies. This is mostly due to the fact that the earlier you get in, the more people you will have under you. That isn’t to say that you shouldn’t join a company that is well-established and been around for a while. For example, Mary Kay is still a viable business and you can make some money in that company. However, you have to consider that to get into the company you will be going underneath someone and that person is underneath someone else and so on. Imagine being that first person way up the chain that has thousands of people below them. That is the opportunity that exists by getting in early with a company.

Examples of Network Marketing Gone Wrong

Networking Marketing companies, like any other business out there, can be fraudulent, unethical, and in certain cases just plain scams. However, when a single business is caught in a scam, say an investment banker, it looks bad for the investment banker but not necessarily for investment banking as a whole. The same is not true of Network Marketing. When one Network Marketing company is caught in a scam people take the assumption that this one bad company represents all Network Marketing. We have all heard of people getting scammed by Network Marketing companies that go out of business, never end up paying out, or simply prove too hard to make a profit in. I’d rather not point fingers but a certain MLM comes to mind. This particular company recently boasted in a national magazine that they had sales of over $2 billion dollars a year. Right below this they said they had over 1 million distributors. For those who can divide, that’s only $2,000 per year per distributor. That’s assuming all distributors were performing the same. In reality, the top 5-10% made decent money while the rest made pocket change or even lost money. In an Independent Business Owner Compensation Plan released by the company itself, it stated that the average distributor earned $115 per month or $1,380 per year BEFORE taxes. Folks, that comes out to about $.69 cents per hour for an average 40 hour a week job. And these people paid to join the program! The good news is that not all Network Marketing companies are bad. There are indeed some very good, honest, and reputable Network Marketing companies out there. Many of which can earn you a decent living with some work. The key to avoiding these kind of Network Marketing disasters is to do some diligent research, run the numbers, use your head (too good to be true and it probably is) and make a sound decision before signing up with any company.

Examples of Real Network Marketing Success Stories

Like I said, not all Network Marketing is good, but not all is bad either. You can find several examples of successful Network Marketing companies out there. The key difference with a successful company is that it has a real product to sell. For the company to be successful with the Network Marketing structure, it must focus on the product. One such example is Mary Kay. Mary Kay started in 1963 and has since grown to a trusted global name in skin care, makeup & body care. It is an impressive organization in terms of volume and size. Mary Kay serves as one the few examples of a successful self-consumption company. In my opinion that is because they have a solid product that there is a demand for. Mary Kay offers some unique compensation to its beauty consultants including the very original pink Cadillac. Of course to earn the Cadillac requires you to achieve a certain level of success within the company. However, General Motor’s estimates that they have built over 100,000 pink Cadillacs for Mark Kay.

Another great success story is that of Art Williams and his A.L. Williams company which later came to be known as Primerica. Art Williams was a football coach from Georgia. He happened across the idea of replacing old whole-life insurance with term life insurance (which is cheaper) and investing the amount you saved from switching. On a coaches salary, Art had very little chance of getting a company started with traditional means. He instead adopted the MLM or Network Marketing model. This allowed him to hire and train additional part and full-time individuals to help market his product. Using the power of Network Marketing, Art Williams went on to sell billions of dollars worth of insurance surpassing the top two insurance companies combined. Today the company has over 100,000 independent representatives and Art himself has a net worth of $1.4 billion. I have several people who I know that have made millions with the A.L. Williams company. You’ll hear more about them later. For now, just know that A.L. Williams is the perfect example of how a company with a great product can use Network Marketing to become hugely successful.

How to Choose the Right Network Marketing Company

One of the first things you should do when entertaining the idea of joining a Network Marketing company is research. Find out about the company and what it is offering. As with all real businesses, the product is the key. The company has to have a great product that people are willing to pay for. If the product is not great than neither is the opportunity. Try to put yourself in the customers shoes, would you buy the product? If so, is it affordable compared with the current market? Take the time to research and fully understand the product. Test the product if you can. At the very least try to get some real life feedback from existing customers who have bought the product. Doing so will put you in a position to make an educated decision about joining.

As a general rule, there are certain types of Network Marketing companies that you should avoid. The key among those are businesses without a product. That is, you make a majority of the money from recruiting. These are shady MLM companies that are closer to a pyramid scheme than a real Network Marketing company. The second and perhaps more important to avoid is the self-consumption companies. These types of companies depend on you to buy their product as well as sell it. Do NOT invest in these types of companies unless you absolutely love the product and can afford it. Otherwise, you will eventually run out of “friends” and family to market to and will end up with a garage full of “product” and no one to sell it to.

Even with a great product a company still finds that a capable management team is essential to long-term success. Before joining a company, do some research on the founders. This is particularly true of new companies. Find out who is behind the curtain and if they have a reputation, good or bad. You are looking for people with a proven track record and lots of experience to make this company work. Another consideration is if the management team has a plan to manage growth. I’ve seen several Network Marketing companies with a great product, build a sales force just to collapse under its own success. The company should be upfront and honest about what plans it has to prevent this from happening. These should be real concrete plans and systems that are in place not just a “we have it covered”. Funding is very important as well. While it is true that Network Marketing companies are easier to start they do take funding to keep going and maintain. Particularly in the beginning when sales are slow and people are just coming on board. And as history shows us, there may well be times when the company needs more money to operate than it is making. Having a management team with access to capital is crucial for long-term success of the company. Most of the companies you hear about going out of business were founded by people without sufficient capital. The last and also one of the most important parts of picking the right company is to evaluate the compensation plan. That’s what Network Marketing is all about right? Making money and hopefully lots of it. So you have to make sure the compensation plan is viable, realistic, and still profitable. Never join any Network Marketing company that isn’t up front and honest about their compensation plan. Always demand to see it and demand that any point systems be fully explained with realistic examples.

Can you make money without recruiting people. That is a key question to ask yourself whenever you are introduced to a new compensation plan. Even though you are (or should be) planning to build a sales team, it’s important to know that you can make decent money without doing so. For this to work, the commissions offered by the company have to be sufficient. Depending on the price of the product and the amount of volume you expect to be able to sell the commission will differ. As a rule, you should be very wary of any compensation plan offering commissions less than 20%. Obviously, the higher the commission the better. Almost as important as the initial commission itself is the idea of a residual. Does the compensation plan allow for residuals? It effectively allows you to stack your work. In other words, you can sell something once and continually be paid on that sell every time the client renews. Residuals allow you to build true wealth by earning money on work you already did. That’s exactly how the guys at A.L. Williams got rich. To this day they continue to receive checks on policies they sold more than 10 years ago.

The final question related to the compensation plan is how does team building work. It’s important to have a full understanding of the mechanics used in the system. If they use points you need to grasp exactly how points are earned and how they convert into cash. If they use a binary or front line system, you need to understand the rules of both. Again, the company should be very upfront about how their team building works and how you are compensated for it. I’m not usually too interested in the team building because, as a sales man, I usually go after selling the product and consider the team building to be just an added bonus. However, if you are a big networker or well connected, the team building can earn you more money. By hiring and training the right sales people, you can build a very profitable team and earn more money than you could possibly earn just selling yourself.

Do Your Research, But Hurry!

As I said, you can have success by joining a well-established company. However, if you can manage to find that rare company with a solid product and good management that is just getting started then you should research quickly and jump on it. One key to easy success in any company is getting in early. As the company grows, super stars and rock star marketer will take notice and be recruited into the system. If you can get into the system before them they will be working for you and that can mean a lot of money. The longer you wait the more saturated the market will become and the harder it will be to make money. Time is money no matter what business you are in but it is particularly true in MLM. Once you join an MLM you should within two weeks recruit two other people and sell the product at least once. This is absolutely essential to your long term success with the company. Something about getting that first sell and hiring those first two people just makes it so much easier. Trust me, if you do this you will find the rest seems to just fall into place.

The Truth About Article Marketing

The Truth About Article Marketing

It seems as though article marketing is the biggest thing in Internet marketing right now. How do you get your name out there? Articles. How do you become an expert in your niche? Articles. How do you [insert money making phrase here]? Articles. But why? And how?

“You Should Believe Me Because I Know All”

Well written articles are powerful things – they demonstrate your expertise to readers better than any ad, website, or banner can. And once you’re considered an expert, people listen to you. If a licensed medical doctor told you that you should take aspirin every day to lower your risk of a heart attack, would you listen? Yes (Well, hopefully) What if you read an article in Newsweek that said the UK was going to convert to using the Euro, would you believe it? Yes. Why? Because they’re experts on those subjects, and they say so. That’s the power articles can give you.

Author Resource Boxes Are The Trail Of Reese’s Pieces Leading Back To The Author’s Website

Why do authors write articles? It’s not just to solidify their expert status. That status alone is pretty much worthless. You’ve got to give the reader a place to go when they’re done reading your article – a place to find out more about the subject. If they’ve read the entire article, chances are, they want to learn more from you. Authors give their readers that chance by putting a link to a place where they can find more information in your resource box, aka – the About the Author area. Think about the traffic you would get from a site with 500,000 subscribers or more, and feel free to make the Homer Simpson drool sound.

Googlebot Loves Candy [or] There’s A Reason Why It’s Called Inktomi Slurp…

Who else loves to read an entire article, then follow the link back to the author’s website? That’s right, search engines do. Search engine bots will follow your trail of Reese’s Pieces all the way back to your site, then chill out there and look around while they finish the rest of the bag.

Your Link, All Over The Internet

Now that your article with your link in the resource box is on the web, publishers can read it. If they like it, they can re-print it in newsletters, ezines, websites, all over the web. And what are your conditions? The publisher can’t change it, and they have to include that active link to your site. Now you have your link, all over the Internet.

Another added bonus of other sites reprinting your articles is SEO. If a site that ranks very high in the results for keywords related to your article picks it up, the chances of someone getting to your article through a search engine are high. This is kind of a round about way of getting search engine traffic, as some of those people will also follow the link in your resource box.

Where Can I Submit My Articles?

Yep. You can submit your article to individual article directories by hand, and get the job done. In fact, here is a great site that has around 100 directories listed on it: http://www.arcanaweb.com/resources/article-directories.html

But even if you assume it will take 1 minute (that’s being very generous) per submission, that’s still over an hour and a half of work you’re doing to submit your article to only 100 sites.

Wow, That Sucks… Is there a better way?

Yep again. I use a service called Article Marketer (http://www.Article-Marketer.com) to submit my articles. They go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that publishers are only sent the highest quality work by weeding out spam, advertorials, and articles with bad grammar. In fact, since my articles aren’t spam, they’ll work with me to whip the article into shape, and ensure that I’ll get the most bang for my submission buck, and the publishers get the content they’re looking for.

Article Marketer can submit to roughly 30,000 publishers and article directories, and is very reasonably priced. If you’re about to publish a few articles, you have the choice of a low per article fee, or you can get a 3-month subscription and submit an unlimited number of articles. This choice is invaluable if I’m launching a few websites in a month and need to promote them all.

Best of all, it doesn’t take me hours, it takes me minutes. Using a submission service saves me time and effort, and it gets my articles out to places and people I never would have known about otherwise. Actually, I’m going to use Article-Marketer.com to submit this article, too. (By the time you read this, I’ll have already submitted this article through them, haha!)

Wow, You Really Know Your Stuff

I write articles for nearly every website that I create, and I see the benefits almost instantly when I submit a well-written article. (I also own my own article directory, so I know what it’s like to be on the receiving end, too)

Now that you know why article marketing is king, start writing. There are thousands of content-hungry publishers out there, ready to reprint your articles and make you an expert with TONS of Reese’s Pieces…

Online Health Insurance – The Truth About Cheap Quotes

Online Health Insurance – The Truth About Cheap Quotes

Looking for low cost health insurance quotes? Good. You are taking that most important step of shopping around for the best price. But more importantly, you understand that it is important to have health insurance, and perhaps, even more importantly, understand that the real purpose of health insurance, as for any insurance, is protection. That is, you do not get health insurance to act as a sort of discount off the price of doctor and hospital services. The point of insurance is protection in the event of catastrophe. Yes, health insurance costs are high and continue to rise, but do not forget that the reason you are seeking health insurance quotes online–and even offline–is to insure you get the most protection (not discount) for the best (lowest) rate.

Getting health insurance quotes is now extremely easy with the use of the Internet. Take advantage of online insurance quote availability to get an idea of the range of premium prices offered. Even if you don’t want to buy online, you will have a better understanding of what the insurance agent is talking about, and when it comes time to put ink on the contract, you will be making a more informed decision. Remember, too, that quotes are free and come without obligation.

When you look for cheap health insurance quotes, online or off, you must also consider type of health care you want and what that means in terms of how your care is delivered to you. Health insurance is a much more than a matter of co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles. When you get a health insurance quote, you are getting a quote on a certain kind of plan. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a single “best” plan. You will find that there are some plans that will serve your needs better as an individual, and plans that will be better for both you and your family’s needs. Plans will vary according to what services they offer, and you will probably have to make some hard choices as to what services are most important. No plan will pay everything; there will always be out-of-pocket costs associated with your medical services, though some plans will pay more for the services you deem most important. So, health insurance quotes are really the tip of the iceberg to a very important subject.

Cheap Health Insurance Quotes and the HMO, PPO, FFS/indemnity plan, and POS.

HMO–An HMO is a health maintenance organization. An HMO contracts with doctors, hospitals, and other medical providers to form a sort of network. As a member of an HMO, you are required to use the providers in that network. You pay the HMO a certain amount of money per their payment arrangements in order to receive medical services.

PPO–A PPO is a preferred provider organization. A PPO is similar to an HMO in that there is a network of medical providers that you can use. However, the PPO does not require you to use that network and allows you see doctors and go to hospitals out of network. Normally, you do not need a referral to see doctors out of network. However, in that event, you do pay more for the service. That is, the amount of coverage is less.

POS–A POS is a point of service plan. A point of service plan is very much like an HMO except that POS doctors can refer you out of the network of providers to see a specialist. In a POS, you would not refer yourself, and if the plan does refer you out of the network, you do pay more for the service.

FFS–A FFS or indemnity plan, is a fee for service plan. In a fee for service, you are billed by the service. You are usually not required to use a network of providers. That means you choose which doctors, hospitals, and specialists you want to see and use. Because you make the decision about who you see and where you go, there is no need for a referral to see a doctor. The only limiting factor is whether or not the provider accepts the insurance of the fee for service plan insurance.

Low Cost health insurance quotes have a lot going on behind the scenes. Seeking an online quote? Now you have a better idea of what that quote is for. When you visit an insurance agent to talk health care, be sure to look thoroughly into the options available to you. Your health insurance quote represents a package of insurance services, and it is important for you to understand the relationship between the quote and the services you may be purchasing.

As people begin to realize the importance and value of our thoughts in creating the life we desire (or the life we have, but would like to change), affirmations can be instrumental in re-training ourselves in how to think. Before we begin thinking, we start out a relatively clean slate.

As we pick up beliefs and ways of thinking throughout life we begin to think that who we think we are is who we actually are.  This is not the absolute truth.  In actuality, we are much more than we could ever imagine and the negative stuff we have picked up along the way is something we can part with, because it’s not our true essence.

The purpose of affirmations is to affirm the truth and desires about ourselves and our circumstances. What can happen as we begin to focus on what we want and actually verbalize those desires in the form of affirmations, is the stuff that gets in our way will let itself be known.  This is the stuff that life has caused us to believe is really us.

Are affirmations a way to circumvent reality?  Some people use them that way, but clearly intentional use will yield the truth every time: affirmations only affirm what is really inside.  It just needs some affirmation to be fully realized, inside and out.

When people view an affirmation as a band-aid to a problem, the problem they are referring to is the stuff that has stopped you from feeling that the affirmation is true, through and through. Affirmations are most useful when put into practice as a tool to help one get to know him or herself better through clarifying wants and determining unhelpful thoughts and patterns so they can be released.  That ensures the affirmation is healing the cause and not being used as a band-aid.

Your True Self knows you are totally lovable and loving, that you have every resource available to you (even if it is in a different form than you may expect), and that you can make your life into what you want it to be. However, your ego or inner critic, will tell you otherwise.

Practicing affirmations deserves your full attention.  It is of great value to bring affirmations into your life to invite the stuff blocking your way to come up and show you where you can let go and let your True Self shine through. All you need to do is make a simple commitment to yourself: I will be open to be with what is coming up.

You do not always need to know exactly what the issue is that is presenting itself, or the root cause. If it does show itself to you, that is fine. If not, the feeling can still be tended to.

When uncomfortable feelings or thought patterns rise to the surface, much like bubbles coming up from an underwater spring, allow yourself to be with them. Take a few deep breaths and refrain from giving them names (if they don’t have a script running already) or getting involved in the story that goes with them. Ask your feeling or thought what they are about if you desire. Know that acknowledging the uncomfortable feeling will help it dissolve. Do not push against it for that is what has kept it with you to this point.

If you find yourself resisting feeling negative emotion simply remember that it is okay to feel what you feel!  Dealing with painful or stressful emotions or thoughts can be well handled through first allowing yourself to feel them by deeply breathing and following your breath into your body while imagining it cleansing and honoring the emotion, and second, seeking out some techniques to assist if they persist. Working through emotions can be achieved through a coaching session as well.

To get started with affirmations, it is as easy as bringing to mind some statements that on some level you know to be true or you would like to feel the truth of such as: I love me. I am perfect, whole, and worth of goodness. I am financially free. Begin by saying and writing these statements to yourself at least 5 times per day, 10-20 will have a more profound effect. This is the power of changing your thoughts with deliberate action.

As you progress, remember the importance of allowing whatever is standing in your way to come up and dissolve. It may also be helpful to ask yourself questions about your affirmations such as

How would it be possible for me to be financially free?

Why do I love myself?

What about me is perfect and whole?

It is initially natural to question one’s self so use your mind to your advantage in this manner!

Affirmations are not a band-aid.  They are an affirmation of who you truly are and what you can truly do with your life when you learn to believe them.  To believe something you must think it over and over again.

Using affirmations is helpful along any journey to self-love and conscious creation of your life.  It is important to realize that creating affirmations with clear intention is a learned skill.  Start with affirmations that are just out of your belief, but you think may be true. For instance, if saying I love me to yourself feels funny, but sort of true you can stretch it to include other affirmatve statements like I love me and I am fun to be around or I am open to loving myself and I am learning to like myself.

To help yourself get out of your own way, be gentle with yourself as you change and grow and modify your affirmations as necessary.  If an affirmation does not feel good, change it!  Use affirmations daily and often for as long as you desire and know that many people use them for months to feel and notice a substantial change.  We create our thought patterns that are not helpful and use them for decades.  To re-train ourselves it takes some time as well.  Perseverance pays off!

When saying an affirmation to yourself get centered first, take a deep breath, and connect with the feeling of your affirmation, believing it to be true.  In combination with becoming aware of what stands in your way and a commitment to unite with your true self, affirmations are a great tool to discover the true you!
