I have received more than a few inquiries regarding affirmations with particular requests for sample affirmations on a variety of different subject matter. Affirmations are really any thought that you think or say out-loud or to yourself all of the time.

For our intent and purposes we will refer to affirmations as being statements said with intention. You are no longer letting your mind wonder away with whatever gibberish that may have previously been common place. You are taking control of your thoughts; you are giving them your attention for your desires.

Any positive thing you say to yourself is good for your overall well-being and state of mind. However, I do believe that you’ll find your affirmations more useful if you tailor them specifically to you and your situation much like a tailor would fit you for a custom fit jacket.

Use whatever affirmations below that you like and that feel right with you. Then, once you’re comfortable, start to write some of your own that are specific to you and your ideal state.

Emotions Affect Affirmations

Remember that your affirmations are going to be much more affective that much faster if you can invoke your emotions while saying them. Your thoughts are energy and your emotions put those thoughts into motion.

You stir up a much stronger emotional response when you raise your voice and vary your inflection oppose to when you just read something off in a monotone voice.

Your emotions will be stronger still if you give your attention to the words as you say them instead of uttering the words with your mouth while your mind is wondering off on anything other than the task at hand.

Thoughts are energy and the emotions you put behind your thoughts set your life in motion. If you constantly are affirming that money is hard to come by, then don’t be surprised if you receive small raises from your employer, barely meet your social obligations, and have trouble accumulating wealth.

When did Negative Thinking Start

You’ve likely been thinking this way for a long time and if it were working for you I doubt that you’d be here, reading this article. Thinking in a way that doesn’t suite you was most likely thrust upon you as a young child by people who had learned to think and act the way they did from the people that surrounded them as a child.

Now here you sit with so much knowledge literally at your fingertips and you realize that you have the power to change your experience. It may seem too easy but I say… it’s just as easy as it should be.

Mirror Affirmations

If you don’t spend much of any time looking into your own eyes I can’t recommend doing it enough. I’ve done this before I even fully understood the significance or the impact of it. For me it feels like reconnecting to something within myself, like I was starring into something that knew and understood my many anguishes. Which is true, no one understands me and my experiences the way I do.

Looking into my own eyes gives me great comfort and peace and brings me back to the present moment when I have slipped off into worry about the future or sadness about the past. I am comforted and soothed with a calm that words just don’t seem to measure properly.

Another way to look at this is to realize that some of the most powerful and emotionally striking messages we’ve received have been from others who looked us directly in the eye.

You taking the time to look into your own eyes when you say something solidifies the importance and the power of your own message.

But seriously, don’t take my word for it, try it for yourself. Look into your eyes and just say hello, say I love you, or any one of the many affirmations listed below.

If you’re scoffing at this idea remember how many times you’ve stood in front of the mirror getting ready or passed by your reflection and let out a deep and heavy-hearted sigh at some aspect of your body that just measure up to how you’d like it to be.

Recall the countless times you condemned yourself for not being better at something or for not doing more in a day.

The only difference here is that instead of affirming something negative about yourself you are affirming something positive about yourself.

You can change your thinking and thereby your experience by taking control of your thoughts. You must realize that you have a say in what plays in your mind. You do not have to think thoughts that don’t suite you.

As Wayne Dyer says, “Change your thoughts and you will change your life.”

Writing Your Affirmations

When you write out affirmations of your own then do so describing your ideal situations and be specific, be crystal clear on exactly what you would like to experience. Write each one 10 times to really get them imprinted on your mind.

Relationship Affirmations

Below are affirmations concerning relationships. If you are not presently in a relationship the idea here is to be thinking only of the ideal relationship you desire. If you continually think of your relationship disasters then you will go on to have similar experiences as you try to move your life forward.

If you are in a relationship and wish to tailor these affirmations, then you would say something like, “Joan and I are very patient with each other.”

* My partner and I are very patient with each other.

* My partner and I are very understanding of each other.

* My partner and I hug, touch, and kiss each other all the time.

* My partner and I have a wonderful sex life.

* My partner and I are very affectionate with each other.

* My partner and I have great respect for each other.

* My partner and I are very considerate of each other.

* My partner and I genuinely enjoy each others company.

* My partner and I love to cook with each other.

* My partner and I laugh together all the time.

* My partner and I have a wonderful friendship.

* My partner and I have lives outside of our relationship.

* My partner is comfortable within his own skin.

* My partner cares about my feelings.

* My partner is honest even when it’s not easy.

* My partner has great integrity.

* My partner is a great kisser.

* My partner takes excellent care of his physical, mental, and spiritual health.

* My partner has goals and takes action to move himself towards them.

* My partner will try most anything at least once.

* My partner treats others with respect and appreciation.

* My partner appreciates affection.

* My partner is a little goofy and silly at times.

* My partner makes me laugh.

* My partner laughs more than he scowls.

* My partner loves the time he spends with family and friends.

* My partner enjoys a bit of travel.

What’s Next

The positive talk is great in helping you feel better and is instrumental in bringing better experiences into your life. But you’re not likely to find your ideal match sitting on your couch when you return from the bathroom during a commercial break of your favorite sit-com. You must give your words action.

You must go places, you must do things, and you must interact with the world. For example, if you’ve always wanted to learn how to khaki then take a community course with a friend, you never know who will be doing the same.

If you like to read, do so in a public place. Simply go to a coffee shop for a while, have some tea, and read for an hour or so. Join a club and become activity in the things that interest you. You are surrounding yourself with like minded people, and you are further allowing the universe to do its job.

If you want someone to cuddle you on those chili evenings you have to put yourself out into the world.

How to Use These Affirmations

Set aside a few minutes each day, preferably first thing in the morning or right before bed when your subconscious mind seems most open. Invoke your emotions, sit in front of the mirror, look into those beautiful eyes of yours and proclaim your affirmation. Get excited about the new life you are beginning, think about the new possibilities and adventures.

Give yourself praise for being brave and busting out of an old and familiar way that was getting you nowhere.

The more persistent you are with an affirmation the more it becomes the natural nature of your thoughts. You will be surprised and delighted at how differently you feel after only a short time of affirming your best life.

Billiards. There was a time when if you looked up billiards on the Internet you’d find instruction on how to play the game and the different variations of billiards that there are but today, that is no longer true. Today, if you look up the word billiards on a search engine you will find mostly, the following:

Billiards and the chaos theory. You will be amazed at how many articles you will find on this science. Chaos theory, in a nutshell, is the study of unpredictable and complex dynamic systems that are highly sensitive to small changes in external conditions, at least according to Webster’s definition. So what exactly does that mean and what does it have to do with billiards?

Chaos theory as it applies to billiards is basically the theory, and this is simplified of course, that when you strike the cue ball with the cue stick and it gets sent hurtling towards the rack of balls, once it hits those balls they will react in a random pattern rather than is a predictable one. There is something, of course, to be said for chaos theory as it applies to billiards. If you’ve played the game and are any good at it you are sure to notice that you can hit the first ball in the rack in the same place with the same force and yet it seems that each time you do so the balls in the rack react in a different way. Strong supporters of the angle of reflection equals angle of incidence theory will of course argue this, saying that we never can really hit the lead ball in the same place with the same force more than once because we are human and fallible. This argument is likely to go on for a long time.

The point however is you would be amazed at the number of articles about billiards and chaos theory.

The other main thing you will find when doing a search on billiards is billiards simulations. not just with actual games but web sites with vector designs and square shapes with coordinates that you can plug in and visually see the path of the billiard ball after it is struck by the cue stick. For those of you who are mathematically adept you can change a number of the factors in these simulations such as the number of sides on the table itself. You can have as few as 3, as in a triangle, and in some programs as many as 10 sides for your billiards table. Of course you can also plug in your standard 4 sided table.

Other variables you can change are x and y coordinate values, x and y vector values, the speed of the ball and the number of iterations, meaning how many times the ball will bounce around the table until you wish it to stop.

Then of course there are the actual billiard simulation games themselves which are very realistic these days. As to what theory they are programmed from, that is anybody’s guess.

Yes, looking up billiards on the Internet will find you some strange stuff. Want to actually learn about the game and how to play it?

Just type in “billiards instruction” and ignore the results that somehow creep their way in from the other categories.

Why 50% stay stuck in the wrong jobs:

Research continues to show over 50% of workers are unhappy in their jobs. Often people stay in a job they don’t like for a number of reasons:

1. They don’t believe it’s possible to have a satisfying career.

2. They don’t know how to go about finding and choosing a career.

3. They are “comfortable” where they are and don’t want to take on any new risks.

4. They have financial obligations – family, credit cards, payments – that handcuffs them to staying put. They feel they can’t jeopardize their current job by looking around.

5. They don’t know enough about themselves – their abilities and interest.

6. Their parents have other ideas and “plans” for them, which are pushed subtly or overtly. Maybe it’s a family history where everyone has been in the legal profession. Or a family business that one is expected to enter. Or a mother’s wish for a child to become a doctor. Then, not having made a clear choice for themselves, these paths are accepted, even though the person knows in his or her heart of hearts it’s not the right thing for them.

You know that daily affirmations and visualizations are important to your success. Every successful person will tell you keeping their goals in mind, and believing they can achieve them was and is central to their success. But lets face it, it’s sometimes hard to carve out the time for affirmation and visualization. This time needs to be powerful, filled with emotion, and it can’t be rushed. How can you make that happen?

The answer is more obvious than you think. Take advantage of the awesome power of technology and create your own affirmation movie. This combines affirmation and visualization into a powerful little package. Add inspiring music to your own affirmations and pictures to create an emotional experience you can view every day.

The first thing you need is your affirmations. I put together around 20-25 affirmations for myself. You think of your goals, what you want in life. Where do you want to be in one year? In five years? How about in ten or twenty years? Go through and form some affirmation statements that represent your hopes and dreams. “5 bedroom, 4 bathroom home on 10 acres” for instance. Or “Waterfront Home.” Other ideas are your dream automobile, a happy marriage, your family, the clothing you’d like to be wearing, your friends, how much money you’re making, etc. Choose shorter statements – these work best for a short affirmation movie.

Also make sure you write in the present tense. Always write your affirmation as if you were already living it. You want to use these affirmations to program your subconscious to believe that you affirmations are true right now. Then your subconscious acts appropriately to give you the plans to achieve the reality it believes you’re living.

There is another type of affirmation you want to add too. This doesn’t involve material, tangible things. It’s more along the lines of character traits. Here are some examples: I am happy, I am joyful, I am abundant, and I am wealthy. These are things you may desire for yourself, and fit well with affirmations.

The next component of success is visualization. You need to visualize all your affirmations in detail. This is what helps convince your subconscious that this is your reality. Your affirmation movie can help trigger this visualization. Pick out pictures that represent each of your affirmations – one to three pictures per affirmation.

You’ll put your affirmations into a slide show with your pictures. Then you hit “play” and watch as your affirmations and visualizations play across your screen in full color.

You know that emotion is also very important to success. You must have emotion when you say your affirmations and play over your visualizations. If you have no emotions connected with what you’re telling your subconscious, it just won’t pay attention to it. Emotion is what imprints us.

You’ll probably feel excitement watching your affirmation movie even without music, but choosing uplifting, upbeat music can bring your emotions out even more powerfully.

Once you view your movie with sound, you’ll see the true power of an affirmation movie. Watch it first thing in the morning to help wake yourself up and prepare for the challenges of the coming day. You’ll find the affirmations in your movie coming true faster than you could have believed.

3. They focus on too many affirmations at one time – Applying too many affirmations at one time has diminishing effects. Especially for anyone who’s new to using positive affirmations. Too many affirmations can be too much stimulus for your system, which can result in the feeling of being overwhelmed. Instead, focus on one or two, get those down, then move on to more. Think one affirmation at a time.

4. They don’t practice often enough – Repetition is key when forming new habits, or new ways of thinking, which is what you’re doing when you’re using affirmations. At a bare minimum affirmation statements should be performed once a day. If you want the best results, perform your affirmation first thing when you wake up, a couple of times throughout the day, and once immediately before going to sleep.

5. They get stuck when creating affirmations – With information basically at your fingertips in today’s age, it’s easier than ever to come up with that perfect affirmation. You’ll come across plenty of sites that list affirmations, if you do a search online. Pick one or two. Use them as is, or modify them to fit your needs, and move on. The point is to move in the direction of what you want, which is positive change.

Using positive affirmations in the right way can result in a life full of fun and enjoyment. Avoid the mistakes most people make with affirmation statements, and you’ve won half the battle.

Do you regularly have more positive or more negative thoughts running through you mind?

Only you can honestly answer that. So get ready.

If your subconscious is throwing out lots of negative thoughts then you must do some ‘brain-cleaning’ before moving into the desired new positive affirmation mode.

This may be very familiar to you, as your mind swirls with thoughts like: “I don’t like this, I like that, I feel great,  I hate him/her, I am afraid of, I don’t want them to see me like this, I am not sure about that, I feel rotten”.     

Your mind incessantly interprets your experiences as an internal dialogue. These thoughts are generated on a deep level by your beliefs which were formed and accumulated from the time you were born. 

We can’t control most exterior events of our lives but we do control how we interpret and react to them.

We create our own reality.

When we change our interpretation a change takes place in our reality.

So become aware of your thoughts. If you change your thinking, big changes will happen in your life.

Take a minute to think about why you are reacting to something or someone.

Get in touch with yourself. Accept the fact that these thoughts may have helped you in the past but they are out of place now that you have chosen to accept only positive thoughts and positive living.

While doing the new affirmations your mind will let go of the negative messages even if you are not aware if it.

Watch out also for resistance within yourself. With certain affirmations you may question, “What in the heck” – “are you kidding?”

It is ok, it is an old habit that is about to be changed. You grew up and had these thoughts for almost all of your life. Now it is time to form a new habit and you need lots of practice.

Let’s get started.

What would you like your life to be?

Think about it and write it down.

Fulfillment with your job, a happy family, better health, financial security?

Don’t hold back, go for it.

For the beginners the easiest way is to choose and write down two or three things you want changed.

For example, if you feel unloved and financially strapped, one of your affirmations could be: ” I am now ready to receive more love and wealth” and you may add  ”from the vast supply of the universe”.

If you also wrote down ‘low self-esteem’  the affirmation could be: “I am an awesome man/woman and I feel good about myself”.

Be creative, upfront and fearless. You are making a statement to yourself of your intentions.

Here are a few simple guidelines:

1- Present tense. Start all your affirmations in the present tense and have them already accomplished. You are telling your conscious mind that the affirmative action is taking place NOW and it is final. I AM HAPPY,  I CHOOSE JOY,  I HAVE CONFIDENCE. It is stronger and much more powerful than, I will be happy, or I am becoming happy, and so on.

2- How to phrase your affirmations. You can copy from an extensive list you’ll find on the Internet, use the examples below or simply write it down in your own words. Do it as plainly or as poetically as you speak. ” I am energetic and full of enthusiasm. I am safe, I am a prosperous man/woman. I attract positive people, I release my anger.” Make copies of it and leave it around the house, car and your office desk. The more you are reminded of the positive affirmations the more your mind will accept the new concept you are bringing forth. You will create a new positive reality and the universal energy will do the rest to connect this good energy to other positive energies.

3- Positive means Positive. Your subconscious usually focuses on the verb and relates it to past experiences. If you have fears, phobias or whatever, be careful with your choice of words. If you are afraid and say I am not SCARED, it will register I AM SCARED. The NOT was assimilated and ignored by your mind. Say instead I AM COURAGEOUS or I AM FEARLESS. Don’t use affirmations that have a negative attachment. You can comfortably use I ACCEPT, I CHOOSE, I DESERVE, I AM.  I developed one affirmation to counteract the negative thought that eventually peeks through, so I suggest you add it to the batch,  ”I ACCEPT ONLY THE GOOD AND THE POSITIVE.”

Starting as you wake up, say the affirmations out loud or in your head five times. Repeat the same process three to four more times during the day, the last one just before going to bed.

I suggest you end the affirmation session with a thank you  note. Gratitude will reinforce and validate the affirmations. Thank God, Jesus, a Spirit, the Force, the Universe or whatever you believe and feel comfortable with. 

Visualize your affirmations with feelings and emotion. See yourself exactly as you are stating.  It will add an extra psychological dimension and have a much deeper impact on your mind. Using this method of visualization early in the morning and at night will make your affirmations much more successful.

You can use affirmations to help build self-confidence, self-esteem, self-improvement and personal growth. It can also help conquer your fears and anger management. Affirmations have been successfully used to relieve anxiety and depression and are an excellent tool for weight control.

What exactly is an affirmation? It is simply a statement we make to help ourselves improve our life. Although the use of affirmations includes repeating them often so that our subconscious will take over, there is nothing “other worldly” about them. We are simply training ourselves to think positive.

Do affirmations help? Yes. Most definitely! Here is how to choose affirmations that will help you make your life better.

Make your affirmation believable

If you don’t believe your affirmation is possible, you won’t be able to put the effort into seeing it happen. For example, “I will marry a millionaire”, is so far from our current life that we can’t find it believable. It is a dream, not an affirmation. (Another note here: We recommend affirmations be in the present tense – but that’s another lesson. For now, affirmations can be future tense when we are setting goals.)

An affirmation should state what you want without being too much of an exaggeration. A much better affirmation would be: “I will marry someone whom I love and who makes a comfortable living.” This affirmation is one that you can believe and can take steps to achieve.

Repeat your affirmation often

In order for your subconscious to pick it up and make it automatic, it has to be repeated often. Basically, you are programming your mind to remember what you want so that you subconsciously make decisions that will help you achieve your goal.

One way to repeat affirmations is to put them on post-its that you place around your house (on the fridge, on the bathroom mirror, on the cupboard, and other places you’ll see them). This can be effective on its own, or can be used with other affirmation techniques.

Don’t try to control what happens

While you should take steps to achieve your affirmation, don’t try to control what happens in your life. If your affirmation was to marry someone who makes a comfortable living, and someone comes into your life who makes minimum wage, the decision is yours. You can choose to let go of your affirmation or to continue looking.

Creating Your Affirmation

Affirmations work best when they are stated in the present tense.”I will be a better parent” is a good affirmation, but it allows you to wait for it to happen.”I am an excellent parent” is better because it implants itself in your subconscious as current. You are doing it now. Your subconscious will help you do it.

Keep your affirmation as short as possible. It will work much better and faster than a wordy affirmation. (And it is easier to say.)

Repeat it often. Basically, you are programming your mind to remember what you want so that you subconsciously make decisions that will help you attain your goal.

Don’t use negative affirmations. “I will not bully my child” is not a good affirmation. It will work faster if you use the positive approach. “I am a calm parent” is positive and will reinforce your objective.

Make your affirmation feel right for you. The more you believe in the affirmation, the sooner you will achieve your goal.

Time your affirmations. Find a time to reinforce your affirmations. First thing in the morning as you brush your teeth is an excellent time to reinforce your affirmations. As you get ready for bed is also a great time. If you reaffirm your affirmations as you get ready for bed, your subconscious will continue your affirmation while you sleep.

You also want to repeat your affirmations several times throughout the day to help embed it in your subconscious.

You can create a better “you”. Create your affirmation, repeat your affirmation. Trust your affirmation. These tips will help you set and achieve your goals.
